From the article:
"Some gamers may look at the comparison and see the same game or a game that looks impressive enough on both machines. But others will surely spot differences, subtle as they may be. It likely depends on the extent to which gamers care. For the moment, at least, it doesn't look like we're seeing as stark difference as we would between, say, a PC game and an PS3/360 game."
- that is pretty much what I expect from all multipl...
You do get what you pay for. Resolution in games is hardly the reason I and many others, decide on buying a console. Functionality, services, exclusives, controller, OS design, social functions, etc. these are just some of the reasons people choose one console over the other.
Here's a scenario for you:
Say PS4 was released with specs lower than the WiiU, but there was confirmation that all the great exclusives such as TLOU, Uncharted, Infamous, KZ, etc. w...
The amount of PS4 chest pounding in here is ridiculous. The biggest difference I can see, in both the vid in the article and the vid posted in #1.1.17, is that X1 seems to be much darker, which likely can be addressed through in game settings and/or the settings on your TV. Overall, the games look largely the same, with subtleties here and there.
At certain times throughout the gameplay, either console looked better than the other, and I do not see X1 or PS4 as a clear, undis...
@Ace_Pheonix
But when you speak of the X1 being "inferior," what are talking about? Hardware capabilities? This doesn't equate to the capabilities of the console as a whole. What about functionality, features, OS design, online service, accessories, games, etc. In these regards, "inferiority" largely comes down to preference. I might be playing BF4 at 720p instead 900p, but I'll be playing with my friends, which results in a better overall experie...
The direct cost comparison between PC and console, is a faulty argument. It's like saying give me all the performance and features of a Ferrari with the cost of a Civic. It comes down to how games are developed on each platform, not the the cost of individual parts, that set them apart.
That being said, the low(er) price point of a console, comes with obvious sacrifice seeing that 1080p/60fps is turning out to be quite the feat to accomplish on the new consoles, whereas v...
@dantesparda
"I know the truth hurts, especially when the X1 has been nothing but a letdown, but you fanboys have got to deal with it."
- How has the console been nothing but a letdown, when it hasn't even launched yet?
@imt558
"...But DRM is very deep in XO system and it will be hard to remove that thing. Maybe MS will not be able to remove DRM entirely."
- consoles have been using DRM aspects for many years now. This is why you need the disk in the drive to play games or why you can't play burnt games.
@Stick89
""one of the most" and yes I do realize the article is a year old. It doesn't make what I said any less true."
- No, but it does make it less relevant.
"To counter your point earlier though, a paywall does still exist. Believe it or not there are people out there who couldn't care less about multiplayer gaming but would like to be able to access other online features a console has such as netflix or g...
@Kobe
"Off of your list and Kayants, Cboat has been correct 18 times vs the 11 times he was wrong according to your list.Thats a 62% average meaning he is getting most of his predictions right..."
So essentially, you are saying that his predictions are about as "successful" as prayer...Yeah, that's impressive...
One of the huge flaws in the DC vs Forza debate, is that DC proponents use all the rendering techniques to bolster their arguments, which when speaking of aesthetics, means little.
One of the biggest arguments I see between theese titles is how a lot of Forza's graphics are "pre-baked" or "smoke and mirror tricks," whereas DC boasts things like real-time day/night cycles and reflections and this and that, but this doesn't equate to an automatic win...
@aviator189
merely mentioning the X1 without any sort of snide or sarcastic comment, is enough to warrant disagrees on this site, let alone comments that actually reflect a positive attitude towards the system.
Dev actually working in the business and has experience with the new consoles = shameless douche you can't take seriously.
Forums posters who go by avatar names Famousmortimer and CBOAT, post comments online = undeniable truth, treat like gospel...
Remember kids, any news that shows positive or even a neutral stance towards MS and/or the X1, is a lie...
Yeah. the secret is that it runs at 1440p on X1. OMG, could you imagine the shitstorm that would erupt, lol.
Which depending on your perspective, can be a good or bad thing, which goes back to the opinionated nature of the term "best."
Put it this way, even the most hardcore PC gamers, still buy PC's to utilize a plethora of other features they offer. If a console is marketed towards being solely or even mostly focused only on games, this can be both a detriment and/or a plus.
Personally, the deciding factor for buying a console come down to functiona...
the 60fps confirmation is far more important to me than resolution.
Some decent deals, but I don't shop at Gamestop...
"best" is an opinion-based word...
and although the xbox one reveal was mostly about additional features, E3 was virtually all games.
For games to be remember many years later, they have to have accomplished something great - like changed the genre, introduced new tech or shifted the industry as a whole. GTA V, although hugely popular and really well-made, doesn't do this. If anything GTA III would be a candidate.
Games like DOOM, Halo, Mario 64, WoW, Street Fighter II, The Sims, and Half Life, all come to mind. If not remembered, these are at least games that really changed gaming.
This is what I have to say about the "true gamer" rhetoric -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
That being said, the word "ture" here, seems to be interchangeable with words like dedicated, serious, or even "hardcore." In this context, wouldn't a "true" gamer get both consoles?... and I would imagine that "true" gamers wouldn't belittle an...
I have seen multiple comparison vids and screen captures, and I have yet to see a definitive winner. At some parts PS4 looks better, at others X1 does, the whole time the differences being subtle. Largely, which version looks "better" comes down to personal preference.
There is one constant I have seen though, and others have agreed in articles as well, that the XO version is the one with the crisper visuals. You say the PS4 version looks sharper, yet it has been st...
