A EULA is essentially non-intrusive DRM. It states the terms and conditions in which you agree to apply, whereas DRM software, effectively forces you to play by those rules.
@FordGTGuy
So does Steam, so what's your point?
The day one patch likely has more to do with the publisher than the devs, since they ultimately call the shots. This is why independent companies, like Valve and Splash Damage, can take all the time in the world to release games, because there is no higher up to answer to - they are their own bosses.
Why would you buy a console, where a good part of its features are internet related, and not have an internet connection? It would make much more sense for a player with no internet, to just stick with the current systems - this goes for both PS and xbox. This "people with no internet" argument is fucking old and played out - give it up. Even in instances like soldiers overseas trying to play games - they are aware of the connection issues they have when they are deployed, so why ev...
Apparently it is reasonable, since developers/publishers across both platforms do it... this isn't exclusively an xbox thing, and anyone trying to spin it that way is being ignorant and naive. Even on current systems, these business practices take place.
"Borderlands" and the sequel are both pretty funny. Also, the "No One Lives Forever" games had me laughing as well.
Oh, so you bought and/or used one already? Since that is the only actual way you could know it is a waste of money.
It honestly looks 10x nicer than the PS4 - Classic and simple yet elegant. The PS4 looks like a toy.
Imagine that...the xbox looks like a...box....holy shit! Mind = blown.
@NatureOfLogic - "PS4 have more games available over Xbox One on launch day. Prove me wrong if you can."
--
According to the Xbox One and PS4 wiki's on IGN, you are both right and wrong - Xbox does not have more launch titles than PS4, however PS4 does not have more either - they are the same. 17 titles each.
XBOX:
1. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
2. Battlefield 4
3. Call of Duty: Ghosts
It's sad that people have to be told when something is satire. It's even sadder when those people are upset at that fact, because they were really anxious to post negative comments.
You really don't understand how these things work...
The "boatloads" of info was part of the initial needed hype, which both parties (Sony and MS) took part in. Between the reveal event and E3, of course details had to be released, but if you honestly think they would play all their cards this early, and release every bit of detail about the features the X1 and/or the Kinect will have, the only one delusional here is yourself.
You know when they...
You have to respect or at least entertain the idea that the reason for no details, is due to business decisions. let's say the Kinect is going to be able to do things that are totally innovative and awesome - I'm saying it is nor am I expecting it to, but for arguments sake, lets say this is the case. It would likely be in MS's best interest to protect this info and release it either when the time is right, or just let consumers experience it for themselves.
I can...
@staticdash22
When they speak about "enhancing" your gaming experience, many people (like yourself, apparently) tend to take this very personal - like they are speaking specifically to you....they aren't... it is a general statement, along the same lines as "you can't please everyone." Overall, the Kinect can offer features, both as a main aspect of the game and as more of a background device, that can enhance a players play experience.
<...
and the flaw in your argument is thinking that the kinect will have to enable some type of movement or motion control to a game, in order to enhance it...
And you completely missed the point....
What he's saying is due to ignorance, is most peoples preconceived notions and/or expectations of what the kinect is and what it will be used for in games, which is (and backed by the comments in here) that you'll have to waive your hands and move around like an idiot when playing games.
The reality of the situation is that there are 2 types f games - Games built for the kinect, and games that have kinect suppo...
@aiBreeze
Competition isn't really healthy in any industry. In fact, it is the exact opposite.
Ex. Sony and Microsoft duking it out for the top console spot. MS implements this, Sony implements that, they are constantly trying to one-up one another, and in the process, ideas and features are essentially being "used up" so the other team has to think of something different just to stay competitive, even if the best ideas were already thought of. ...
Not really...
The problem with the X1 is not it's features (or lack of) but rather how MS decided to reveal it, what to focus on, and how to communicate all of this to the public. In reality, the X1 is just as focused and capable as a "hardcore" game console as the PS4. Don't let the the idea that just because MS decided to focus on other features first that it still isn't, at its core, a gaming console, and a very capable one at that.
The keywords here are "essentially" and "for consoles," meaning it wouldn't mimic a direct Steam (PC) business model, but rather tweak it to fit the console medium. This is likely what would have transpired, had it been given a chance to thrive and been updated as time went on. Even Steam is a lot different now from when it launched.
I'm not saying I agree or support MS's original stance, I'm just saying that there is validity in agreeing ...
But technically, you shouldn't really have a say in how or when you resell your games, because in truth, you never really "owned" the game, you are licensing it - it was never really yours to sell. Now I know I will catch a bunch of shit for saying that, but it is what it is. You own the box it came in, the manual and the disk it's printed on, but the content on the disk isn't really yours.
Now if devs/pubs got a portion of the profit from your trade-in...
So the general vibe I got from the comments is, "selling out doesn't prove anything...and PS4 sold out more anyway..."
We get it - MS really fucked up accurately explaining the initial features of the X1 and the direction they planned to go with the console, but this whole "find any reason possible to hate on MS," phase is really tiring. Time to grow up and put on your big boy pants. It's a game console...if you don't like, don't buy it - i...
