Dropping money on a new xbox console and not having a gold account, is like buying a new PC, and not having internet.
Here's what I see happening:
In the wake of the MS fiasco, many gamers will flock to PS4, but X1 will still sell well to moderately well.
Outside the "core" audience, the "evil deeds" done by MS, will largely go unnoticed, while moms and dads and those outside the "gaming community" are simply searching for a new console to buy. Here, price will play a big factor, with many opting for the cheaper PS4 alternative, while extra ...
Regardless of the changes made to the PS controller, as long as they keep the sticks where they have been since PS1, I already know I like the xbox controller more. The "staggered" layout of the sticks on the xbox controller, is something that will always beat PS, IMO.
@AceBlazer13
"you have a choice to watch the channels in the package though their not all gonna get cut off if you choose to avoid the ones you dont want."
- And in that sentence, you just showed why the Kinect is a potential integral part of the X1, and why they are sold together as a package. It's essentially a case of "you can't ave one without the other." In trying to prove a point, you actually proved the point of your opponen...
Are those the same three years they introduced Kinect, SmartGlass, and a plethora of new features and updates to XBL? Oh, but I guess you win this one because the exclusive games - you know, the ones that make up the minority of all games released - were lacking... I can tell you right now, exclusive games are not a deciding factor for a lot of people when it comes to choosing which console to buy.
Of course none of that matters any way, since the context of that sentence wa...
MS's reversal of policy to "mimic" that of the PS4, does not show any indication that Sony is the better company, because noting about Sony's policies are exclusively Sony. They basically just followed a generic expectation rule-set of what most gamers expect a console to behave. There was no innovation or anything strictly "Sony" about it. Essentially, the PS4 is a "cookie-cutter build." In video game terms terms, PS4 is another sequel, while X1 is/was a...
UnHoly's post (3.2.2) is an example of "being a grownup."
If you want something, you either buy it or you don't - it's really that simple. When options are presented to you, and you *have* to have one of them, you choose the one that best suits your needs, and if none of them are up to your standards, then you don't buy anything. You don't throw a tantrum because it isn't exactly how you want it.
If you desperatly wanted to g...
He is right - it's not rocket science...
If it's graphics you're after, you buy/build a PC. Even the unreleased next-gens can't compete with what a PC can deliver.
There are reasons to buy a console - exclusives, ease of use, good performance for price ratio, etc. but PC is the go to platform for best graphics. Even games that look phenomenal on console, will likely take a performance hit, like Killzone running at 30fps.
Some of you seem to have this mindset that if the community feels strongly about something, then a company should just listen to them and react accordingly, no questions asked. You seem to think that just because gamers were strongly against the idea of DRM, that MS should've just been like, "okay guys...you win. The millions of dollars spent on R&D and the initial plans for our console....yeah, we're just gonna kill all that - dead in the water. We were gonna wait until afte...
The game does look fun, but I'm concerned how the shooting mechanics will behave. If it turns out to just be a glorified COD, I'll be disappointed.
You can't deny the stigma that surrounds the term "DRM" in the gaming community. The amount of bad press and misinformation surrounding the concept, leaves little room for anyone to think anything positive about it, especially people new to the idea. It has essentially evolved into the boogeyman of the gaming realm - the #1 "no-no" you never want to mention about your product.
The moment MS mentioned DRM for the X1, a lot of people were immediately tu...
You can't really prove it as a right or wrong issue either way, unless consumers are able to experience each. Currently, consumers are thoroughly convinced that the initial polices of the X1 were an absolute abomination to gaming - but this is based off nothing more than what MS explained to us (which was done poorly,) and essentially left the the consumer to "fill in the gaps" and interpret what the end result would have been. The logical response in a situation like this, woul...
@Kryptix
"...listening to your consumers is different than waiting till preorder numbers to drop."
- The reasons why take backseat to the end result.

"...when a consumer's comments get ignored, they turn around because they're not guaranteed to get what they want as soon as possible."
- "get what they want as soon as possible?" sounds a little over self-entitled, don't you think? <...
@Dmarc
Wow...is there really this much miscommunication between us?! Jesus Christ.. let's try breaking this down...
"Apparently you dont see the major distinction between the two reeasons..."
- I do see the distinctions. I figured this was evident in the fact that I explain the 2 viewpoints and their differences, numerous times, in my posts.

@Dmarc
"We care why they changed it because if they changed it for the wrong reasons, they don't see why their policies were bad, which means they are ignorant to what the consumers want, which means that down the line they may try to pull something similar again.
Imagine a murderer apologizing for a murder because he got caught... yea."
What a completely inaccurate and pointless rebuttal...
First off, whether directly or in-dire...
I'm not really seeing your argument here...
First off, if it was ignoring the problem, there would be no way to overcome it. It's not like a troll keeps flapping his lips and there's no way to avoid it. You mute him, he's now a non-issue - it's a direct response to the problem. Now if you want to address why the individual would have the urge to troll in the first place, well that's going to get into a big philosophical discussion.
Also, if yo...
@zeee
"No offence but Jesse Schell just made a big mistake by thinking that MS reversed DRM because they listened to gamers. They did that because of poor pre-orders. The numbers weren't there and they were FORCED to change their stance."
- I see this argument a lot and all I can say is, who cares? Who cares why they changed it? Are laws being broken as a result? Is criminal or malicious or violent activity taking place as a result? No? Then who ca...
There already is a function - it's called mute/ignore. I know that playing multiplayer shooters on console is like choosing to wade through shit, so I always put my virtual protective clothing on, in the form of party chat. I start a party by myself so I don't have to deal with the drama.
The percentage isn't the point. The point is that everyone's always quick to point out the RROD on 360, while completely ignoring the fact (or maybe not even aware) that the PS3 had virtually the same problem.
A person could buy a 360 with say a 50% chance of system failure, while the PS3 has a 5% chance, and the PS3 could fail on him repeatedly, while the 360 never does, since it's all chance. Yes, the 360 may have a higher probability, but it's all still ess...
I'm oldschool, so I rank GTA 2 at the top and the original at number 2. After that, I don't really care, because I never really got into them after they went 3D/open world.
The age of many of you shows, since a lot of you aren't even ranking the original games.
