But do we WANT FPSs to work on Natal?

I'm amazed. I'm truly amazed. You -- yes, YOU gamers -- used to cry out in anger, you used to tremble in fear and lament the current state of gaming. Why? Because you said "The Wii will destroy hardcore gaming".

You feared the Wii's motion controls would destroy your beloved genres like FPSs, third-person action games, and RPGs. You hated the Wii and said that it destroyed everything the hardcore gamer loved.

Yeah. With the price drop, a lot of people are going to want a PS3. Friends of mine who are (formerly) hardcore 360-only fans now are getting the PS3 on the first day of the price drop. After all, how can you say no to Uncharted, Uncharted 2, MGS4, Gran Turismo, Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Killzone 2, etc. etc. etc.?

If you weren't excited about motion controls/video capture before (i.e. if you never liked EyeToy, the Wii, or the PS3 Eye), it seems like a pie-in-the-sky fantasy that suddenly Natal is going to change your mind about those things.

I've said it many times before: it's funny how the majority of the 360 fanbase is so excited about Natal, yet over the past 3 years they've been mocking the Wii and shooting down the innovation of the PS3 Eye. I guess this isn't the first time it has ...

No big surprise. Uncharted 2 was "best of show" for a lot of media outlets at E3 '09, also. True gamers will make sure they have a PS3 to play this game (as well as Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Demons Soul...oh the list goes on)

I think Sony is going to put a lot of egg on the faces of those who said "PS3 is doomed in 2009" and "Sony will lose holiday 2009". With Uncharted 2 and Gran Turismo 5 this holiday and a massive price cut, Sony will easily take the cake.

Fake, and let's be honest. The 360 already has enough hardware problems. Don't exacerbate the problems by cramming the components even closer together.

I think Sony should "start over" with the PSP Go and focus only on digital content. I could be totally wrong, but based on the responses from PSP owners on the internet, most PSP gamers who already own a 2000 or 3000 have no interest in upgrading to the Go.

In fact, the Go is pretty much designed to capture a new audience, and the 3000 is still going to be sold in stores, so I don't see why Sony should bend over backwards for those very few people to play their old UMDs...

Y'know, virtually everyone knows Newell prefers Microsoft. No big secret.

However, it amazes me that people still look to Newell's fanboyism as some sort of reflection on the PS3's hardware, as if to say "See? Newell doesn't like the PS3. That must mean it isn't worth liking".

And it is not the issue that Valve does not make games for the PS3. Square-Enix has not yet made a game for the PS3, yet you don't see them saying "PS3 is teh brokenz hardwaaare...

Herzog Zwei or Shining Force please.

Correct. I'm sure they didn't expect the first game to be their flagship, as was apparent by their average marketing campaign for it, but once Halo 2 was announced it was obvious that they were going to use the Halo series for all it was worth, what with the advertising campaign of Halo 2 being bigger than the US Government's military budget.

Well, I think it's clear.

When you pay for Xbox Live, you're not paying for decicated servers (those vary from game to game). You're not paying for a faster connection (that is based upon your service provider). You're not paying for stat-tracking or achievements (other free services offer identical things without any charge). In the end, you're really just paying for last.fm integration and cross-game chat. That's it.

Hey. Be grateful for 22 characters. Blaz Blue had like...what...10?

I'm actually interested in seeing the proof behind the drop in manufacturing costs. I'm not doubting them. I just want to see the proof, because there have been plenty of "rumors" that Sony got burned for just because an excited journalist caught wind of something and wrote about it (which happens at basically every firmware update).

That list was TERRIBLE. Kayne and Lynch? Whoever and Whoever #2 from Army of Two? Sam Fisher? Frank West?

What a horrible, horrible list.

It will be between Halo ODST, CoDMW2, and Gran Turismo 5, in my opinion.

I don't think "good games" is enough.

"Good games that do something different" is more like it. It isn't enough to just copy the competition and hope that the public doesn't notice. You have to innovate.

@ Darkest_Red

"Flamebait" might be if the article was titled "4 things Microsoft got wrong and Sony did right", but even that is a stretch. And what does it matter if you own one console or another? Does owning a 360 make me love it? Does owning a Wii make me support everything Nintendo does?

6023d ago 2 agree3 disagreeView comment

Interesting article. The author definitely points out some good things. It's even more interesting to realize that simply dumping tons of $$$ into the problems has actually worked out pretty well for Microsoft. Then again, some might scream conspiracy (bribing the media, etc), but I won't go there.

Not saying that the PS3 version will be vastly superior, but you're saying that you'd rather play the (possibly) inferior 360 version of a game to use some non-gaming features?

Gee, I miss the day of MS-DOS and 8-bit cartridges....
