The best-looking games this year are all on PS3. No exceptions.
The MOST surprising part of this story is that some people are actually surprised by this.
Anyone who thinks this is a new tactic from Microsoft of their associates was born yesterday. Microsoft has been doing this since Day One, they've done it with Windows, they've done it with their software, they did it with the Xbox, and they've done it this entire generation with the 360.
Whether the problem is "widespread" or not (it's probably MORE widespread than we think, knowing Microsoft's track record), the problem shouldn't exist in the first place. This is the 360's biggest game of the year.
You don't see these issues with PS3 games or Wii games or...heck...DS or PSP games.
It's sad that the "console wars" get all the attention when the handheld platforms (both the DS and the PSP) have been getting SO MANY awesome games.
Actually, I would say that handheld gamers saw more stuff for their platform of choice at TGS than the console gamers did.
Yeah, I still have my copies of both those games too. Heck, I still have my DC hooked up to my TV since I play it every so often.
But I'd still buy Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue, if for no other reason than to support the devs of those games.
Take note, Activision, with your lack of MW2 demo:
When you're confident about a game, release a beta and demo. U2 did. Did you?
Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue are two of last gen's best games.
I'm really excited for this game.
It makes you wonder if they're REALLY focusing on MG:Rising as much as Peace Walker, since we've had a great deal of Peace Walker news, and....um....a picture of Raiden for Rising.
Actually, I'm not sure I will like MW2. I have yet to be impressed by any of the footage or news surrounding this game.
Yeah, I'm sure it will sell a lot. Yeah, I'm sure it will get high ratings.
But I'm wondering if the game will have a bunch of glaring flaws that reviewers "magically" didn't see (Gears of War 2 comes to mind).
Why is this an issue? This is Microsoft's biggest exclusive this year. You'd think they'd take care of their loyal fans.....oh wait.
@ sakura2009
Is the Wii more reliable than the 360? Yes.
Does it have better games? Okay, everyone is entitled to their own preferences and opinions but I'm going to say "No".
Simple: you might as well spend the same amount of $$$ on a PS3 or 360. Heck, even a DS or PSP with a couple of games would be more worth it.
Microsoft is running scared. Two price drops in three weeks. You simply cannot spin that. Add that to the fact that the graphical/physics gap between the PS3 and 360 is becoming more and more obvious, plus the fact that the 360's lineup of exclusive games and exclusive developers is dwindling...
It's no wonder Microsoft is hyping up Natal as the next big thing in gaming...it's the ONLY big thing they have remaining.
Of all the motion control technologies out there, Sony's seems to be the best based on what we've actually seen demonstrated. It's the most accurate and the most flexible and versatile.
With that said, I hope Sony and Microsoft don't go the way of Nintendo to appease the "casual crowd". Heck, the main reason I'm worried about Project Natal is because of how Microsoft seems to be changing their entire focus for the sake of Natal.
I'm eager to see what they do with it.
Yet another amazing score.
Gamers who don't own a PS3 are really missing out on the majority of this year's must-play AAA games.
...but compared to the PS3's increase?
Well, Microsoft has to make a profit in the gaming market SOMEhow.
And as a side note, no one should be celebrating this, not even 360 gamers.
I certainly want Microsoft to ATTEMPT to "conquer Japan" (more games for us gamers), but let's be serious. Microsoft will not conquer Japan this generation. They've already tried for years and failed. They've got into bed with some of the biggest JRPG developers with exclusives and timed exclusives, and they STILL are getting the crap kicked out of them.
Bungie is a great dev, but it's sad when people hail them as some sort of revolutionary think-tank.
Bungie takes proven ideas and improves upon them. That's a fact. There's nothing wrong with being an "improver". Most of the best devs in the industry are simply really talented "improvers", but let's not give credit where it isn't due.
