Halo's gameplay is not perfect. No game is.

See, it's that exact attitude of "OMG! HALO IS ALREADY TEH PERFEXX!" which allows Bungie to put minimal effort into improving the game instead of giving gamers the improvements and advancements they deserve.

Yeah, Valve would say that, because the 360 community is definitely head and shoulders above the PS3 community when it comes to...

- buying expensive DLC that is free on other platforms
- accepting crappy graphics
- buying rehashes of games they already own

Of course it will just be "more of the same", and the media will worship it for it...

...yet, in the same breath the media will turn around and slam a dozen other non-Halo games for being "too much of the same" and "not enough innovation" and "not enough of a graphical upgrade" etc etc etc.

Just goes to show how objective video game journalists are (protip: not at all).

PS3 has all of the games this year, with the exception of the racing genre (Forza 3 undoubtedly took the crown for that this year). There's no real reason NOT to own a PS3.

People should listen to Daniel Johnston...every time Kurt Cobain played a show or appeared on MTV he wore a shirt of Daniel Johnston's first album "Hi, how are you?". Sonic Youth also adored Johnston.

Sony has many mascots. Simply choose the one that fits your interest.

Kratos, Nathan Drake, Sackboy, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter...

It just goes to show that Sony is all about variety.

Nice interview. It's nice to listen to a creative genius in the industry who isn't full of himself. This guy reminds me of Peter Molyneux, except without all the empty boasting and lying about what your game will do (and then the game doesn't do it).

Glad to see a developer wanting to push the boundaries of gaming and not just churn out sequel after sequel *cough*Activision*cough*.

I mean, sequels aren't BAD, but new IPs are few and far between this generation, and even fewer if you weed out the crappy ones.

It's funny...I've seen these articles since the late days of the Super Nintendo. I've seen articles claiming Halo:Combat Evolved would kill FPSs on PCs. I've seen articles claiming Final Fantasy 7 would make high-end gaming PCs obsolete because the graphics were so good. I've seen articles claiming that the Dreamcast (yeah, the Dreamcast) will kill PC gaming because the Dreamcast finally included the one major advantage PC gamers had (online gaming).

Yet, PC gaming is still here ...

This game is really fun and a must-play game for any RPG gamer who desperately wants to try something new.

Heck yeah. Dead Space. That game is pretty scary, and also a helluva lot better than RE5.

Microsoft did the same thing in 2008 (Gears 2, Fable 2) and in 2009 (Forza 3, Halo:ODST)...

Their big games came at the end of the year, and there were only 1 or 2 games.

On the other hand, Sony had a new, AAA exclusive coming out once every two or three months for the WHOLE YEAR.

That's why I own a PS3.

IMO, play FF4, FF6, FF8, or FF12. Those games tend to have a very fair popular opinion of them (as in, they're not extremely overhyped).

Whereas, if you start with the "fan favorites" (FF7 or FF10), you might be turned off to the series.

Avatars are pointless to the hardcore gamer. That's a fact, and anyone who denies it is just worshipping Microsoft for no good reason, because the hardcore community denounced Miis and HOME characters before Avatars even came out.

Hardcore gamers should cringe that Avatars exist, because it shows that Microsoft is moving quite swiftly in the wrong (read: casual) direction.

I didn't buy a console for a "social experience". I have a real social life, ya know. I bought a console to play games.

So, keep your social experience. Where are your AAA games, Microsoft? Oh, you're STILL talking about Halo 3 and Gears?

I have this game on PSP and it's awesome. There's a ton of content and best of all...it's just FUN to play. And it's pretty "pick up and play", yet it's still a hardcore RPG. Whaaat? "Pick up and play" AND a hardcore RPG? Yes, it's possible.

People will still praise MW2 regardless of actual quality (see GTA4 for reference), and will say that it looks amazing, but in reality...

...the graphics are average. Did I say "bad"? No, but they ARE average, especially after seeing the graphics in games like KZ2 and Uncharted. I suppose it IS a multiplatform game, so what can you expect?

I guess it depends if Interplay sold them the rights to the "Fallout" name, or just the rights to continue the series. I'm sure -- in some way -- Interplay still holds the rights to the original games.

But anyway, Bethesda is being a douche. Let gamers play their games.

Core gaming is dead? These guys need to put down the controller and play some more PC games.
