I just don't get the downgraded specs considering the price of $500 for the X1.... How much is Kinect 2 costing MS per unit? It can't seriously be more than $100, can it? I could kind of see MS charging $100 more with identical specs of the PS4 and including Kinect 2, but the specs are a pretty decent drop from the PS4.
So Kinect 2 better blow away any camera before it and totally change the way we play for the better. For the money, X1 users are putting a large part...
MS: "It's all about the games."
X1 Unveiling: "Look at everything except games!"
I understand what this guy is saying. You can have say Shadow of the Colossus that beats out most PS3 games. But Microsoft showed where their loyalty lies when they first unveiled the X1. It's more about entertainment and less about games. And then with their games, they'll split their resources further with Kinect 2. What will be left is Halo and ...
Imagine if Sony had put standard ram in the PS4 launched for $349. In some ways, there could have been an even bigger slaughter. The crazy type of fast ram on the PS4 is a big cost factor on the console. Putting in standard ram would have driven the cost down even further. But I'd take the extra fast ram with the $100 difference over the cheaper option.
Please DON'T work on getting 1080p 60fps standard. I would much rather they do 720p 60fps and nail the effects, filters, AA, draw distances, objects on screen and so on.
Just ask yourself this. Would you rather have the visuals of real life TV war footage in 720p, or 1080p 60fps with less than real looking visuals. Man. I would even take standard def if it looked like a DVD playing Iron Man 3. People look at 720p games and think resolution is the problem. If they can add...
Not to crap on people's expectations, but E3 is probably being used instead of GDC because the next Xbox more than the PS4 or WiiU will be about entertainment in general and little less about games. PS4 will be mostly about games and the new Xbox will probably be more about being the hub of the livingroom. Microsoft will be aiming more at Apple and Android this next generation. Of course there will be awesome games on the next Xbox, but they really will put more focus on entertainment as ...
I do like this dev, but not enough for Sony to buy them out. They struck some gold with R&C on the PS2 and a bit on the PS3, but I dunno.... Their games just felt a bit behind Sony first party titles. Resistance was quite good again, but just not quite good enough to make them first party.
360 controller for me and my hands has been the best so far. PS3 controller for me always felt too small and slipped a bit with shooters like KZ2-3
Hmmmmm.... Now that I think about it, this probably means fiscal end of the year for Sony, which is March 31st, 2014. That's more reasonable. I still doubt they can sell close to this much. 10M would be awesome for the 7 months or so they would have with a September launch.
Wut? No way it hits more than 5M sold in 2013 if they launch in the fall. Unless they can release it for $250 and a must have game. If they release it say Sept 2013 and sell 5 million in 2013, that will be a big launch in this video game climate where more people care about Angry Birds than any Sony first party game. Not saying I like it, but Sony and MS will have a hard time despite releasing dream systems for us hardcore gamers.
Even if MS could change DDR3 to GDR5 to react to the PS4, I'm not sure they would make the change this close to release. It totally completely changes the cost to put out the unit, and also changes the contracts they probably have in place to change to this kind of way more specialized RAM. I'd love to be wrong on this, but If MS has any plans of releasing this at the end of the year, they will probably will have to have this plan in place months before the PS4 announcement.
Some of you obviously didn't even read the article.
Hey, and can some of you PC guys show me a PC that can run Uncharted 3 or Killzone 3 on basically 256mb of ram? The PS3 specs are brutal by PC gamer standards, and yet I can't see a PC with the specs of a PS3 coming even close.
It's not about just raw specs. And the specs that DO matter as mentioned in the article? None of you addressed it.
Basically for those who are lazy, th...
uuuugh... Imagine trying to lasso a group of soldiers to select them using your hands. RTS + Kinect = Just shoot me already. PS Move might work with the accuracy of it, but even still.
Nice! A balanced gamer who loves racing for RACING and not for what console it's on. Love it. :)
Huh? You mention Forza but not GT which sold way more? And Fable which hasn't sold a huge amount? And not PSN?
MS has the most to lose from Steam who has had many of the Xbox "Exclusives", but where PC/PC monitor based. I don't know how many Xbox "Exclusives" were bragged about that were also on the PC. Now that "exclusive" on a console point that MS heavily leaned on is dead.
And while PSN has adopted a way more digitall...
If GT5 would have been 720p like Forza, they could have done SO much more with things like the environments. If Sony uses GT6 as a 4k game to push 4k like GT5 was for 1080p, they are going to fail hard. Don't get me wrong. I think GT5 was amazing visually and technically, but the 1080p made things wayyyy too taxing for developers creating the content. If they do the 4k thing for the PS4 and GT6, expect sub 4k cars and a few premium cars AGAIN.
Actually, I'm more interested in MS numbers this year. Last year, the only thing that really pushed them forward was an insane hype for Kinect. People now have seen Kinect for what it is, and there is very little hype for it. I'm not sure yet another Halo can match the buzz Kinect had last season. It's just not going to be there. MS have released multiple Halos by now. That's not to say Halo 4 won't be a bigger draw than Sony offerings. But MS spent $500M in ads last year ...
My point being I'd rather have Sony release a game like the Last of Us and sell 10 copies of the game and me play it than Sony focus more on releasing the next Angry Birds and selling 20 million units. I'm talking me as a gamer. Sony for me as a gamer has strayed the least out of Apple, MS and Nintendo in terms of games I want to play. As a GAMER, I don't care about sales numbers, I care about gaming experiences. While MS has thrown away partnerships and studios of games I give a ...
Sony is still sticking to their hardcore roots, and it's co$ting them. But it sure isn't something I regret. It'll be really sad state of gaming if Sony falls out of the race because they didn't embrace cut down controls on smartphones and cut down experiences on something like Kinect.
iPhone gaming is a HUGE cash cow right now, but please don't tell me that touch screen virtual buttons are better than say than the PSP Vita control scheme. Apple understa...
Who cares if it has 1gb memory. What about gpu performance and controls. I don't care if the tablet had 2gb of memory. And just wait a bit for the games. The PS3 and 360 in the first 6 months looked dry games wise. This whole PS Vita is a failure view is silly this early on.
Oh, and I love Android. But the PS Vita is way better for games.
The lack of camera will be a HUGE advantage for games because developers won't have a huge company breathing down their necks to graft an inferior control scheme onto games. I feel sorry for X1 developers that will somehow have to integrate motion controls onto some games. It will take focus and resources away from actual game development.
Not having to think about a camera allows developers to focus on what THEY want to do with a game.
Just look at Kinec...
