I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that this looks far beyond the online experience that MGS has brought us in the past.
Yes, when Gamespot did their preview of MGO at the MGS 20th anniversary, they confirmed that this is a totally seperate ps3 exclusive title. A representative from Kojima Productions later confirmed the same thing.
"This is one Wii game that can proudly stand next to the best-looking Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games."
It's pretty hard to take that out of context. They were talking about the visuals. The game looks better than a lot of the garbage that has come out on the Wii as of late.... but comparing it to ps3 & 360 games was just stupid. I just watched some of the trailers and lol'd.
Doesn't mean it won't be a fun game for those that like Mario... some of...
They should've just said that the game looked good. No way in hell that this game stands up visually next to mass effect, lair, killzone, or halo!!!
From everything I've read, even the negative reviews, this is a game that is definitely worth playing. I can agree that the game is probably flawed... but the flaws in no way seem to outweigh the fun/beauty of the game. At it's core, it's still dragon combat! And that's what I was buying the game for in the first place.
Hopefully the devs learn from their mistakes on this first title and make something superior on their second try... but this does not seem like a game I'd be wi...
Not to add to the flame war, but Blue Dragon was not received as a AAA title in Japan either. The game was considered average over there as well and did not achieve the sales that anyone expected over there either.
No game is univerally liked. Even Bioshock had a bad review last week. Hasn't dented the praise it's getting though.
Heavenly Sword is an awesome title that does deliver on the visuals and combat... even this review states that much!!! Pacing is more of an issue when you have to finish a game in one sitting for the purpose of a review, but is likely to be less of an issue for gamers.
Ahhh, but the games DO still justify the experience. I agree that a lot of PS3 owners were counting on 9+ scores... but ALL of the reviews for both Lair and HS have still included high amounts of praise. And in the case of HS, this is one "low" (which really a 7 is not low) review amongst 4-5 high ones. Reviews are a matter of opinion... and the one common opinion amongst all the reviews is that HS is a game that will be enjoyed.
This particular review simply pointed...
The point that you're missing is that it IS just an opinion. If you look thoroughly through Next Gen Ireland's site... then you'll see that they are not in the habit of simply giving away good reviews to playstation products. They do have quite a few bad/average reviews for quite a few games. Heavenly Sword simply is not one of them. And their site has not been the only one to praise HS either... so the opinion they share is a popular one.
I think IGN UK's review is fair... b/c...
Uhhh, yes. It was. The gameplay was very exceptional. The complaints, if you actually read the review, are concerning the pacing. They state that all of the components to the gameplay however are quite brilliant... which you'd know if you'd played the demo.
Next Gen Ireland doesn't give away positive news & reviews for PS products. If you look through their reviews and news... you'll also see quite a bit of critisism and low scores for some PS/PSP games.
No one is implying that the 360 version will suck. But we already know that the 360 version is not going to have any additional content. According to Mark, it will likely release with less content due to the difference in format. As stated, they will try to get that content to 360 users in the form of downloadable content... but if you guys end up having to pay for said content, you will be the laughing stock of fanboys everywhere. Furthermore, while you guys are getting DLC, PC & PS3'ers...
The fragfx controller is the greatest shooter controller for a console period... the 360 just doesn't have anything comparable, so that argument is dead.
Aside from that, UT3 is being optimised to run best on the PS3 as part of Sony & Epic's agreement... so fanboys hoping to see it better on the 360 are just dreaming. You guys are going to get a port of the PS3 game.
Not only can the PS3 use a keyboard and mouse... the fragx controller actually feels better than keyboard/mouse AND sixaxis controller for fps games... it's the best of both worlds. Only available on PS3 ;-)
Actually, they compared the PS3 version to the PC version if you'd bothered to read the article.
And you're correct concerning the mods. However, the most important thing for me as a gamer is PLAYING the awesome mods that come out of this game... I doubt that either you or I have gone on to create any really popular mods before.
The A.I. still needs work but none of the problems you stated were evident. The AA work looks GOOD and although the AI still needs tuning, you can't just stand around the enemy without catching fire. You're full of crap.
I tried the demo too... maybe it was the fact that it was in japanese but I didn't really catch on to the combat. The game is something that I might check out during the game drought of next year though.
I wouldn't mind wearing some 3D goggles for the excitment of 3D movies or gaming!!!
"Anybody out there itching for 3D at home?"
Hellz yeah!
lol, you must have been looking at a halo vid... the rest of us were looking at killzone 2, you are excused.
