I really enjoyed the single-player in R2. It was par for the course and didn't do a TON of new things, but it was still very fun. I am still baffled by how many reviewers have been hating on R2's sp campaign...
I could say pretty confidently that as far as games and features go (and that's all us gamers should care about), PS3 definitely trumped the 360. That's not to say that 360 had a horrible year, but PS3 had a better year.
I would say that ALL platforms have had a great year (yes, even the Wii), but I'd have to hand PS3 the year of 2008 due not only to the large amount of great exclusive and multiplat titles, but also the VARIETY and CREATIVITY of those titles. This is especially true for many of the PSN Store games that came out this year.
I hate to sound like a parrot saying the same thing PC fanboys said when Crysis first came out, but Crysis in its current form could not be accomplished on consoles. Here's the deal. Crysis's awesomeness comes from three things:
- excellent visual effects (nice textures, lens flare, lens blur, etc)
- incredibly far draw distances and open-world gameplay
- fully integrated physics engine
I'm sure that a console version could pull off two out of those three...
I love how most N4G headlines end in a question mark as if to make the statement non-inflammatory.
"Killzone 2: Is it doomed?"
"360 RRoD: Does it exist?"
"Blu Ray sales rise: can the format be saved?"
"Gears of War 2: Will it turn you gay?"
Of course, if the headline read "Killzone 2 is doomed" people would rage, but the question mark makes it all okay. :^D
Anyway, t...
If cheap Blu Ray players can drive the format, Sony and the PS3 are only going to benefit. The PS3 has been labeled as "the Blu Ray console" for better or worse, and most people know that it's easily the best Blu Ray player for the price.
@ cherrypie
Sony is screwing over its customers? How again are 360 owners the customers of Sony? Clarify that for me, please.
I love how people are getting so upset about this, yet these same people cheered and jeered PS3 owners at the news of exclusive GTA4 DLC and Fallout 3 DLC.
But of course, THIS is a "d*ck move" on Sony's part. Cry more, fanboys. You're simply feeling the burn that many PS3 owners have felt over the past 2 years over lost exclusives and missed DLC.

If I may offer a 5th tip:
Learn the spawn points. Even though the game doesn't use the same spawn points EVERY time, it still uses the same spawn points throughout the levels. You will see a "boss" zombie come out of certain areas every single time. You will see a Boomer come down certain hallways every time. And then of course there will be certain walls or certain doors that always have zombies behind them.
I play the game on Extreme with my friends (the ...
The game installs are by and large the best feature of NXE. Being able to install your games for faster loads and less disc noise is always a nice thing.
After Infinite Undiscovery, I have little hope for S-E's "other" titles (and by "other" I mean "non-Final Fantasy"). IU was terribly short and felt very unpolished. Hopefully Last Remnant will do better but just a few days before its release and no reviews, I'm skeptical.
Kind of a short ad, but at least Sony is getting their brand name back out there.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the "Reflection" campaign ads that we're seeing now supposed to lead up to "something big" on the 22nd or 23rd or something? That's what I heard.
Okay. Thanks for the answer.
How do I get disagrees for asking a question though. :^P
Agreed. Bubbles for you.
But there will always be that vocal group that hates anything with "Sony" slapped onto it for no other reason than they aren't Nintendo or Microsoft.
@ Crab
Let's be serious. Microsoft buys 10 times as many timed exclusives and DLC exclusives as Sony. Don't be a brat.
Are there free themes on XBL?
Not flaming, just asking, because whenever I perused the Marketplace I would see themes for sale. Of course, that was back when I owned a 360 earlier this year in March, so I'm wondering if things have changed.
It will be interesting to see how this game holds up the in the reviews...
Great preview. I'm not in the beta but I have played it on a buddy's console, and everything the writer says is true. The game takes FPSs to a completely new level, not only from a graphical standpoint but also from a gameplay/tactical standpoint.
Basically, if you love the class system of TF2 or the quasi-class system of CoD4, KZ2 does it better. It offers the perfect blend of customization (by allowing you to mix and match badges) while still making each badge feel distinct an...
And don't forget games like Heavy Rain. It probably won't sell a trillion copies, but it will do well enough for itself. And if this "word of mouth" advertisement that Sony hopes will propel LBP takes off, I imagine that game having decent sales numbers all the way into next summer.
That's one thing I like about Sony. They don't focus on one or two big blockbuster games a year. They focus on variety.
