Actually, I doubt it will EVER sell that much... there will be far more exciting shooters out just within the next year alone. After the first 6 months, sales of any game plummit. But time will tell.
The problem with this calculation is assuming that EVERY 360 owner is going to have Halo 3. I doubt it will do more than 3-5M before the end of the year (which is still insanely good).
With over 10M xbox's in the U.S., Halo 2 didn't even sell 5M here (and it was the highest selling). There are only around 6M 360's in the U.S. Now of course I believe that Halo 3 will outsell Halo 2 eventually, but the userbase just isn't there right now.
I'm getting it for the camera AND the game... I've seen some of the cool games coming out that use the camera, but if not for this game I probably wouldn't have tried any of them.
I've never been huge on card playing games but have liked MOST of them I played on PC... this one looks to be particularly just b/c of the tech. Can't wait to give it a try!
A delay of Stranglehold is hardly newsworthy anyway. Plus, the PS3 is getting the only version worth getting... Hardboiled in HD, awesome... even worth playing through a mediocre game to continue the story after watching.
Rise of Ninja looks nice, but this looks WAY closer to the actual anime vs. the cel shaded effect in Rise of Ninja. I think I'll go with this one though just b/c Ubi doesn't have any experience w/ the franchise.
And I think you've undressed the problem... you're now comparing R&C with Halo :-(. Not really "cool" for a fps. Anyway, the gfx of Halo really aren't all that impressive period... thank goodness it has the mediocre gameplay to save it!
LOL, you guys are looking for ANY reason to hate now. This is easily the BEST looking video game so far this gen, period. You may not like MGS gameplay, that's a matter of opinion... but for most, this is shaping up to be the best game of its type so far this gen. Awesome cutscenes and the greatest espionage gameplay to ever be placed in a game... no other action game comes close!
And @ daytona... just be a man about. Gears is no longer the best looking game visually, period. ...
Either way, the PS3 still ends up having more gas. If the games are gas... Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, MGS4, Haze, UT3, FF XIII, & FF XIII VS & Killzone 2 are going to have that lambo going a lot farther than the other two.

Agreed. A remake of FF7 would result in a HUGE spike in sales in Japan (probably globally actually). But this is something that I would have rather seen within this past year... as far as future projects, I'd rather see them get their new games out though.
Since the basic story & concepts for FF7 are obviously done already... maybe they could finish it quickly & with less expenses to tide us over & generate some extra sales though.
And where exactly have you been for the last year... the ONLY thing they tout publicly are the games coming to the sytem... They didn't even talk about blu ray during their E3 presentation!
What disgusted me about their marketing is that they had a spot on Fox News for the launch of their system and got to showcase one of their games on the only 100" flatscreen HDTV (at the time anyway)... the news hosts were talking up how great HD was before Sony came on.... and they did...
Actually, one of the things that I've criticized Sony for since launch is NOT advertising the blu capabilities of the PS3... most ppl don't even know! People need to know the benefits of the product to understand the value of it.
It doesn't mean that they should focus on blu ray and drop the ball on advertising games (which they actually need to increase ad money on also in my opinion). It means that they need to increase ad $ advertising both of these features!

Did someone forget to tell this guy that all of the 360's major games for the holiday will also be on the PS3 with the exception of Halo & Mass Effect? Did they also forget to educate him on Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Haze, & UT3: four of the games getting the most buzz for the holiday?!

This game is looking awesome! I'm sure that this stage is early in the game... as with any rpg's, moves must be opened up as the story progresses.
Plus, it's being played by Americans that probably don't understand the Japanese characters... and consequently don't know how to chain together more dynamic attacks. The very first trailer released last years shows that the attack chains in this game will be more interesting than any other before it! At any rate, I love the way the...

While I'm pretty sure that Sony will sell 1M in Europe regardless of a price cut... I'd say that they may sell an extra 1M with the price cut. However... 3-5M is probably just a tad bit optimistic, lol.
