I don't miss it at all...
Of my current collection; Resistance, FNR3, NBA 2K7, APF 2K8, and Virtua Fighter 5, I have yet to feel "rumble withdrawals" while playing any of these games. Even in the most intense moments.
Supposedly the technology is new and somehow different, so I must admit that I will give it a try, but if it turns out to be the same as old school FF, I'll just turn it off.
This is ultimately the best thing though, because...
You're right, I'm a self-absorbed, righteous knight for the PS3. Believe that if it makes you feel better. Why should I deny you that?
What I will deny you is the leeway to simply spread bullcrap about the site and claim it as fact. There's plenty of fanatics and extremists on this site, that honestly have much worse attitudes than yourself, but the difference between you and them is that they won't spread lies and twist the truth and claim it as ABSOLUTE truth. It's not neces...
He should be enthusiastic about the console his mag is all about..otherwise he shouldn't bother.
Give a game a bad review, that's cool, not everyone will like everything, but when you're the top journalist at a publication, why would you try to turn away the intended fanbase? I'd love to see the results if Maxim and Stuff took a similar approach.
They should be reporting and covering the positive future of the PS3, not tearing it down based upon an opinion of the...
You become more and more laughable by the minute.
The little corporation you vehemently detest named Sony is run by professionals you know...but of course that has never stopped you from declaring that they're greedy, made cell strictly for Blu-Ray, cell isn't for games, etc. LoL, simply ridiculous.
XBox Live is a fantastic service, and the XBox division obviously has one Hell of a pedigree for this, but guess what? Home is not for the 360, so this Rob Smith char...
of the open world games I've seen up to now. Graphics wise anyway, who knows how it'll play, but the production value is very obviously there.
I hope with this we can all realize that having labels like "professional" and "editor-in-chief" doesn't negate the fact that individuals are still human, and thus, possess bias. That's as far as I'll go with that.
Anyway, as the editor-in-chief of a Playstation magazine, it's this guys responsibility to be enthusiastic about what's on the horizon for the platform. His comparison is senseless, as it essentially says that anything Sony is planning with Home w...
because didn't 2K publish Oblivion for the PS3 about a year later? They were VERY hush hush about that game releasing, so again, it wouldn't surprise me.
In any case though, it's good to see another stellar multi-platform(PC, 360) game released though, and in the event that it doesn't come to PS3, I'll be sure to pick this up upon buying a 360 next year.
bubbles for all.
but the last bit of info that I did read stated that TDK was actually shooting for 6 layers, and they were able to increase the data per layer from 25 to 33GB. This can only mean good things for even dual layer discs in the years to come.
Hopefully they get this project off the ground soon, but I also read that the discs can't be read with current hardware. That might be part of the reason why they haven't been released yet, as maybe they're trying to get it to work on current...
I'll drink to that.
You basically solve your own problem with that declaration. There's no way to tell who bought a PS3 for movies or games, so you can't create ANY logical conclusion from it. Problem solved.
Look at video game sales if thats any indication. Resistance is 2 million copies and running, and then Motorstorm is at 1 million. Again, problem solved.
"This is only bad for Sony in the longrun bc it will lead to a horrible games attach...
I'd also give it an 8, and for essentially the same reasons.
1. It could certainly use more maps, but what was there was fun, expansive and breathtaking. The design itself was pretty good as well, but I think ground turrets were a bit much...just a bit.
2. The infantry combat wasn't nearly as refined as it should have been. Aiming didn't feel right no matter how the sensitivity was tweaked, and movement just felt limited and robotic. It was entirely too difficult...
I wonder if this will happen, or rather, how it will happen. Will they go exclusive or multi? Either way, a blow has been dealt to both ends.
It would be funny if they cut a 16 month, 150 million dollar deal with the BDA themselves. Only difference is that they'd have a much broader audience for their content, and would stand to potentially pocket even more millions after that. Paramount may be HD-DVDs last pillar of hope yet...but it remains to be seen.
First off, sure you can ask me what console I own, it's a PS3. Never denied it, not ashamed of it, never will be. I own a single Blu-Ray movie - Arlington Road, fyi.
You are correct...nearly every Blu-Ray player sold is a PS3. Hoe does that support your argument though? all you're telling me is that there are quite literally more Blu-Ray players out there than HD-DVD players.
Translation: Higher potential range of consumers. Quote polls and such saying 13% or how...
Those 2 trailers are still a sight to behold. Fall 08 can't come soon enough. ;)
"Thank you Sony for screwing all hardcore movie afficianados."
Priceless, absolutely priceless. If this site had sigs this one would be mine.
All jokes aside, I hope you realize that the Blu-Ray Disc Association was founded by 9 companies, and currently has a board of directors consisting of 19, with overall support from more than 250 companies.
Don't believe me? It's a Google search away.
"Sony persuaded all the compa...
it's online?
I think that would breathe a whole lot of life into a game like this, as it looks pretty unique.
I also think it would be a good idea for Sony to take an approach to PS Eye games similar to that of Warhawk, and release them as $40 downloadables and as disc-based titles with the Eye included.
Anyway, if it's online, count me in. I can't imagine buying too many booster packs or anything, but I see myself buying a few here and there just ...
"And overall consumers that buy DVD players choose HDDVD."
Not true. Doesn't even need further comment, simply untrue and hasn't been proven. HD media accounts for less than 1% of the market.
"HDDVD offers more features than Bluray and the disks for HDDVD will now be 51 Gigs.
No it doesn't, they can and have used the exact same codecs, and "features" are determined by those who program the discs, not by the media themselves...
Basing their choice on standalone players is PR rubbish, and you would do well to train your eyes and ears to spot things like that. Like Akira said, MONEY TALKS, and since HD media isn't mainstream yet, a cool 150 million is probably more than they would make with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD together over the course of the agreement. It's damn good business in my opinion, and although I only have a Blu-Ray player and do WANT transformers, I won't be a fanboy and fault this company, because I think it...
Then enough people will hopefully realize that the all too common "Wii is just a refurb. Gamecube" crutch is a load of BS. I'd like to see someone light a fire under some more Wii devs, and with these screens, it's obviously more capable than it's been given credit for.
but this guy has a responsibility based on the position he's in. He's essentially the figurehead of a Playstation magazine. A title like that holds a lot of influence, and as a professional, he should use a bit of discretion with what he's saying.
In all honesty though, his opinion is stated in a manner that makes it seem that he hasn't even looked at Home or Sony's strategy from a different angle. He seems to take what he knows from the XBox platform and use it as a benchmark....
