I remember the first time I played Grand Tourismo on PS1 and was blown away. I don't even like track based racers unless I can fire missiles like Wipeout, Rollcage, Grip, (which is A+ on Steam for $16.99 http://store.steampowered.c... etc. I'm downloading the Forza 7 Demo now, hoping it's graphics and sense of speed are totally off the wall. Bonus, it's a Xbox/PC PlayAnywhere title.
My fat launch day 20gb PS3 (upgraded to 320gb) is sitting right next to me in my office. Still works, don't turn it on very often but boy does Sony make some solid hardware.
Even a 7th gen I3 would be good choice, they are mighty fast and cheap, but you're right it's likely going to be Zen/Vega based which I'm fine with and would make backward compatibility possible. Anything would be better than the current way of thinking of console CPU's. Massive GPU's for resolution bumps are great, but 60fps at this point (even this last gen) should be standard.

True but these days the base game installs, then the update is larger than what's on the disc! Been seeing a lot of that recently. Almost like an installer download on PC.
While I do agree with you streaming is the future, the fidelity is just not there yet compared to disc. I've tried a number of 4K services on people's setups but 4K streaming does not rival disc. Maybe if they buffer the entire movie, maybe download it first then it would be good but streaming compression is a problem. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but on disc is currently better.

Pre-ordered as well as a gift, but honestly 4K 30fps for most games isn't going to cut it. I would have liked to see 1440p at 60FPS, that would have been my preferred spec. Or an option to downsample to 1080p with HQ anti aliasing at 60FPS. Point is.... 60FPS should have been standard LAST GEN, it wasn't. No-one learned any lessons.

Successful people who are smug about often win, but most everyone wants them to see them deflated just a bit. Just so happens the gaming market is extremely competitive with many kinds of great games and developers to support. I bet a little slice of humble pie would have helped sales a bit.
They have this totally wrong. PS4 Pro has over a year on X1X and the enhancements are clear for both 4K and 1080p owners. The X1X has no AAA exclusives planned for the immediate future and any differences you are going to see on multi platform games, that don't get the same treatments that come with exclusivity, will be minimal and barely noticeable in motion. Had the PC beta running 1440p at 60FPS on PC and it was pretty damn nice. A bud convinced me to get it for PS4 Pro now and while gimped by a BS excuse and/or marketing deal, it plays and looks surprisingly good on a large 1080p panel. The super sampling really cleans up the jaggies. PVE should and could have been 60FPS and would have kept PVP balanced online for all PS4 versions locked at 30FPS. Still, I'm surprised by how consistent and clean the game feels when shit get's real.
I pre-ordered the Scorpio edition for a buddy as gift, I'll be getting the Vega 56 when it's available at normal price. We'll play together online, my living room 65" will look and feel far better at 60FPS. X1X will be great for people who just want to turn on a controller plug in a headset and play with little else to fiddle with. $500 bucks, not so bad even at 30fps for most games. It's not for me, but for many it will be a pretty nice addition to the entertainment cent...
