LOL. Seriously?
It's not as though Kotaku had much credibility in my eyes to begin with, but wow...Crecente nominated Left 4 Dead for best story of the year. O_o
I really enjoy playing "let's forget about the PC". It's fun.
And Gears of War, God of War, and Halo get a higher rank than Super Mario Bros? Errrr....
Fun fact: there are a few countries in Europe that have already sued (and won) against Microsoft for the Disk Scratching. Microsoft has now given them a RRoD warranty and a Disk Scratching warranty, so if you think the problem doesn't exist, even Microsoft has admitted in several courts of law that the problem exists. The sad thing is, they haven't offered this warranty in regions that HAVEN'T sued them. Good ol' Microsoft.
Wait. Halo 3 has been the most-played XBL game this year?
Does anyone else find that kind of...pathetic?
Oh boy. A Cnet article. Let's see how high Glitches of War 2 places on the list...
"ITs too late the 360 has earned the cultural symbol status(in all the hot shows, ads, movies etc etc) Once a certain number of consoles are sold then new consumers tend to buy the console all there friends got etc."
That would be the Wii you're talking about, not the 360. If people would be willing to look beyond their console preference, they'd see that the 360 and PS3 are pretty dang close in sales yet the Wii is skyrocketing past both.
You know, I wonder why there are so many "PS3 needs a price cut" articles. Maybe this is just me thinking out loud, but perhaps since the PS3's high price is a legitimate excuse for lower sales, journalists and pundits want to even the playing field and write their articles about how -- despite a price cut -- the PS3 is still failing or -- due to the price cut -- the PS3 is winning.
When developers say "the 360 is easier to develop for", it has nothing to do with the hardware. What they're really talking about is how they can leave in a bunch of bugs and the 360 fanbase won't notice them.
*The more you know*
Sales are quantifiable, and in the hive-mind sort of world we live in, a product that has 10 million blind owners is -- by principle -- inherently superior than a product that has 1 million blind owners. Fanboys will deny this, but it's true. Why else would they brag about sales. Every time someone brags about sales, they're pretty much saying "I have no good reason to boast about this game, so I'll use sales to show that a bunch of other gamers bought it, therefore YOU should buy it too...
Cry On was canceled, f.y.i.
Edit: why the disagree? It was on G4TV and IGN and other news sites:

The PS3 sold 18 million in two years at the highest price, yet it has been "sunk".
The 360 sold 16 million in two years with one year free of competition, yet it is....okay?
Logic. Oh, the days of logic. It make me want to be a handheld and PC only gamer just to avoid the fanboy wars.
No true gamer would buy an Arcade, and that's my point. An Arcade unit is great for a kid who doesn't know much about video games, but for gamers searching for quality, the Arcade is a rip-off.
And since the Arcade dropped in price, sales reports have shown that the Pro is still the top-selling bundle, not the Arcade. You can preach it all you want, but Microsoft has a long way to go before they cut into the PS2 crowd.
Y'know, the funny thing about a website (like Gametrailers) being biased in favor of one system (like the 360) is that once their supposed bias stops, they aren't really biased. If their bias disappears, they aren't biased. It's pretty simple. If a website stops being biased, why would people still call them biased? If a neo-Nazi racist renounced his ways and started saying pro-Jew things, would people still call him a racist because he...renounced his previously-racist statements?
It must hurt that games like Mario Kart and Wii Fit both sold more than any 360 title (exclusive or multiplatform) in existance. I mean, it must hurt because the Wii outsells the 360 even though it's an inferior piece of hardware AND it costs $50 more. It must hurt because in light of that, the Wii has a far superior lineup than the 360.
Steamroll...yeah. The 2008 two-game "steamroll" of Gears 2 and Fable 2 looked like a rolling pin compared to Sony's lineup this year. How many CONFIRMED 360 exclusives do we have for 2009?
Microsoft still needs to fix the numerous hardware problems with the 360.
It's sad that this game is such a huge hit both commercially and critically and the glitches are ignored.
It proves that the mainstream gamer loves to be spoon-fed raw sewage as long as it wears the label of "popular".
I'm even more ashamed that video game journalists gave these glitches a free pass while slamming other games released around the same time for glitches that were not nearly as bad nor as numerous.
It works both ways. People want the price lowered and they mock Sony for attempting to cram their formats down the consumer's throat (like Blu Ray and the various memory cards), yet they complain when features are removed to alleviate those complaints.
I wouldn't say the PS3 is crippled. It still performs all of the core functions of the system without needing any add-ons or expansions. You don't need to buy a hard drive. You don't need to buy a wi-fi antenna. You just plug it in...
It's hard to be excited about the 360 when 75% of those titles haven't been officially confirmed for 2009. If the biggest confirmed titles are GTA4 DLC, a Halo RTS, and a $30 Halo spin-off, I'll pass.
And the whole "uuh, Microsoft just hasn't ANNOUNCED anything yet! Just wait and see!" is entirely lame. What was that ONE game that Microsoft didn't announce this year? Gears 2. That's it. Is ONE game at the END of the year worth it? Is that the sort of glorious "unan...
Left 4 Dead was nominated for best story of the year.
'nuff said.
