So, they should imitate Microsoft's "brilliant" Arcade unit concept? Great for naive middle-schoolers who aspire to nothing higher than to play Halo 3 online and use "bad words" against their opponents. Lame for quality-conscious consumers who buy the PS3 knowing they're getting a top-grade product.

An article that DOESN'T condemn the PS3's price? Oh my. N4G might not be able to handle it.

2001 called. This is what he told me:

"DVD has not had a momentous year. Has it been profitable? Sure. Has adoption grown? No doubt. But consumers at large are showing with their purchasing habits that VHS is still a-okay in their lives."

I'd like to see what a "momentous year" means to the author of this article. Outselling DVD 2:1? Increasing HDTV purchases by 50%? Curing cancer?

Of course, Blu-Ray is backed by Sony, and apparently ...

Killing the console?

Hmmmm. I guess I forgot the part where the PS3 has sold more in two years (with competition from other consoles and a higher price point) than the 360 sold in two years (with a full year free of competition and a lower price point).

I guess the media will spin anything these days.

I'd hate to see the spin if Killzone 2 ends up being a multi-million seller.

"The PS3 is doomed. With Killzone 2 being such a huge critic...

Nice. PS3 wins best software lineup. Tons of great exclusives. Tons of great multiplatform games. Tons of downloadable games. It's a great time to be a PS3 owner.

I'd have to give runner-up to PC, though. A lot of great PC games came out this year, too.

I am puzzled by the media. First, PS3 needed games, and that was a legitimate complaint. PS3 needed some extra features like Rumble in the controllers and a better online service. PS3 needed more downloadable content.

Yet, PS3 has gotten all of these things in spades. It isn't early 2007 anymore, kids. Somehow the video game journalists have all become market analysts, because I fail to see how price affects what games are coming out for the system. The PS3 needs a price drop? I ...

That's what happens when you have a next-gen RPG that the Japanese want to play: they play it.

I can't say the same for some OTHER so-called "big name" JRPGs that came out on some OTHER so-called "King of JRPG" system.

GTA4 for best story?

See, THIS is further proof that video game journalism these days is worthless. And I thought it was bad when G4Tv gave Fable 2 Game of the Year...

1up will inevitably find the most minor and inconsequential "problems" with this game as an excuse to knock it down. They'll complain that the cutscenes are too realistic or that there weren't enough bald space marines.

Microsoft says a lot of things. It doesn't change the fact that they're competing with both Sony AND Nintendo.

6250d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

And make way for Nintendo?

Or were you under the false impression that Microsoft is winning?

6250d ago 4 agree7 disagreeView comment

I'm sure Microsoft will continue to spew half-truths like the 360 doubling PS3 sales when they "conveniently" are only talking about sales in the USA.

Well good job PS3. All systems had good exclusives but the PS3 definitely had the most and the best.

Fable II, GTA4, and Ninja Gaiden II not being on that list is a laugh.

If Sony fails, video games may very well be doomed. We'd only be left with Micro-"Buy, Brag, Borrow, Bribe"-soft and Nint-"no need for tech advances"-endo, and that would be a sad day.

Of course, Sony failing is about as likely as Microsoft failing, since we've seen Microsoft make many similar cutbacks within the last year. I don't see why Sony gets singled out....well, actually I DO see why Sony gets singled out, but you XBox fanboys don't want to hear the tr...

My all-time favorite 1-on-1 fighting series is Guilty Gear. My friends and I are current duking it out on GG XX Accent Core.

Although I enjoy Marvel vs Capcom 2, I think it gets WAAAAAAAY too much praise. The same goes for Street Fighter II. I've been playing fighters in arcades and on home consoles since the first SFII, so I'd like to say that I kinda know what I'm talking about. Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is vastly superior (and a far more technical game) to SFII.

Considering the amount of content in this game (or lack thereof), this game should have launched at a $40 price point. Banjo Kazooie did that and even THAT game lasted longer than L4D. I think Valve ripped off a lot of customers.

Are any true gamers even remotely excited about this DLC?

6252d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

I totally disagree with this review. The game is certainly different than SSHD on the PS3, but it's an excellent game in its own right. My only complaint would be that it doesn't have as much content as the PS3 version, but the controls are the best "dual stick" adaptation that I've ever seen on a handheld.
