I have a much better way of determining whether or not a game is good: rent it or play the demo. Surely paying $1 - $3 is worth it to find out for YOURSELF whether a game is worth playing or not.
Maybe that's because Netflix usage on the 360 isn't as widespread as some people would like you to believe. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. It just seems out that Netflix wouldn't mention one of their major partners.
EDIT: @ Casey
Yeah, funny how that works out. People mocked the PS3 and said "Okay, the PS3 is cool....for MOVIES! OLOLOLOLOL!" and everyone laughed. Now it's "OMG! I cans watch teh movees on mah netflikz on mah tree-sikstee!!!"
There was a game for the origial Xbox called "Strike Force Nemesis" or something like that. Other than having inferior graphics, it has every aspect of the cover system in Gears 2: blind fire, the "roadie run", sliding along cover, jumping from cover to cover, etc.
Anyway, I say that because Kill.switch wasn't the only game to contribute to the cover system before Gears came along. WinBack and Psy-Ops also had cover systems, IIRC.
Well, according to this article, "winning the console war" means appealing to horny, 12-year-old male virgins...
Oh Jack. You make PS3 and 360 fanboys look like happy, level-headed school children.
If by "story" you mean "a bunch of grunts, cusswords, and shouts of ANYAAAAA!" then sure, I guess Gears has a story.
Because the first several Unreal Tournament games came out on the PS3 before EPIC...wait...
What's this?

It's sad that events like that are the highlight of your week.
Hmmmm. The rumors of a Sony/Blockbuster deal to stream movies on the PS3 makes this veeery interesting.
Stream movies + rent Blu Ray + rent video games = a great deal.
Sad that people feel the need to pirate a game instead of purchasing it and supporting the developers. Can't say I'm surprised...DVD9 is pretty easy to crack.
LOL. Funny list. Here's my personal recipe for success!
1. Pick a popular game
2. Make sure the game is an exclusive
3.a Write an overly positive/negative review based on whether the console in question is the media's punching bag or the media's personal Jesus H. Christ.
3.b If you are writing a positive review, be sure to talk about how much fun you're having, how fun the game is, how fun the voice acting is, and ignore/downplay any flaws in the game (example: ...
Gaming "journalists" must be running out of stuff to write about. Knocking the PS3 is becoming old hat, so I guess they all need to write about fanboys instead of doing their jobs and writing about video games.
Halo's online really is great. I think Killzone 2 is another step in the right direction (with the Warzone match type and the innovative new clan system). Hopefully online games will continue to evolve and grow.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony made a deal like this. They're already winning when it comes to hard copies of HD media (Blu Ray). They might as well take a stab at digital streaming, too.
Oh, and for the record:
Blu Ray market penetration: 12-15%
Digital Download market penetration: 0.5-1%
Let that sink in.
Nice! I didn't expect this game to sell so well. Hopefully FROM and Sony can get more copies out there. It seems like a fun game.
I certainly hope so. The "special edition" re-releases of MGS games have always proven their worth.
Yep. Thief II and System Shock II (a.k.a Bioshock that's actually scary) are two of my favorite games of all time. R.I.P Looking Glass.
Game critics who write these articles are completely missing the point: it isn't the SCORE that people are primarily complaining about. It's the INCONSISTENCY.
EDIT: @ die_fiend
The inconsistency isn't with the high scores. The inconsistency is WITHIN each reviewing site. In other words, some of the sites give out the score (whatever it may be) but their criteria for grading it is inconsistent with all of their other reviews. For instance, most of the reviews mention...

Anyone else find it funny how PS3 is getting all of these online-heavy games: MAG, DC Universe Online, The Agency, Free Realms, etc even though supposedly PSN is "teh crappy"?
