Oh boy. Variety.
Thanks. I needed a laugh for tonight.
Were these the same clowns who nominated Left 4 Dead for best story of the year, or was that Jokatu? I tend to mix Variety and Jokatu up a lot...
I prefer my "premier" games WITHOUT glitches, thank you. And no, I'm not harping about the RRoD, disk scratching, or the many other 360 hardware problems.
I'm talking about how the vast majority of 360 "AAA" games these days suffer from all sorts of bugs, crashes, glitches, lag, texture pop-in, and overall lack of polish. If that's what I have to deal with to experience the "premier" HD console of this generation...oh, I suppose I can "settle&qu...
Microsoft's strategy of relying on 3rd parties is really hurting them. Yeah, they were able to acquire lots of exclusives and take some PS3 exclusives from the PS3 at the beginning, but now that's starting to change. 360 owners bragged when formerly-Sony-exclusive devs went multiplatform, but now they're seeing formerly-Microsoft-exclusive devs do the same thing. Microsoft is closing studios left and right whereas Sony keeps announcing more and more 1st-party titles.
That, and it...
While I certainly appreciate the PC for being the absolute best for graphics and cutting-edge technology, any true gamer would be missing out if they didn't delve into the "indie" game scene on PC. I tend to play my RTS games on PC but most of my other PC games are quirky games that are simply too....oh, how do I put it...."out there" for the majority of console owners.
The 360 WAS a must-buy console, but with the rampant hardware issues and dwindling number of upcoming games, I'd say the PS3 has taken that crown. What big games are coming out for the 360? I mean, let's be serious. The PS3 is backed by one of the largest 1st-party developers in the world whereas the 360 continues to lose its 1st-party studios and exclusive support. Unless you simply HAVE to play a few specific franchises such as Forza, Halo, or Gears, you really aren't missing out on anythin...
I find it interesting that all this muscle flexing is taking place on Sony platforms...
With all their 1st-party studios dropping like flies, what CAN they really announce? A $30 budget Halo title rushed out the door to grab sales (Bungie's own words; they want it to be a small spin-off)? GTA4 downloadable content? Halo Wars? The unlikely chance that Alan Wake comes out?
It's becoming more and more difficult to brag about the 360 being the console king of exclusives when...well...they aren't. Sony and Nintendo are continuing to churn out plenty of 1st and 2nd party ...
Bladestar spins more than a helicopter's blades.
Instead of addressing the issue at hand (did Microsoft steal the Cell specs to improve their own design?), you spin it in some bizarre way as a slam against Sony and the Sony fanbase. Pathetic.
"PS3 sales are on the decline while the competition is rising at a dramatic rate."
Hmmm? Unless he's allowed to ignore several months of sales data from 2008, that sentence is incorrect.
If so, this could be pretty cool. Hopefully they would update the controls a bit. Yeah, it's an awesome game for the sake of nostalgia, but if you're looking to play a great console FPS, this game hasn't aged too well.
360 needs exclusive games, but in the eyes of the gaming media, the 360 doesn't "need" anything. The 360 can do no wrong, it seems, despite hardware that STILL fails, a widening gap between the 360 and the PS3's graphics, and an overall lack of exclusive titles. Yet, the media choir still sings its praises.
Yep. Perhaps this is a sign of the PS3's eventual dominance of the hi-def JRPG landscape. Who knows?
I understand that this list is one person's opinion, but notice how four out of those five games are Playstation exclusives...
Awwww. Where's Pikmin or Pikmin 2? Both of those games were fantastic and they were actually a fresh concept in the video game industry.
Glitches of War 2 doesn't belong on any GotY list. Period. The amount of glitches in that game is intolerable, both in single-player and in multiplayer. Plus, the glitches have STILL not been fixed. Unacceptable. If media outlets can single out SOCOM for having game-breaking glitches (and they should call SOCOM out for those glitches), then Gears 2 should not have been given a free pass.
Oh. But it's Gears. Who cares if it's glitchy? It's Gears. You kill people with chainsaws. It...
So sad. Let's let the sales speak for themselves: Blu Ray on the rise; developers making more profit on the PS3; PS3 selling better in its first two years than the 360's first two years.
These so-called "journalists" have to keep convincing themselves that the PS3 is doomed. I know that Microsoft loves to buy out the competition and monopolize industries, but I hadn't realized that Microsoft was able to brainwash their consumers into wanting the same thing.
I thought Tales of Vesperia was a terrible game. For quality JRPGs I'd definitely have to doff my cap to the likes of Persona 4, Lost Odyssey, or Valkyria Chronicles, but Vesperia? Uuuuhhg.
Rushed? No....ya think?
I could list off a lot of other products that Microsoft rushed out the door but I think our posts on this site have a 10,000 word limit.
I'm glad that this list is populated by games that actually ARE bad instead of the article writer saying "LOL! Little Big Planet is teh WOOOORST!"
