you speak of when AMD was top of the line. The weren't doing squat while AMD was on top, simply gluing P4s together in a half-assed manner while AMD was really putting it to 'em with their 64 and X2 offerings. Intel didn't reclaim the throne overnight...they were complacent for a very long time, and it showed, but I don't think AMD is out of the running just yet.
AMD isn't trying to play catch up with anyone. They offer the cheapest, but a competently performing quad-core on the market with the release of this processor, and you should have no issues with it if you OC.
Apparently, it's compatible with older and newer mobos as well, in opposition to Intel's paradigm of frequently releasing new chipsets.
Sure, I guess it's not OMG teh greatezt thing ever, but hey, it's certainly not bad.
Anyone ever notice that those who are the most critical, displeased, and opposed to the PS3 are folks who probably don't want one?
Day in and day out, you hear someone whining about how they're so offended and upset by the PS3 lacking game type A or feature set B. Pfft, who the hell are you trying to kidd?
Anyway, despite it all, it's good to see these sort of things FINALLY on their last legs. The tripe and bullcrap is coming to a close, and it's evident in this...
and so is their number one choice.
Sorry MySword, but I disagree about Mr. Jackson. I think he's a plague among directors, and I hope he never helms another film in his or my lifetime...but that's just me, to each his own. :D
how about all of them?
those are some massive numbers, for all players. I wonder what November will look like.
Typical, fickle gaming media. Nothing new here.
criticize the changes actually stop and think about them, or do you just shoot off at the mouth by reflex?
TList exactly what would be bad about these changes instead of crying, how's that sound?
Just some advice.
I laughed my ass off at that one, nice!
True what you say though...their first couple of outings, and in such a short time at that have both proven to be marvels in their own ways.
Bodes well for the future, but it still remains to be seen.
Ratchet does seem to be a pretty substantial improvement over Resistance, but it's a bit more difficult to tell with their radically different art styles. I thought Resistance was a very well detailed game in it's own right.
Anyway, they haven't disappointed me yet, so I remain optimistic, but I won't take talk as fact.
I hope they're right on the money, though.
than so called noobs.
A throwback to yesteryear, welcome change.
you'd have to be a purebred sucker to go for this.
I LIVE in Japan and I wouldn't charge someone so much money for one of these. Haven't bought one still though, rumble's not my cup of tea.
hope the revival is a good one. Never played MDK, but I remember ads plastered throughout gamepro, gamefan, and EGM back in the day.
It's amazing to me, but people continue to look foolish by using bandwagon arguments. I'm stunned at how someone can think such a thing holds weight. Whether you use a critics aggregate, commercial aggregate, or both, YOU'RE LETTING OTHERS THINK FOR YOU, therefore making you a sheep.
If you're so used to letting others think for you then please, tell us how Titanic is your favorite film ever. It's only the highest grossing film, you know, so EVERYONE must love it, right?
then again, this is just my perception of it.
The whole games and movies comparisons relate more to aesthetics. If playing a game were a lot like a movie, the game itself would be one long chain of quick-time events. How many of us want something like that?
I think it has more to do with things like atmosphere, mood, dialog, suspense, and any of several other things we're used to in cinema. We've lacked such elements in gaming for such a long time mostly because...
It takes time to fully harness anything. It speaks about the complexity of the architecture, the efficiency, and also how voluminous the amount of power is.
If you think that people should be taking full advantage of any processing architecture right out of the gates, then you must believe that Rome was built in a day.
Yeah, it is a pretty petty marketing tactic to make such declarations, but it's not indicative of a lack of ability on the developers end, thatis ...
Forgetting the crap journalism in the past that is. Knew it would happen, but such a swift turnaround? Wow, how fickle we've become as gamers.

the swift kick in the ass that made them completely flip their processing development paradigm on their backs.

Before it was all about maxing out that filthy clockspeed for Intel. After AMD smashed the hell out of them with the 64 AND THEN the X2's, they started to wise up a bit. I won't go the route of some fanfreaks and say they copied this or that...it's business...you make whatever moves have the greatest chance for success and productivity...and that's what Intel did.
