@dantesparda
But the 360 and PS3 weren't really tailored around online - it was more of an ongoing process. Other than MP gaming, it wasn't until later that many of the online features started being implemented.
The new systems are being built around online connectivity, from DVR, the share button, the cloud, Skype, Youtube, digital downloads, etc. the internet is a very real and prevalent medium for the next-gen systems, and much of what makes the sy...

"an update to disable HDCP is not nearly as serious as an update to enable your system to function at all."
"The Xbox patch is intended to turn off the DRM and to keep your Xbox from bricking itself. You can't play GAMES unless you update the Xbox. That is an undue hassle."
- Yes, I am aware of this, and I addressed this in my post...
You (and others) are taking the Xbox day one patch out of co...
If you don't have internet, why would you be spending $500 on a console tailored to online? It's like spending $1000 on a new gaming PC, to play Facebook games.
I keep seeing comments about how the xbox patch is mandatory, and this said patch would not be. This is justification in action...
If this turns out to be true, it means that Sony would need to implement a patch to make a feature on the PS4 fully functional, or to put it bluntly, to make the PS4 operate at 100%. The "severity" of the issue, whether it be to play games or just a problem with HDCP, doesn't change the nature of the issue - a day one patch being rel...
This has kinda been an industry standard for some time now - it's called "system parity." It is one of the reasons I have been saying that despite the power of the PS4, multiplats will likely look largely the same. If you want to see games for each console "shine," pay attention to exclusives.
But whose to say you'll even get that? It could be the case where you're paying less for a more powerful system, but don't see that power manifested in anything but exclusives, and even then, how much?
Now you may be all about Sony's exclusives, and I won't deny that make excellent first party games, but exclusives still make up a small margin of overall games released, and if this does does turn out to be the case, it just seems like a lot of either waste...
They're called "opinions." They're kinda neat how everybody can have different ones...
There's no "delusion" in someone stating one games looks more impressive than another, even if the opposition is more technically impressive. Take Drive club and Forza. people from the PS4 camp keep touting how DC is technically superior to Forza, due to techniques like real time reflections and day/night cycles, but this doesn't mean that it automaticall...
Anyone who thinks that the 50% difference is going to translate to 50% better looking/performing games on the PS4 across the board, is in for a rude awakening...
I knew someone would resort to pointing out certain titles as a way to justify or counter-argue the vast array of shitty PC ports, which often come with gimped options like no ability to customize controls, simplistic graphics options, and the lack of mod support. There are also often times where a multiplat game is designed around the console, so many of the features or content that PC hardware could've utilized, is lost due to being designed around the "lowest common denominator.&q...
"One source even suggested that enforcing parity across consoles could become a political issue between platform holders, developers and publishers. They said that it could damage perceptions of a cross platform title, not to mention Xbox One, if the PS4 version shipped with an obviously superior resolution and framerate; better to “castrate” the PS4 version and release near-identical games to avoid ruffling any feathers."
- Consoles have been guilty of this for PC ...
To be fair, the X1 is a gaming console first and foremost, and MS has been touting this. The fact that it isn't only a game console, doesn't change this.
They are emphasizing on the other aspects like TV integration, to show what the system can do other than gaming. We all know it plays it games, and we all know the new game-related actions you can do, live DVR and play while downloading. The TV aspect is a new thing, which is why it's getting attention.

Actually, the "pros" would be Nintendo, since out of the 3 consoles, only Nintendo is actually a dedicated games company. Both MS and Sony merely have a division of their corporations dedicated to games. Without games, both MS and Sony could still easily survive.
No, it's still not newsworthy... Major Nelson's personal opinion does not equate to the official stance on the matter by MS as a whole. Wasn't it a post on NeoGAF? lol, yeah, real "official"....
It's not really a facepalm. Major Nelson tweeted his personal opinion on the name, hardly a professional stance from MS as a whole. Also as mentioned by others, it's also practical to buy the site for redirecting users to official sites.
Of course many will ignore this simple fact and continue with the heckling and loling at MS, you know, cause all the cool kids are doing it...
Not too concerned. I pretty much exclusively use shotguns on every class except Support, then I opt for the M60.
"...i buy my games for 1 reason, to play online. "
What did you do before online gaming?...
@gaelic
Their really isn't much needed for those who are getting X1's to "justify" their purchase. They are getting X1's because they want X1's - the reasons why are irrelevant. For me, it comes down to 3 factors:
- I can't stand the DS controller
- I'm not a fan of PSN
- My friends are on xbox.
Notice no mention of hardware or price or "forced/mandatory Kinect." Why? Because they ar...
Maybe I'm just oldschool, but I have strong dislike for melee weapons in shooters, especially when they can OHK. The "S" in "FPS" stands for "shooter" not "stabber." I feel melee weapons have no business in shooters. Like the saying goes, "never bring a knife to a gunfight." Circumstances where I can see a knife working it's way into an FPS, is if it is class specific, like the Spy in TF2.
Just for reference, my gaming...
