What the author describes in this article, is not exclusive to Microsoft. Many companies partake in similar practices. Does that make them right? No, but to spin it like MS are the only one's guilty, is a bit of a stretch.
In hindsight, I see the games for gold feature better than PS+, and here's why:
PS+ may give players access to newer AAA titles to play, but it is essentially a rental service, like Gamefly. You can play them all you want, as long as you subscribe. Once you stop paying, you stop playing.
Game for Gold may offer older or lesser known titles, but they are yours to keep, regardless if you cancel your Gold subscription afterwards or not. The newest game I got...
The "modern day" review chart is as follows:
1-6 = sucks
7 = okay
8-9 = good
9.5-10 = great

It depends what the terms are for "winning." If we are speaking in terms of sales, Nintendo is the winner. That being said, would you say Nintendo was the "winner" of last gens' console war?
Remember kids, the reviews are only bought if xbox has the higher score...
With the amount of people MS has apparently paid off, you'd think they would have just bought Sony by now...
I don't need to read reviews - my argument stems from that video alone. Can you honestly watch that video and tell me that the PS4 version is vastly or even noticeably better?
Sure, I could read reviews and find out that the PS4 version of a game is using 100 extra polys to render leaves falling from trees, but then you just get into splitting hairs...
Finally, the techniques you speak of, depth of field and AO, although they may show that PS4 is more har...
"There is also a chance that I will spontaneous combust sitting in my arm chair. About the same chance that multi plats will look identical on both consoles."

Yeah, there's a clear winner there.../s
"The truth is there, the PS4 is more powerful and multiplatform games look better on it but the media doesn't care about reality and has lied and tried to confuse people on it."
Actually, if you search around the net, you will see critics with varying views. Some say PS4 looks, some say X1 looks better, some say they are virtually identical. I think one of the problems here, is that 1 person makes up his/her mind on which version they think looks better, and the...
I game on my PC monitor, so I don't know if this will work for me - not that I need to calibrate my monitor anyway...
The IR blaster is a cool feature - one of those things that can be used to describe "next-gen," besides just resolution or framerate.
This isn't entirely accurate.
It isn't 1080p vs 720p. It's 1080p native vs 1080p upscaled.
Regardless of "56% higher res," many players are not going to see a 56% increase in graphics fidelity. They are going to see something that is...what's the word... a "tad" better. Hell, not even all players have 1080p TV's.

XBL members get free games also, that they can continue to play even if they stop their gold subscription. PS+ requires you to subscribe to access the free games, essentially like a Gamefly account.
As for getting exclusives xbox will never see, well, duh...that's why they're "exclusive"... Xbox will have exclusives also
I won't argue that Killzone looks stunning, but with a Metacritic score of 74 and a user score of 7.9, I'm not rea...
I didn't post to complain or be a case of "first world problems." I commented because it caught my attention how such trivial change actually will actually effect on me - think of it like a useless fact or a "well how about that," moment.
Actually, right after I submitted my post, I noticed the exact issue was pointed out by Dorwrath a couple posts above mine:
"This makes it slightly easier for right handers, left handers not so m...
People aren't really arguing that one is or isn't factually clearer than the other. The argument comes from how a big a difference there is despite the numbers, and whether or not you can tell. There may be actual numbers involved, but that doesn't remove the inevitable degree of subjectivity.
Where one persons says there's a drastic difference, others may see a negligible difference whereas others still may see no difference at all. Results vary by individua...
This seemingly cosmetic change, actually has a slight negative effect for me. I'm left handed, and the way the boxes are designed now, allows for comfortable positioning when popping the disc out.
This reversed approach, makes for awkward placement of my hands, where instead of being able to comfortably lay it in my right hand and pop it out with my left, I'll have to stabilize it and pop it out with my left.
It is closer to say that there "can be" a big difference, rather than flat out saying there "is" a difference. Claims that there is a clear difference between the 2 resolutions, isn't completely true.
There are factors that play a part in the difference or benefit people will get from 1080p vs 720p, such as screen resolution, screen size and distance from the screen.
To be able to detect differences between resolutions, the screen must be large...
Of the 15 games listed:
Dragon Age 3
Project Eternity
Mass Effect 4
Fallout 4
Are the only ones I'm interested in. Also, I never heard of "Lords of the Fallen," but it looks like it could good.
A game not on the list that I'm looking forward to (that may not come out in 2014) is "Cyberpunk 2077."
But we are not talking about the services as a whole - the discussion and the article, is about the free games aspect. Although you bring up valid points, you are trying to shift the argument to your favor.
