"Being the big Sony fanboy you are, you deliberately made up that title to smear 360."
LOL... Just like Microsoft using MSNBC to call the PS3 a Blu-Ray trojan horse? ;-)
Here's to hoping for universal in-game XMB in 2.0.
The updates in 1.9 are nice though. Being able to re-arrange games on the XMB is a VERY nice touch. Hopefully 2.0 will allow for grouping (Downloaded games, Demo's, group by genre, etc.)
I'm glad to see that Sony is actually making the PS3 firmware updates worth downloading (unlike all of the "security enhancement only" PSP firmware updates)
Especially since I have a Nokia E70 (E70-2 US model, so no 3G)
I LOVE my phone, and I can definitely see what he's talking about. I would much rather have a real keyboard than on on-screen touchscreen keyboard.
WiFi plus Fring (a Skype, MSN Phone, Google Talk, and SIP client) means that I don't even have to use my minutes if I'm in range of a WiFi hotspot.
The iPhone is pretty sweet, but WAAAAAAY overpriced...
Yet another example of bad parenting. It sounds like the parents in this case let the kid go on autopilot, not giving their child enough guidance, and certainly not communicating with their kid enough...
It's parents that go out and buy their 11 year old's games that are rated M that causes this kind of uproar about v...
"Well I don't agree with the guy on one thing:
The PSP redesign is a flop, nah come on... Lighter, thinner, better battery life and HIGH DEF output."
Wait... That almost looks like a <gasp> pro-sony comment from TheMART... I'm speechless...
"The guy said the PSP redesign is a flop and I say it's not. Sounds positive for Sony, doesn't it?"
Yep, it's official... H3ll has just frozen over... The end is comi...
Although this is for the 1080i model =P
There's a few movies that are HD-DVD only that I would not mind having... I guess it would depend on what movies you could pick from for the free ones...
At least that way, I would be covered if HD-DVD pulls off a serious hail-mary and wins <snicker>. And if Blu-Ray wins, I'm only out the cost of the player, and any movies I might get... Not too bad...
Regardless, I could have Fearless and The Matrix...
Well... the price drop is definitely not waiting until TGS 2007 ;-)
Personally, I would like to see some sort of in-game XMB access (whether full XMB access in-game, or at least friends list/message access in-game) showcased at E3. This is my only remaining major gripe with the PS3 so far.
My bet would be on Video on Demand and video streaming being held back for TGS '07. With the huge library of movies that Sony Pictures has access to, content could be plenti...
What's with the $599.99 bundle? Only 20GB more and Motorstorm? They should have thrown in both component and HDMI cables as well, along with a bluetooth headset. And perhaps a rumble SixAxis instead of the non-rumble one...
That way, you have everything you need for online play (in HD) in the box. THAT would make it worth the extra $100...
But then again, I guess Sony does need to make money after all... ;-)
Great deal on the 60GB model though...
"Quick Question. If 2.5 million units are replaced does that number add to the Total units sold or shipped??"
A very good question indeed... ;-)
That Sony was the first to switch over to the 65nm production lines for their chips (more chips per silicon wafer = cheaper chips). That the yield rates of the blue-laser diodes has gone UP significantly, dropping the price per diode substantially. That Sony already has a PS3 model out in Europe without the Emotion Engine.
Combine all of these, and it all adds up to much lower cost per unit than the launch consoles. Yeah, Sony may have been losing $200/console at the US/Japa...
"But now look at how screwed all of the early adopters are!!"
Yet, the early adopters are the ones that have the PS3's with the Emotion Engine hardware in there for PS2 games.
You win some, you lose some. Personally I can't wait for the price to come down enough that more of my buddies can afford to get one...
Why oh why did Sony ever cancel the 20GB model in the US? A $100 price drop would have put the 20GB model right in the range of ...
Yeah, but they pulled it off on the DS, why couldn't they do it on the Wii?
I have a feeling that the Wii isn't going to offer much along the lines of online multiplayer.
Ok, so it's not coming out for the PS3. I'll just wait for the Wii version (which you know will most likely happen due to the explosive sales of the Wii)
Besides, this game doesn't offer anything next-gen graphically anyhow.
This is flat-out unbelievable. The thing I'm curious on is what their software attach rate is like...
Are people actually buying games for it, or just getting it to play Wii Sports?
It would be interesting if Nintendo could pull some stats on that, and find out what game/games people are playing the most.
Hard to believe that some last-gen technology is kicking the crap out of the truly next-gen systems...
Just take a look at how long we've been waiting on Gran Turismo on the PSP...
If they're going to take that kind of time on the game, I for one would like to see damage in the game.
However, Polyphony Digital has a track record of taking a VERY long time to release their games.
I have a Westinghouse LVM-37w3 LCD, and when I hit info, it's showing 1080p. It did look better after going into the display settings on the PS3 and enabling RGB Full Range (HDMI), and Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (HDMI).
I'll give it a shot running in 720p and see if it looks any better.
Also, remember that the PS3 does NOT upscale PS3 games... When I pop in Resistance or Tiger 07, I'm showing 720p.
Considering that the Playstation brand has been what was making Sony a HUGE chunk of their income, then why the fvck would they do something stupid like using the console to launch Blu-Ray only?
I hate to break this to ya, but Sony would make a LOT more money with the PS3 being a success for gaming, than if the PS3 flopped and Blu-Ray took off.
I'll tip my hat to M$ for the XBox 360 Software Development Kit. But Sony is catching up quickly in that department...
...
You're forgetting about the sheer size of HD movies. Even with modern compression they are EASILY 10GB in size. That's a LOT of data to try and download/stream.
Keep in mind that Blu-Ray runs at an average bitrate of 8-14 megabits per second, with a maximum of 40 megabits per second. To put that into perspective, Comcast's highest-speed cable modems are only pulling down 16 megabits per second, and that's MAXIMUM throughput (good luck getting those kinds of speed on a regula...
Why tie the hands of 3'rd party developers and not allow them to make their Wii games online?
Mario Party 8 could have been HUGE if it was online. I couldn't think of a better game to introduce the casual gamer to online play. Was it online? Nope..
Madden '07 could have been the first 9.x rated game for the Wii if it was online. EA has quite a bit of experience and know-how with creating online playable sports games. Did Nintendo let that happen, nope... <...
