@ pumpkinpnker
And out of those games, how many scored above 85% on metacritic?
I mean, since scores matter so much...
Numbers are numbers.
@ pumpkinpunker
I'm puzzled. You care more about sales numbers than console support?
As you said, the numbers are numbers.
Microsoft's studios: 3.
Sony's studios: 20+.
Yep. I'd say the numbers speak for themselves.
Sony has more 1st-party and 2nd-party developers under their umbrella than Microsoft and Nintendo combined. If I recall correctly, Sony has 23. How many does Microsoft have? 3? Nintendo? 7 or 8?
As a gamer, I'll side with the company that actually...you know...supports its console with exclusives and is set to do so over the long haul.
You're telling me. I was told a bunch of things.
- "HDMI isn't necessary"
- "HD-DVD is the future"
- "Uh...digital downloads are the future."
I just don't know if I can trust anyone anymore!
I'm puzzled by this newest fad of journalists writing a controversial article (a "flamebait" article, if you will) and then writing a follow-up to "explain" their TRUE intention for the article.
People should just stick by what they write. Then again, so-called "video game journalism" is so riddled with corruption and fanboyism I'm not surprised that so many journalists have to backpedal when they make an obviously fanboyish statement.
Hey now. Give the man some respect.
Although, I disagree with what he says. No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Boom Blox...those games were actually GOOD (seriously), yet they were ignored.
I find it odd how video game journalists are getting all introspective and philosophical now about reviews. Nowadays we have to be afraid of hype as if it's some terrible monster that will brainwash our minds and FORCE reviewers to dole out a high score.
Yet, where was all of this concern when reviewers were passing out 10/10 scores like candy to Halo 3 and GTA4?
The author is right though: the high scores for Gears 2 in spite of the numerous glitches in both single-...
Oh Jenzo. You're so silly. Putting words in my mouth? I call crap when I see it, regardless of what platform it's on. Where did I once mention the PS3, Wii, PC, or any other platform? I didn't. You show your true fanboy colors when you turn every negative comment into some kind of flame war. You and I both know that out of those 125 games:
- most of them are multiplatform
- some of them don't even have an announced street date
- many of the come from B-rate and C-rate...
As far as I'm concerned, it's already superior:
- It's free
- Being free, you can have as many registered online users per PS3 as you want
- The games have dedicated servers. 360 games don't.
You kids can argue. You can compare the number of users. You can claim that an online service is "teh sux!" simply because it doesn't have cross-game chat. But here's the REAL issue: what service offered 32-player and 40-player online lag-free matches when ...
After seeing games such as Killzone 2, Uncharted, Resistance 2, MGS4, and so forth, the only "challenge" I see is picking between a primo AAA first-party title on the PS3 or a half-a$$ed 3rd-party title that probably won't even get DLC support, and that's not much of a challenging choice for me...
And yet, out of those 125 games how many are worth playing, let alone buying?
Quality > Quantity.
There are plenty of good games on the Wii. Granted, not as many as are on the PS3 or 360, but people have been threatening "OMG! The Wii needs better games or it'll sink!" since mid-2007.
If by "Bioware" were are also including Bioware's predecessors Interplay (Fallout 1 and 2) and Black Isle (Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 on PC, Planescape: Torment, Neverwinter Nights), then I would DEFINITELY say Bioware. I mean, KotOR, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect are excellent games, but Planescape: Torment is mind-blowing.
Yet another awesome review. Yet another smack in the face of haters who claimed this game would be nothing but hype.
Great review. Can't wait for this game. I'm not quite sure why they only gave it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10, but whatever.
I'll say it:
WHO is Empire? No, seriously. This no-name website does a 2-paragraph review complaining about acting (Gears 1 and 2, Halo 3, CoD4, Army of Two, and pretty much any other shooter out there suffer from bad acting) and a lack of co-op (apparently games like Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid 4, and GTA4 don't need co-op to garner their high scores) and I'm supposed to take them seriously?
Oh well. We all knew it was going to happen: bitter video game journalists a...
With a chronic lack of 1st-party and 2nd-party devs, can Microsoft even ATTEMPT to match Killzone 2? KZ2 was built to show off the PS3. The 360's flagship graphical titles -- Gears and Gears 2 -- were built to show off the power of the Unreal Engine, but not necessarily the 360. Microsoft's best 1st-party devs either:
a) Make one game every six years (in the case of Lionhead)
b) Churn out casual friendly games (in the case of RARE)
I'll repeat the question: can...
Anyone who knocks the AI in this game yet showers praise on the likes of CoD4 and Halo 3 is officially a hypocrite. Reviewers will probably bash Killzone 2 for spawning enemies or "poor AI" even though they gave a pass on many other games.
See, this type of stuff is cool. It's what sets Home apart. Personally, I don't use Home that much, but that's mostly because I'm not much into playing games online. The fact that Sony offers this for free is further proof of their devotion to their customers.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing an "Xbox Mobile" if it was a gaming handheld along the lines of the PSP or DS. I love my PSP and DS, and I wonder if Microsoft could breathe fresh air into the handheld 1st-person shooter genre like they helped breathe life into the console 1st-person shooter genre with the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
Then again, handheld technology is pretty fragile, and with Microsoft's track record of...er..."super reliable" hardware, I...
