Did that even have a plot? Fun game, though.

Tekken WAS great, the Tales series is easily among my favorite, and pac-man is a timeless classic. Ridge Racer, again another series that USED to be good, I've got fond memories of Rage Racer for PS1. I really wish the Xenosaga project wasn't cut short and scrapped, I thought that was one of their better offering tbh. Oh well, hopefully there are good things on the horizon.

I've got over 600 WU's myself and counting. I encourage anybody with the machine to leave it on and set F@H to auto after 10-30 minutes.

If anyone is worried, I've had my PS3 on for well over 5 months, having switched it off once within that timeframe as a result of a pending power outage.

Can't wait to sink my teeth into this one, the latest videos looked really good and a bit hectic at times.

but why didn't many people like Mario Sunshine?

I thought it was great fun, and very different from a lot of what was out there for platformers. Cool environments, too, I thought it was a pretty good time.

Ratings as they stand are indeed arbitrary, and they've become little more than a corporate tool that's used to dangle games from strings.

Although he makes good points about movies, the same things essentially apply, but it's not nearly as bad as what's going on in the gaming industry. That's another topic entirely though.

I will say that the quote in chapter II is just spot on. Ask yourselves how many times you see people quote scores, ratings, and aggregates o...

Break them down, build them up. It works in some applications, but it has absolutely no place in journalism. This isn't a medium with which to strengthen or toy with people's minds...there's a very particular responsibility here.

Sad thing is that people will continuously fall for it hook, line, and sinker. As the tide shifts in the PS3's direction we'll start seeing it happen to the XBox crowd too, and of course, just wait until the next big group of major exclusives come to t...

but strictly in that regard itself, in that it's popular. Subjective issues as such can only be dealt with on a case by case basis(such as reviewing a game or judging art), because everyone's perception could potentially be different.

A majority vote only proves one thing...that the majority sees it a particular way, NOT that they are correct. It will always vary from person to person, so although you are right in a sense, I think it's also fair to say that there's no one concr...

Because although their catalog is small in comparison to other devs, I'd suggest Blizzard be within the top 3. Quality over quantity, you know, and IMO, they have NEVER released a crap game...NEVER.

Unlocking can be a completely contrived mess when handled irresponsibly. By that I mean in the forms of games like Tekken, where mindlessly beating the same 8 characters in Arcade mode unlocks the rest of the roster.

Then, of course, you must beat the game with the unlocked characters to unlock something else, and then beat the unlockable several times to unlock something, repeat ad nauseum.

That sort of crap completely sucks.

However, in games lik...

It's stupid to say that there's no difference between 720p and 1080p.

It's just as foolish to slander someone or call them wrong for preferring one over the other for subjective reasons.

1080p crowd - 1080 is better because it's more than double the pixel resolution.

720p and below crowd - It's not because group X can't tell the difference in Y comparison.

One side presents a fact, the other, a fallacious bandwagon argument.

It's this simple folks: 1080p is a decidedly higher resolution than 720p. It's like saying an 8 megapixel camera takes higher resolution photos than a 5 megapixel one. Hold comparisons and 90% of people won't b...

but I have to say that it's admirable that Sony is continuing to nurture the PS2 fanbase.

Smash TV comes to mind. What mindless unadulterated fun that game was. Paperboy HD, lol. I'd like to see some classic top-down shooters return, such as Raystorm and R-Types. I loved those games.

Still though...Earthworm Jim and Vectorman sit at the top of my list.

I could totally see and EWJ revival going toe to toe with the likes of Rathet and Jak(if that series hasn't already gotten the axe, anyway). Those games were such brilliant, quirky fun.

but what about Earthworm Jim, Vector Man, and some other platforming legends out there? I would KILL to have Super Mario RPG updated by todays standards.

and it's nice to hear something different about this game for a change.

Among all of the games we've seen come and go that were hammered with complaints of being too repetitive, getting stale, not enough variation, etc. We've all of a sudden been given a title with too much? At the very least, you'd think it would be a breath of fresh air of sorts, or an "A for effort" sort of thing.

Ah well, can't please everybody.

According to him, the game is loads of fun and has lots of variety, but the variety is in some way a bad thing because it detracts from the platforming. I just don't get it to be honest. I've heard of entirely too many games get slammed for repetition, but then again, there is such a thing as over-saturation. I can't say one way or the other, so I'll reserve my own judgment for when I buy the game. I will say that I enjoyed the demo very much though.

In any case, most of the vi...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I've got too many demos now. Just two months ago, I was begging for more. Funny how things change. :)
