Great score. I still think the 9/10 for graphics is too high. The game (especially the 360 version is plagued with pop-in. Sometimes an object won't appear on screen until you're 6 feet or closer. It's hard to justify a 9/10 when much prettier games have been getting 8/10 and 8.5/10 for their graphics.

But can this pull me away from R2 and Gears 2 co-op? Hmmm. That remains to be seen.

Why does it deserve AAA? If it's not a AAA game, why give it a AAA score? If the game isn't AAA, will it reduce your enjoyment of it? I don't think a game should get AAA just because it can be fun. Plenty of games are fun and I can recommend a huge list of non-AAA games that I think are worth playing.

But a game should be rated fairly. Graphics are a part of that rating. Bad graphics shouldn't get a free pass. It reminds me of GTA4 reviews where -- despite m...

An amazing deal. Too bad it's only for PC. 360 and PS3 owners deserve to play some of the classics like the original Half Life games (if they haven't already).

Most PS3 owners have already justified the cost of their PS3 with:

- MGS4
- Uncharted
- Motorstorm
- R&C: Future Tools of Destruction
- Resistance
- Resistance 2
- Valkyria Chronicles

And of course:

- Unreal Tournament III
- Call of Duty 4
- Orange Box
- Assassin's Creed
- Bioshock
- Soul Calibur 4

And let's not forget:

- Echochrome
- Everyday Shooter <...

I have said this many times in the past and I agree. Sony themselves said the PS3 will last 10 years. Considering the extremely high costs of launching the 360 and the PS3, I can only imagine how costly it would be to launch a PS4 or Xbox 720. Many developers have said that we have reached a point where improved graphics are a diminishing return. Graphics will continue to improve, but only by so much.

If Sony plays their cards correctly, I can realistically see the PS3 lasting 1...

But are they really? I'm sure I'll be hit with a ton of disagrees, but Valve's quality has been decreasing as of late. I'll still buy their games much like Final Fantasy fans will always buy the new Final Fantasy game no matter how great or crappy it is, but their quality has been decreasing. Source Engine isn't the powerhouse it used to be. It's really starting to show its age, and L4D is the perfect illustration to show that Source needs a face-lift.

But like I said, people wi...

What's sad is that high sales seem to be more important to you than a high amount of quality titles. THAT is sad!

I think the difference between this situation with Halo Wars and Ensemble is much different than the other studio closures we've been seeing. It's not like Ensemble was on hard times, nor was their quality faltering, nor were they lacking any strong IPs. They're a great studio. It's especially odd that they're working on one of the 360's most-hyped game of 2009 that has been in development for four years, and yet they get the axe. Either Microsoft's game branch isn't doing as well as everyone...

I have all respect and sympathy for "hardcore" gamers who are disappointed with Nintendo's lineup. However, can't the Wii be judged by it's own merits? I happen to love Wii Fit and Wii Sports and Wii Music. Yet, after a 30-minute session of Wii Music, I'll switch to my PS3 and play some Dead Space on Impossible using only the Plasma Cutter.

And the Wii has some great gems. Resident Evil 4 on the Wii is easily the best version of that game. Zach & Wiki is a fun throw...

I'm kind of sick of DLC.

Don't get me wrong. I like having extra content. However, I wonder how much of that extra content could have simply been packed onto the disc at launch. It's different than the old days when adding content to a game (like adding content to MGS3: Subsistence) required you to re-launch the game and add a disc.

Nowadays, since all consoles are hooked up to the internet, who knows what sort of things are cut from a game only to be sold later as D...

Yet another blogger who is under the false impression that the USA is the only gaming territory in the world...

The author also writes: "The PS3 is hardly doing brilliantly at the moment". I'd hate to think how the 360 is doing considering the fact that the PS3 has sold more consoles this year, even at a much higher price.

Lol Microsoft. You always do what's best for your friends, don't you?

:^D

6277d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yes, and it runs pretty smoothly. Obviously, having four TVs and four 360s is the ideal situation, but it works. You can also go online while playing splitscreen, so it's the best of both worlds.

Why is it that when Sony loses money on a console they are somehow in a financial bind? With the exception of Nintendo and the Xbox 360, every single major console manufacturer since the days of Atari have released a console at-loss and remained at-loss for two or three years. That's a fact. Why is it that the PS3 is singled out?

Besides, we're all gamers here. We all like getting good deals. I'd rather buy a brand-new game for $40 instead of $60, so if I can get that deal, I'll...

You know, people mock Nintendo for "abandoning its fanbase" because of the strong focus they're putting on casual games.

I'm surprised no one sees that Microsoft is doing the exact same thing. They've consistently said "F* you!" to PC gamers, even though PC gamers are what made the gaming division of Microsoft what it is today. I guess it's because M$ realizes they can get more $$$ out of the 360.

Microsoft makes plenty of mistakes. Their mistakes are even more evident when their biggest supporters (Bizarre Creations, Ensemble, Bungie, etc) don't even support them. It's hard for me to put faith in a company that not only is unable to fix its own hardware problems, but is also unable to manage even a handful of 1st-party developers.

(and lolololol flamebait! flamebait! Sony makes mistakes too. But we're not talking about Sony here, are we?)

Yet due to some sort of arcane magical formula, I'm SOMEHOW playing this 360 exclusive on my PC! Oh my!

Oh wait. I forgot. 360 fanboys only care about "beating" the PS3. They don't care about the video game industry as a whole.

@ thor

It's true, but look at all the disagrees you and I are getting. :^D

It seems some fanboys have good enough eyesight to point out a random jaggie in a random pre-alpha Killzone 2 screenshot, yet their eyesight isn't good enough to see a cardboard box magically appear 5 feet in front of them while they play L4D. It's so sad.

As I have said, I really enjoy L4D. The co-op is a blast. However, as a GAMER, I'm not going to give concessions to a game tha...
