This was actually addressed by someone at Respawn:

It isn't a hardware issue, it is a design choice...
Titanfall will have dedicated servers, so there's no problem there
BF4 features much larger maps, real-time destruction, and more hardware intensive rendering techniques, as well as vehicles, and yet it running 64 man servers on X1 and PS4. Your argument is moot.
This "bigger is better" nonsense being spewed from the community, really illustrates their level of maturity and their actual level of experience with shooters, seeing as how competitive matches are typically low player counts, and those complaining seem be completely oblivious to this, you can assume that the majority of them know little to nothing of competition level play, outside of perhaps clan matches with friends on public servers... no league registration, no sanctioned exhi...
The Zune was eons better than the ipod. It looked nicer, it had a better UI, constructed from better materials, and even the software for rendering the audio was superior on Zune. I remember listening to songs on ipod that didn't sound like they should, yet they sounded true to the original on Zune.
Zune didn't fail because it was a bad product. It failed because it wasn't an ipod.

"Since day 1 you could walk into best buy and pick a system up."
- Not here.... couldn't find ether console. It's really getting tiresome seeing people post examples of X1/PS4 being available/not available in stores, based on their local shops, as if this applies to all those stores nationally, or even globally.
Actually, when I went to pick up my play n charge kit from Best Buy about a week after the X1 launched, there were absolutely no X1...
You obviously have no experience playing competition matches...
Small teams allows for more planning, since you are able to effectively communicate and strategize with the entire team. This is why competition matches are played with small player counts.
It is virtually impossible to effectively communicate and plan anything with a large team, especially in a pub match.
Even your example of strategy in a game, shows your lack of experience: <...

"Whatever helps you sleep at night dude, but let me ask you of any 360 exclusive that looks as good as Uncharted 2. There is a reason why even 3rd party games look better on the PS4"
- What's your point? A game looking better doesn't somehow make it a better game or a more fun one to play.

Titans are not kill-streak rewards. Everyone has access to Titans, regardless how many kills they have. Titans are tied to a cooldown, however, gaining points (don't know if it is exclusively kills) can speed up this cooldown.
It will largely disappoint people who don't come from a competitive background. When you play comp matches, they are typically low player counts, since it allows teams to effectively communicate and plan out strategies.
It becomes increasingly difficult to organize a team comprised of 32 players, which is why the teams in BF4 are broken into squads. What? You thought squads were just so you could play with your friends? No, they actually serve a tactical purpose.

personally, I don't consider a gen "current" until the previous gen has phased out to a certain point. When millions of people are still playing 360 and PS3, due to not even owning a next-gen system like they are now, PS4 and X1 are still considered next-gen.

You guys are aware that simply citing sales figures is not some definite "evidence" to who is "winning," right, because many of you seem to be using that very detail to fuel your arguments (as well as the author of the article.) It's only been 2 months - hardly a time to be claiming winners and losers...

Imagine 32v32 (or more) on Titanfall. Now imagine every player has a Titan at the same time - it would be chaos. Bigger isn't always better, even in games that offer it. If you need an example, play on a full server of CTF on Metro in BF4...
Becuase not all games are designed to cater to multiple playstyles. Need an example? Look at Dark Souls. Why don't they include a casual/easy mode for those you aren't looking for a challenge? Why? because the game was designed around a specific playstyle/demographic, and it looks like they're sticking to this mindset for ther sequel - 4416d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment
I think hyper-realistic graphics have more to do with achieving the goal of actually being able to obtain them, than actually having anything significant to do with gaming. Yes, it would be neat to play a game of this fidelity, but I'm pretty confident in saying that lots of people don't mind if their video games look like, well, video games. Aesthetics play a much more crucial role than graphics any way.
Glad to see someone actually understands the reasoning behind designing a game around a 6v6 player count. It has nothing to do with "limitations," and it definitely doesn't show a lack of "next-gen."
32v32 or more, is fun for pub games, but competition matches are always small. It's virtually impossible to coordinate a team of 32 (or more) players, especially on a public server.
6v6 is fine, as long as the maps are built around it. Competition matches tend to be around this size, since it allows for coherent matches and coordination between players. All those who are complaining how 6v6 is not "next-gen" are completely missing the point as to why you design a game around 6v6 play, and likely have never played FPS's competitively.
Large player-count servers are fun, but you can never coordinate as a full team. It's usually smaller te...
It doesn't land every time... I have clips I recorded of shotguns at point blank range, with reticule on the player and the sound of the shot being fired, resulting in my player dying, and the enemy at 100% health.
