XNA is pretty neat, but it relies on C#. If you're going to learn game programming, start with C++, not C#. Seriously.
Just a tip to aspiring game programmers out there...
I nominate Aaron Greenburg.
It makes sense. The PS2 was "old tech" once the Xbox and Gamecube came out a few years later. As far as the PS3 goes, devs have barely begun to scratch the surface of the system's capabilities.
I hope S-E can save their own tails.
As far as the KZ2 glitch goes, funny how this gets a bunch of attention when the obvious glitches in Gears 2 and Fable 2 go unnoticed...
I've made it a habit to avoid anything Dan Hsu touches.
Oh, it's by Cnet, and we ALL know they're the experts on Blu Ray.

Am I the only one who remembers the fact that around the same time of DVD's life span, DVD players were floating around $250-$300 in cost?
@ badkolo
I work for a company that does public representation and your attitude of "its gaming, its not real life, its not real sports" is exactly why video games are perceives as kiddy toys for immature man-boys. If trash-talking is a part of gaming, why is it experienced so often on Xbox Live but rather infrequently on other online services? After all, if it's just "a part of gaming" as opposed to a glaring problem with one online service in particular, you...
@ 00
Of course I don't have Xbox Live. Why would I pay $50 for something I can get for free on another console? I have a 360, but I'm proud to say that it isn't hooked up to Live.
You don't play sports in real life, do you?
You see, in the REAL world, it's usually gratifying enough to simply win. It exposes a person's insecurity when they feel the need to gloat and trash talk.
"Lies!! it's a big part of xbox live. there's nothing more insecure then destroying your opponent and humiliating him even more."
There. Fixed.
It's great to see this game turning out so well. Many console RTSs have failed but hopefully Halo Wars will open the eyes of console gamers to the fantastic RTS genre.
There's nothing "crybaby" about wanting a friendly environment for competition. PSN has it. WoW has it. Counterstrike has it. Everquest has it. Why can't Live have it?
EDIT @ jib
Yes. Counterstrike has its own amount of hate. So do all the games I listed. Even PSN has trashtalkers. However, comparing the gripes of those services to the likes of Xbox Live is like comparing a teaspoon of sand in your backyard kiddy pool to the Atlantic Ocean.
@ JsonHenry
Hah. A typical fanboy response. One big difference: at a sports game you are jeering at a TEAM. I would stop going seeing sports games if every time I stood up and cheered for Team A, the guy next to me started chewing me out and swearing at me. THAT's what XBox Live is like.
I don't see how trash talking is a part of competition. I've won many matches on Xbox Live and still been called a "n***er b*tch c*cksucker" even though I won. I've lost ma...
Bu...bu...bu...but...you're right.
I'm making a blanket statement when I say that the media is biased. There are individual websites where the comment does not apply, but as a whole there is a pervading "PS3 is doomed" mindset amongst journalists. It's starting to fade, but it's there.
There's a lesson in this, children: the so-called "hardcore gamers" are a tiny minority in the vast ocean of mainstream and casual gamers. That's why -- unfortunately -- a strong advertising budget is more important than pumping money into development, content creation, and bug testing (see Fable II and Guitar Hero: World Tour for reference).
*yawn*
Does split-screen ever write articles that AREN'T heavily slanted toward the 360? Where's their "Alan Wake going to the PS3: Why not?" article? Where's their "Gears 2 is not perfect!" article? In the middle of the article, the author even says (and I quote directly):
"Square-Enix is ensuring that 360 gamers are also kept in the continuity. Unlike, say, Mass Effect, where a port of the first game needs to be released to bring PS3 gamers...
@ Dark_Vendetta
Erm, nice detective work there, but my new gamertag is Goodblock. The 360 I used to have got the wonderful RRoD so MS sent me a refurbed model. It's pathetic how people are trying to discredit what I say based on whether or not I have a 360. Any other brilliant deductions?
People who say the PS3 will die are time travellers from early 2007. You have to be on the payroll or truly ignorant if you think the PS3 will drop out with so much success going for it.
If Sony "losing" it is simply an issue of sales, this is what I see:
PS3's first year: outsold the 360 worldwide even though "it has no gamez!" as the haters claimed...and at a $500-$600 price point.
PS3's second year: outsold/sold the same (depends on what source you cite) as the 360 at double the price; outsold the 360 for the entire year worldwide except in the last 3 months.
First two years of the PS3: 21 million units sold.
