Okay, so what DID the 360 have? All I see are multiplats and disappointments. Too Human, Ninja Gaiden II, Fable II, Banjo Kazooie, and Gears 2 were the only big games on the 360, and out of all of those, only Gears 2 was relatively fun and bug-free. As for PS3, Little Big Planet, MGS4, and Resistance 2 were all AAA, bug-free titles that were a blast to play.
As far as the 2009 lineup goes, way to deflect! You 360 fans are so predictable. Instead of countering my ...

It would be good for those who'd enjoy quality hardware...
And seriously, not that I'm saying it SHOULD happen, but name one single franchise that would die out if the Xbox brand went under. Name one. Microsoft's weakness is that virtually every big-name game on their system would be turned into a 3rd-party game on the other systems. Don't believe me? Oh, I'll just lump you in with all the SEGA fans who claimed SEGA games would never be on other consoles.
If anything, we should be asking ourselves if Microsoft can produce a successful Xbox 720 (though people will have varying opinions of what "success" means). Sony has proved their mettle with two 100+ million consoles, 23 successful game studios (that are still alive and kicking), and the PS3 which has sold more in its first two years than the 360 sold (funny how people neglect to remember that). Microsoft has proven that they know how to create a deficit of billions of dollars in t...
This article is a wonderful look into the short-sighted (and often blind) vision of video game journalists. They will cry "Oh!!! When is _____coming out?!?" as if that's the only worthwhile game coming out. The fact that they brand it a system seller only further betrays their unspoken belief that the PS3 lacks any system sellers right now.
Oh video game media. You're all spin and no substance now...
I'm puzzled how Microsoft can claim to be "in it for the long haul" with the Xbox brand when they're closing studios left and right. I feel bad for FASA...they had some good titles under their belt. Maybe Microsoft will learn that the console race isn't a 50-yard dash; it's a marathon.
Huh? The 360 had a great year in 2008? Other than Gears 2, can someone inform me as to how it was a great year?
360 needs some dang games, and some non-buggy games for that matter. Alan Wake? Where's that? Splinter Cell? Where's that? Am I supposed to be satisfied by Halo Wars for the first half of the year and a $30 Halo spin-off for the second half of the year? Sorry, but not everyone enjoys the Halo universe, myself being one of those people.
It's quite sad how 36...
Before I even read the list I thought to myself, "I bet they won't even put Killzone 2 on there."
Yahoo is hilarious.
You know what games need a new sequel?
X-COM
Star Control II
Terranigma
I totally agree with Vagrant Story, though. That game is incredible.
The "demise of PC gaming" has been foretasted since the early days of the SNES, if not before. The media is obviously reaching with this one. World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games in the world. Sins of a Solar Empire -- an obscure RTS from an obscure developer -- sold over 1 million copies last year. People who say that PC gaming is dead are the same who say the Wii will kill the gaming industry or that Blu Ray is dead.
"Casual" is such a naughty word these days, yet it's so hard to define. It's the same way with "hardcore". What makes a game "hardcore" or "casual"? What makes a gamer "casual"? Do "casual" gamers classify themselves as such? The two terms are really nothing more than marketing and media terms. The media says "take a look at this HARDCORE game coming out" and we all turn our heads to see. The media says "hah hah! Look ...
Dear video game journalists,
Please end this silly obsession. You are not market analysts. I know that every one of you wants to be as cool as Michael Pachter, but you're not him. You don't have any of the formal training, experience, or education required to make the statements you do. Please go back to doing your jobs: previewing, reviewing, and reporting on video games.
Sincerely,
Gamers everywhere
Why has gaming journalism as a whole seen it fit to castrate any hype surrounding this game? I never saw such pessimistic attitudes toward other big-name games such as MGS4, Fable II, or Gears 2.
It's sad when3/4ths of Microsoft's PR announcements are about Sony...when was the last time they talked about their 2009 lineup other than saying "Oh...uh...yeah...lotsa great games coming in '09, kids!"?
Frankly, I could care less about sales numbers. I'm a gamer, not a shareholder. The 360 could be 20 million ahead of the PS3 for all I care. It doesn't change the fact that Microsoft's non-existent 1st-party support is being absolutely embarrassed by Sony's 1st-party offerings. It's like Microsoft isn't even trying anymore.
Microsoft would rather brag about sales numbers instead of upcoming games? That's pretty sad, if you ask me.

Okay, so they mentioned paid. That's terrific. They hadn't done that in the past.
Microsoft counts XbLIVE Silver accounts in their numbers for total LIVE users, yet we all know that a Silver member isn't an actual LIVE user since you cannot do anything except purchase content. I don't see why Sony is taking so much flak for this. They said PSN users. Show me the part where they said "PSN PS3 users". If you took it the wrong way, that's your fault, not Sony's. Unlike Microsoft's console gaming division, their services cover more than just the PS3.
Gamers, behold. THIS is your video game industry. We should feel sorry for ourselves.
Well, I guess since Microsoft doesn't have any actual GAMES to respond to Killzone 2, they've resorted to their usual tactic of relying on internet FUD to fight their battles.
I feel sorry for the kid's parents, but we all know that this is going to be spun in a negative way to reflect badly upon video games.
It's only fair. Microsoft replaced innovation and creativity for buy-outs. Their policy of playing "me too" and buying up any market they enter was going to catch up to them sooner or later. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes and recover, but then again, when you're Microsoft and you don't actually admit your mistakes...well, it's kinda hard to learn from those mistakes if you don't admit they exist, isn't it?
