But what does "won" really mean?
If nothing else, Sony has a kickin' 2009, especially the holiday. Killzone 2, MLB 09, and inFamous for the first half, and Uncharted 2 and Gran Turismo 5 (I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of others). Gamers would be foolish to ignore the PS3 this year.
I'm not trolling, but we have to remember that Vista received plenty of stunning reviews very early on.
And then the public actually used it...
"How Halo changed CONSOLE gaming" would be a better title.
Or perhaps "How Halo changed game advertising: a.k.a spend more money on the advertising campaign then you did on the development of the actual game"
The fans who take every opportunity to worship every aspect of the Halo series are JUST as silly as those "anti-Halo fanboys" they complain about.
360 holding back the PS3?
*looks at the graphics in Alan Wake, Gears 2, etc.*
*looks at the graphics in Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, etc.*
Hahahahahha!
In multiplatform games, sure (multiple developers have already confirmed this, including a certain developer of a certain car-jacking open-world game). But in general? Nope, the PS3 is blazing ahead with or without the 360's help.
Glad to see SOMEone sticking to their '09 release schedule for a change (I'm looking at you, Alan Wake and SC:Conviction).
Hahahahah! I knew the guy was desperate for publicity, but....
Ironic indeed.
It depends on what you consider to be "quality". As for me, the height of RPGs was not with FF7 (I actually think that game is mediocre), but rather with Ultima, the SNES RPGs, the Baldur's Gate and Fallout series, etc. But it all depends on taste. Many people (obviously) adore FF7, but I don't, just like most people aren't going to share my love for Dwarf Fortress, Incursion, and Nethack.
And suddenly, non-gaming social applications matter so much to gamers!
Bu bu bu bu....oh, why bother? At this point, only willfully-ignorant haters think that Blu Ray will fail.
Take your time and polish it up, Microsoft. Believe it or not, we actually WANT the "future of gaming", regardless of who delivers it.
But by now, we gamers are intelligent enough to know the difference between the "future of gaming" and a $50 million advertisement campaign.
A person who takes Edge scores seriously is not a real gamer. Period.
Sadly, Live subscriptions offer very little substance. You'd THINK there would be more stable servers. You'd THINK there would be stronger cheat-prevention measures. You'd THINK, but it's not the case. At this point, people are paying $50 for cross-game chat. Everything else can be found for free elsewhere.
Not a single PS3-exclusive on that list, despite the fact that it was home to two of the highest-rated games of the year.
And yet he puts Castle Crashers and Gears 2 on the list. Hah. I laugh at that.
Hah! Well said. If an install makes the game look better, then do it. No need to gripe about it.
There's MUCH more to PC gaming than the latest Call of Duty or the latest Half Life mod...
Just putting that out there, since all these console-centric gaming sites seem to have the above notion stuck deep in their brains.
I'm glad. I'd hate to see this game's development be split between three platforms so late in its development. The last thing the PS3 needs is a crappy port of a game built for the 360 (and I'm not calling SC:C "crappy". I'm just saying the port would probably be crappy).
This article does not offer a single shred of info, insight, or thought that we haven't already seen a thousand times over.
It looks/sounds sweet. PSP is getting a buttload of (potentially) awesome games over the course of the next 12-18 months.
Though many people here simply see me as "some stupid Sony fanturd", I'll still say my piece:
This isn't because of the 360. Squarenixidos has proven many times this generation that they are slipping. Their game quality is getting worse and worse. Play "Last Remnant" if you don't believe me.
If I'm going to blame anyone for the drop in quality, I'd point the finger right at S-E.
