They keep claiming that xbox fans are "grabbing at straws" for any excuse to to make the X1 more powerful than it really is, and although for some that may be the case, overall Xbox fans are just being rational, coming to terms with the fact that even though the PS4 boasts more powerful specs, it isn't going to directly translate that power advantage into a 1:1 ratio of better graphics/performance.

System parity and diminishing returns, pretty much guarantee tha...

Who cares? Based on feedback I've seen, like 99% of people aren't going to play it anyway due to the subscription fee model they are using, an this mindset seems stronger among the console community.

In the context I read his quote, he wasn't boasting that Ryse and Forza are better looking than any other game, but rather that when compared to top contenders, like KZ, Ryse and Forza (at least for the initial launch batch) are top tier games in terms of visuals, and he's right. Games like KZ are equally as impressive, but like he said, it's about what he "sees." KZ could be performing a million and a half extra operations in the background, but the end result is largel...

The lack of interest on backwards compatibility, tends to be a more popular mindset for console gamers, particularity younger/newer ones, since the lack of it is something you've come to expect. For older gamers like myself, or perhaps PC gamers, we like being able to play virtually any game we want.

I've been gaming for over 25 years, and a lot of that is on PC, and among the obvious "go to arguments" as to what PC offers over console, like better hardware,...

Ummm, PC gamers enjoy all the extra things you can do with a PC besides gaming, as well as the versatility that comes with being able to swap and upgrade hardware. They also enjoy the extra features the games and/or community offer, like mods and other user-made content. In a nutshell, when comparing PC to console, you get what you pay for.

" I think there were just too many great FPS's on PC at the time and Halo seemed a bit lacking."

That's exactly it. The huge deal was that up until that game, shooters on console were overall lackluster. yeah, there was the occasional gem, like Goldeneye, but overall nothing really "popped." Halo revolutionized FPS on consoles, with a huge emphasis on multiplayer. If Halo was originally a PC only title, there is a good chance that it would not hav...

There are trying to distance themselves from calling the game an MMO, in part, due to the expectations and/or stereotypes people assign to MMO's.

The real hard truth is that Sony NEEDS PS4 to be a major success, while MS does not need the same for X1. Even if PS4 sells well, and even after the PS3 turnaround, MS is still standing on more money. This gives MS some breathing room, in terms of trying new approaches and experimentation, while Sony really needs to have their shit together.

"PS4 will win.
Because day one are all of the hardcore gamers the ones that buy a new console day one the ones that also own PS+/Xbla, and with the PS4 releasing first in the US then later in all the 32 country's."

- It won't matter for the "hardcore" gamers, because these are the ones whose minds were already made up. PS4 could release a month later, and the "hardcores" would still wait for it.

"now not only...

It's not really "value" if the games/services you get aren't the ones you want, which was kinda my initial point... Actually, I have seen the free games offered with both XBL Games with Gold and PS+, and none of them really interest me at all. I really don't see the whole free game aspect as value unless I can actually choose which games I want, otherwise it's little more than a good-natured gesture - a "thanks, but no thanks." As for the services themselve...

The playstation being cheaper only matters if a person is looking for any console to buy and price is strong deciding factor. I saw people use your same logic when Fifa was announced to be bundled, and I see it hasn't failed with Forza as well... However, the extra catch here is that you can't buy Forza for PS4, so where is your argument now?

Your entire argument is based around price, but a lot of times, that doesn't even matter. It's like buying a burger vs ...

I have gamefly, so I'm renting it since all my gaming friends play console.

PS+ has all those games you can download for free. The catch? You need to be subscribed to PS+ to be able to play them. Once you stop paying, you stop playing. It's like Netflix - you have access to all the movies in their library and can watch them as often as you like - as long as you have a subscription.

When you stop paying for PS+ and are essentially "locked out" of your games, this is a form of DRM.

When you need to have the disk in the co...

It's really not a stupid comment...it's all about context.

The cell may be the equivalent to the Flux Capacitor from Back to the Future, but if it's so difficult to tap into, who cares? What's the point in having all that power, and virtually no practicality when it comes time to access it?

I wasn't implying that their feature were or were not cool or innovative - I was simply stating that even if they were, people still wouldn't care due to the stigma tied to DRM.

Like I said, DRM itself is not bad, it's how you use it.

Oh, and I have been gaming for over 25 years, from everything to casual to competitive, and most of that is on PC, and I didn't have a problem with X1's initial policies.

Which doesn't prove your point. Changes to hardware in your eyes is this "smoking gun" as evidence that the system is rushed, but in reality, it is not. Sure, it *could* be evidence to your claim, but it could also just be evidence of a MS finding ways to optimize or improve their system before launch.

You can draw conclusions till the cows come home, it still doesn't make you any more right. Besides, people seem more concerned with "proving" wheth...

DRM itself is not an issue, it's how it's implemented and whether or not technology is ready to properly support it. DRM has many forms, and both this and next gen systems utilize it in different forms.

I think much of the disapproval towards their initial polices, had to do with the negative stigma tied to DRM in general. The mere mention of the term in the gaming realm, is likened to bringing up Satan's name in church... even if MS introduced some really cool and innovative polices, the mere mention of "DRM" would have immediately turned off many people, with no way of convincing them otherwise - it's like a taboo.

It appears that the community simply is ...

But as was already pointed out, their "stumbling" had more to do with the reveal and the backlash of their policies, and little to do with Sony "rushing" them.

Also factor in that the hardware of the X1 is infinitely more customized than that of the PS4 (and details still haven't been fully finalized/revealed about it) and it can appear as if things are rushed, but in reality, it is the nature of the beast with such an intricate system and the pressure...
