Project Natal and Milo are already getting plenty of positive press and defense from the American media (who, mere months ago, were constantly writing articles saying that motion controls were the downfall of gaming).
Think about this: if Project Natal and Milo are really so awesome, do they need to be defended? Shouldn't their awesome-ness speak for itself?
The rise of quality is only natural, since XBLA is getting a healthy amount of competition from PSN and the Nintendo Store.
Yet, I don't see Sony nor Nintnedo raising their prices when XBLA gets a popular game. I see the quality of those two rising, but I don't see the rise in price.
So, no. It has nothing to do with a rise in quality. It has to do with a rise in greed.
It's not a "series", but I'd take a new Vagrant Story, please. That game is still a very unique.
I'd take a new Star Control game. Star Control II = 16-bit Mass Effect.
It's true that the unique graphics of some Wii games (Zack & Wiki, MadWorld, and No More Heroes, to name a few) makes up for the Wii's lack in graphics, but what about Valkyria Chronicles? It's a "cel shaded" game done on an HD console, so it has the cartoony beauty that these same Wii games have, yet it's done with more detail, better physics, better sound quality, etc.
Graphical comparisons between the Wii and the HD consoles have always been irrelevant, not becau...
"Innovation" is an overused term. It'll stop being used once another marketing catchphrase hits the scene. Remember how Microsoft used to constantly use the term "console exclusive", but now that the PS3 has them beat in that regard, they never utter the phrase? Remember how Microsoft used to blab about Metacritic scores, but then MGS4 and LBP came along and they suddenly were quiet about Metacritic? (and I'm only picking on Microsoft because this is written my TheMart. So...
I really really really really doubt this. Yeah, I know they said it, but I have it on good authority that there's already a large briefcase on its way to the Bungie headquarters from Microsoft, and you can easily guess what's inside.
...or in any country, for that matter.
I kid. I kid. Actually, this article was pretty interesting.
@ Xi
Read your own comment. Think for a minute.
Why would you want to use a camera to read your hand that is imitating a mouse? Why not use a mouse?
I know the 360 community is jumping for joy at the awesome possibilities of Natal, but for the sake of the 360 I hope your ideas are never implemented.
Finland is home to a mere 5 million people.
I'd want traditional controls for a Halo game. Then again, just make "Cortana XXX Buddy" for the Natal camera and watch the nerdgasm commence.
@ Xi above
That sounds terrible. Worse yet, it sounds almost exactly like the many Wiimote and Eye applications that 360 gamers have mocked the Wii owners and PS3 owners for getting excited about. Talk about hypocrisy...
When people try to say as though GTA4 has some sort of deep, compelling storyline, I facepalm. It's like someone trying to convince me that Fast and the Furious is a cinematic masterpiece and Vin Diesel is an acting genius.
It was a good game. It was fun. It had its moments, but stop trying to act as if it's the pinnacle of video-game storytelling. There are dozens of PC and console games that are more deserving of that title.
They really should have hounded them about why ODST is now a "full retail game", even though the engine is the same as Halo 3 (a nearly three-year old game by the time ODST comes out) and the campaign will likely be quite short.
I'm hungry for an IP from Epic Games that's actually original and relatively bug-free.
Ahahahaa! That title was hilarious.
Yes, of course The Cell is "smoke and mirrors", in the sense that it can actually render realistic, HD-quality smoke-effects and mirror-effects that cannot be done on other consoles.
"The proof is in the pudding", as an old man once said to me.
Wow. To think this game is coming out this year. It makes you feel bad for people who don't own a PS3. First Killzone 2, then inFamous, and now Uncharted 2? Crazy...
You guys arguing with Morgan about the definition of plot twist didn't do so well in high-school Lit classes, did you?
Plot direction =/= plot twist.
Well, we all know there's really only one company to blame for this whole mess...
If Prototype, Infamous, Lost Odyssey, and Cannon Fodder are the only games this guy can cite to show why games do/don't emotionally connect, he's a pathetic gamer. This article was three pages of trash.
Agreed. Most of the plot twists on this list are lame. The twists in MGS4 are some of the best in any game and/or movie/story/whatever.
Lots of these (like "OMG! Teh Flood!" and "You're Revan?!?!") are very cliche and poor choices. I can think of dozens of better choices. The plot twists from Planescape: Torment. The revelation at the end of Shadow of the Colossus. Kratos finding out what happened to his family. The list goes on and on.
Sweeeet. I love Disgaea on the PSP, and I'm looking forward to Disgaea 2, but hopefully they do a better job with this game than they did with Mana Khemia (which was a train wreck on the PSP).
