Sony fans called it:

Journalists would rag on Killzone 2 for being "not all that innovative" despite the awesome graphics, awesome physics, and fun gameplay. Suddenly "innovative" would be the most important thing for an FPS, even though such a complaint was never uttered for the likes of Halo 3, Resistance 2, CoD4...the list goes on.

Journalists fail for being so obviously slanted.

@ King Dong

Your comment is true. The PS1 only had a few 1st-party and 2nd-party exclusives to call its own. However, it had a TON of 3rd-party exclusives.

Your comparison doesn't match up for two reasons. First, the Xbox 360 isn't Microsoft's PS1. It's not their first console nor is it their first foray into the gaming world. The 360 is Microsoft's PS2, or even PS3 or PS4 if you count the many years of PC gaming Microsoft has been involved in. Second, the 360 does ...

@ Foxgod

Let's take a look at your list:

Race pro - a racing game? Oooh, innovative. Published by Atari, so exclusivity is not guaranteed.
Ninja blade - a Ninja Gaiden clone? Oooh, innovative!
Venetica - 3rd-person RPG? Ohh, innovative!
huxley - an online FPS with an unannounced release date?
alan wake - Release date when?
velvet assassin - Release date when? Exclusive says who?
dungeon hero - ???
saboteur - published by EA...

There's a Kratos pic because Ready at Dawn made the PSP God of War game (which was excellent).

And before anyone starts screaming about the potential of God of War 3 on the 360, God of War 3 is being developed by SCE Studios Santa Monica, NOT Ready at Dawn.

I'm a 360 owner and I'm quite bothered by the lack of exclusives, not to mention the lack of 1st-party support.

Oh, but why should I bother? It's so easy for people to write off ANY anti-Microsoft sentiment as some "stupid Sony fanboy rant" instead of thinking critically and coming up with your own conclusion.

kevincox, you are ignorant if you believe "innovation" and "Microsoft" belong in the same sentence. Keep in mind that 95% of the games that Microsoft has supposedly given unto us lowly gamers were from 3rd parties or 1st parties that were purchased by Microsoft. Very few of the games on the Xbox and Xbox 360 came from Microsoft's brilliant think tank of innovation.

To Microsoft, the word "innovation" means "buy something that's already innovativ...

Edge has been doing disservices to gamers for a LOOOOOONG time. Anyone who takes their reviews seriously needs their head checked. It's a shame that Edge can propagate their extremely obvious agenda while hiding under the mask of "oh, we're just more CAREFUL with our reviews".

If they put it on PS3, please polish up the framerate and texture pop-in first. Not that I'm trying to tell anyone which game is better, but after playing Uncharted (with no pop-in, chugging, lag, or glitches) I was puzzled by how Gears is so highly praised for its graphics when it suffers from all the aforementioned issues.

And as far as the "validity" of Gears 3 going to the PS3...well, Cliffy B DID say that Gears 3 would be on Blu Ray. Console fanboyism aside, it's k...

Why must there be an argument about which version will be better? This much is certain:

BOTH versions will be limited by the space of a DVD9. Every multiplatform open-world game thus far this generation (GTA4, Mercs 2, Saints Row 2, etc) has proven this.

If you want to play a PS3 open-world game that uses "teh cellz powah!" or whatever, keep your eye on inFamous. If you want to play a 360 open-world game that uses the 360's full potential, keep your eye on ...

Just f.y.i., Valve didn't invent Portal. A group of college students independent of Valve came up with the project and Valve simply gave it the green light. True, Valve helped develop it and polish it up, but the core ideas of Portal have nothing to do with Valve.

Actually, I wouldn't mind fighting through E-day. The battles would hopefully be huge. That was one thing that disappointed me about Gears and Gears 2. The battles were small with only a few enemies on the screen at a time. I felt like I was a space-age "Rainbow Six" SWAT team busting up a locust cocaine drug ring. Battles were smaaaaall. Okay, OTHER than shooting random inconsequential floods of enemies with a fixed turret...

Yup. I had a bit of a laugh, too.

Kinda hard to innovate and "focus on exciting IPs" when your dev teams are dropping like flies.

I totally agree with Valve and Epic being overrated, not necessarily because of their games (which are fun and I enjoy them), but because of their opinions. Cliffy speaks up about something and OMG! everyone leaps up and pays attention. Gabe Newell b*tches about something and OMG! it's taken as absolute truth.

And let's not forget that the two most recent games of those companies (Left 4 Dead and Gears 2) suffered from a lot of bugs (and in the case of Left 4 Dead, pathetically a...

That section about controlling the press sounds very similar to what Microsoft is doing now in the video game industry. I quote directly:

"So that’s how you use journals that we control. The ones that third parties control, like the WinTech Journal, you want to infiltrate. You want to get yourself onto the advisory committee that picks out which authors are published and which ones aren’t, or which topics are covered and over these special issues, things like that. Just be s...

FF7 fans have been clamoring for a remake and trying to conjure up "evidence" that a remake has been coming since the early days of the PS2. If Sony happened to lock down the remake (if/when it's coming) as a Sony exclusive...oh, boy. You can bet on a lot of gamers rushing to the store to pick up a PS3.

Western RPGs need to do some bug-testing.

As a general rule, WRPGs are 10 times more glitchy and prone to freezing and crashing than JRPGs.

WRPGs tend to be "quantity over quality". I blame the likes of Morrowind and Ultima for this problem. Yeah, your WRPG has 10,000 quests, but 9,975 of them are fetch quests that take 2 minutes to complete. Yeah, your game world covers 8,000 square miles, but 7,995 of those miles are useless areas. Yeah, you have 150 NPCs...

I would argue that most gamers don't know who HHG is. N4G perhaps made him popular, but he is quite obscure in the gaming community as a whole, let alone outside of the gaming community.

I hope they announce some new IPs. All of those listed games are sequels. Two of them are from RARE. One of them is from a studio that was closed down (FASA) and one of them is from a studio that left Microsoft (Bizarre Creations).

Please, Microsoft. Something non-Halo, non-Gears, and non-sequel. You brag about innovation and creativity. Show me.
