1. Probably better sales...I can't imagine a price cut doing anything else.
2. H-E-L-L no. I bet people started saving little by little for PS3s after last holiday season. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the PS3 is the hot entertainment gift this holiday season, bar none.
3. It's fun, different, and cheaper than the alternatives.
Broken link for w/e reason, so I can't view the article...
For every person that dumps on the PS3, there's probably 100 folks that want one, and the same applies for the XBox and the Wii.
These comparisons are all fine and dandy, but really, for a lot of gamers, it's not necessarily about the price war, because any level headed gamer will lean towards whatever system has the exclusives that they want, at least their initial choice will anyway.
Personally, I bought my PS3 first with all intentions of getting an XBox later...
but then again, all I've ever used for an HD cord has been HDMI anyway, and since you can get them for as little as 10 dollars, why not?
I'm not one that likes to quote reviews...but at least from what I've heard is that it's either the same as component OR better...NEVER have I heard that HDMI is in any way, shape, or form worse. With that in mind it's probably a safer bet just in case, but necessary, I wouldn't say so.

EGM and whoever is entitled to their opinions..as am I...and my opinion is that it looks pretty damn awesome. I'll admit, the ground combat appears to leave a bit to be desired(wish the camera was a 3/4 view ala diablo), but everything in the air looks breathtaking to me.
One of the things that stood out to me in a gameplay trailer was when the player swwoped down and snatched up a beast off of the bridge and just chucked it somewhere.
I don't know about you all,...
genuinely be because the game just flat out isn't ready? Nevermind what version, just the game itself? Isn't it possible that the developers just ran into some hurdles trying to implement some things that they would like to?
Maybe there's been a conflict of interest that we didn't know of for a while, and perhaps one side of that won and now we're facing a longer dev time to put in some things that may not have been originally featured. This is a pretty heavily anticipated, cri...
but I'm getting this game regardless(as always for that matter), because the demo really sold me.
Hopefully we get a Lair demo sometime soon, and the Darkness was pretty cool I might add, but not enough for me to buy it.
Now, I'm not gonna take this into the whole Xbox/PS3 fanboy route...but that's just ridiculous.
Displaying your stances on the internet and letting them manifest IRL are two entirely different beasts, no they ARE NOT the same, and you CANNOT compare people here to that. I can't believe I'm about to break this down, but boredom compels me, and so do the several people that buy into this nonsense as well, for that matter.
Anyway, when people say things on the inter...
Anyway, I don't believe this for a second...but since we're on the subject, this would only hurt more than it would help were it true.
Anybody think adding these components and changing the internal components even more would help the cost cutting dilemma? Didn't think so. If stuff like this keeps happening, we might see a repeat of the financial situation of the XBox, and it's sad, because from what I understand they were making about $75.00 from each sale recently(until the 1...
especially since the Helghast models and weapons already looks much better than '05.
The ISA soldiers didn't, and I think that's mainly because of the facial expressions, which are still very good, just not quite there yet compared to '05.
I expect the explosions, smoke, and other effects as such to catch up or surpass, and I also expect the environments to be there as well.
and it's a BEASTLY entity at that.
Remember the media pushing the Halo killer moniker years ago? Not so this time around. Completely different release dates, and it's become so distinct and had such a massive impact lately that Halo isn't mentioned in the same breath.
No disrespect to Halo, it's still a stellar franchise in it's own right, I just think it's testament to how GG has risen above and beyond their failures in the past and are on pace deliver a potenti...
You're 100% correct on all of those, but don't you think that they've learned from their mistakes by now?
The vast majority of the added functionality in the PS3 is firmware based anyway, and somehow I doubt they're gonna backtrack just to get rid of things that nobody supports in that respect.
Even hardware wise, we're already seeing devs use the storage capacity for games, and there are people watching Blu-Rays on their PS3s as well. I don't care what sort of e...
but I was hoping for a more lengthy and in-depth breakdown of the action.
Haze looks awesome regardless, and this along with CoD4 look to be my online fragfest successor to Resistance come the holiday season.
Merry Christmas in advance to those who catch a few between the eyes from me, and Happy New Year as well, I'm not stingy with my grenades either...I'll share. :)
I'll probably get one in February. Hopefully they ship with the 65nm chips by then, but HDMI is a nice addition. Wish my TV had more than one HDMI port, but then again, at least then I won't need to get another HDMI cable.
that the other report said it was confirmed.
In any case, I hope it happens. More people to play against only makes finding a game easier, so I'm all about cross platform play, for 360, PS3, and PC, why the Hell not?
and with the community keeping themselves occupied and entertained, then the developers can actually do something more constructive and move on to other titles and LEARN from the creativity and feedback of the community.
In fact, I'm sure Sony's learning a bunch from the PSP homebrew community, and if there's a new PSP in 3 or 4 years, I'd be willing to bet that homebrew/UCC will be supported in a very BIG way. It's half the reason games like UT and Quake are so big(well...WERE...
Personally, I think that if the user base is around 4.5 million now...it makes sense for it to jump to between 7 and 8 by January.
Good games coming out this season too, I know I'll be snatching up Haze and UT3 in December, with Heavenly Sword and probably Lair before then.
or rather, used before the runaway success of WoW.
Battle.net - hugely successful online gaming network that was FREE, and supported any number of maps from the community.
I do wish there was more user created content for Diablo, but the hackers were sure to make their mark there...
The developers really seem Hell bent on making this a blockbuster title...and with since it's release is well after Christmas season, I expect there to be between 7 and 8 million eager PS3 owners by the time it hits stores.
I hope it has demo kiosks in any store that it can, and if Sony is smart, they'll do so to reach out to as many people as possible.
Anyway, I personally like the way it looks, and although I am admittedly turned off just a bit by the color pal...
Exactly my point.
If the games they want to play are on the Wii, they'll shell out the 250.
Xbox, the 250, 350 or 480.
Same goes for the PS3...people won't ALWAYS go for the cheaper alternative, as not every consumer is a zombie, and preference does matter to some. Price is simply another factor, and not necessarily the deciding one. Some people look at two price tags, decide on a choice and save for the more expensive one instead of opt out for th...
