How can anyone disagree with Microsoft and not the Indies setting the game price? It's right there in the article.

Remember developers on the Xbox 360 moaning that they wanted their DLC to be free, and made gamers buy it? This is the same control here.

TRUE self publishing is allowing Indies to set their own retail pricing. Do you think Angry Birds would have sold as well if Apple and Google jacked up the price to say $10? Even at $5 it wouldn't hav...

This is actually pretty bad for developers, and is NOT the same.

With the PS4, developers set the price of the game period. With Microsoft, the developer sets how much they want to make, and Microsoft can jack up the price all they want.

What does this mean? If Microsoft wants more of a cut, even if it means less people buy the game, they can do it. The developer can make say $5 on both platforms, but Microsoft can price it on their platform how ever they wan...

Sony won the Indies over with this conference easily.

It's so funny. Microsoft did their 180 with Indie support, but did nothing to show commitment to Indies at this conference. All the while, Sony stayed on course, going out of their way to praise and show off the hard work of Indies in their main conference.

Just because Microsoft changes their policies, it means nothing if they don't actually show public support with actual Indie developers and actual games. Talk is cheap Microsoft.

This conference was all about showing respect for Indie developers and showing respect for Europe and unique experiences offered by European developers. They also were showing clearly that if you develop an Indie game on the PS4, Sony will have their back.

Did it offer a mind blowing experience for consumers? Not really. What it did show was Sony backing up what they said from the start. That Indie developers are welcome. Microsoft has been all talk and not really showing an...

Sony showed So much respect for the Indie community. This is only going to help them further.

Gee. Didn't see that coming with the QTE. ;)

Online only and no open world to explore. :/

4612d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

It's no longer open world. :/ That's what makes these kinds of games fun for me.

"Fable Legends makes use of the Xbox One's cloud capabilities, and thus it's not playable offline. It's also quest-based rather than open world: "

I'm sure it will still have the same humor and visual style and same combat. But I want to explore. Having it just 100% online basically makes game sessions smaller doses as well. Not to mention this...

It's hard to take MS seriously with features when they mention the cloud with it's horrible bandwidth as a way of boosting visuals.

That said, this hyper visor thing could make a difference. Probably not enough as an actual GPU and processor boost to match the PS4's specs, but an increase in ram is always a good thing.

If they are smart, they will push the X1 hard at Gamecom and have another few big titles teased. They can't just show what they've shown. They're doing wayyyy better than the first reveal, but need to convince a lot of gamers why they should spend $550 on a console that no longer needs Kinect plugged in and needs a $50 Live to have some X1 features they bragged about. Microsoft can do it though. Sony played it too easy at the last conference.

It's kind of like a guy giving his girlfriend a hunting knife for her birthday and changing his mind after the girlfriend threatens to leave him for not being even close to understanding what she wanted. Is the girl that dumb to think that him offering her flowers after the fact he offered her a hunting knife is the same as offering her what she wanted in the first place?

Microsoft was soooo off with understanding gamers and developers, that I almost don't care what ...

Which is still one of the biggest reasons to get a PS4 at launch over the X1. This unplugging of Kinect and other news of turning the X1 into a dev kit still does NOTHING for me as a consumer. Price was the biggest factor for me when they announced the X1 and still will be the main reason I choose a PS4.

Yes. Because the main issues with the Xbox 1 vs PS4 wasn't the $100 price difference. {sarcasm}

The main issues are still there. It costs $100 more with lesser specs. And now that Kinect is losing it's importance, which makes this $500 even more over priced.

4618d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

My main issue with Kinect being mandatory isn't whether I need to have it plugged in or not. It's the price of adding it to a console that should cost probably $350. Even with the lower specs of the X1, they could do amazing things with a price of say $350 and no Kinect. My other issue is Microsoft putting a load of resources and developer time into it and not into more core gaming experiences.

I don't hate Kinect with the X1 because of the tech. I hate it because it's making the X1 $500 and assuming we want to pay that much to add Kinect. Make no mistake. If Sony was charging an extra $100 to add tech I didn't want, I wouldn't be pleased. That's why so many of us are thrilled that they didn't force Move 2 or something along those lines down our throats.

Kinect better floor us. It better be 10x better than Kinect 1 because most gamers aren&#...

You mean the console that focused on media features way more than games at their first reveal is the best for true gamers? Yikes.....

4626d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

If there was no multiplayer , I could wait longer. But waiting months after a game is released means a load of other players are ranked above you with huge perks, way more experience.... It's hard playing multiplayer when you enter months late to the game.

Am I the only one who at the end of the day (when I get to play games) just wants to relax and not stand up, jump up and down, and move my hands all over the place to get something done that could be done more easily on a controller? I want to crash on the couch, put my smelly feet up, eat some chips and play some games.

I GET Kinect for voice controls, but you don't need hardware that costs $100 more per console to get voice commands done. You can use any mic to get that...
