I can promise this will have nothing to do with it coming to a Sony platform. Even if it does come eventually to the PS4, there is no way Microsoft would allow this news to hit before the launch of the X1 at the very least.
Maybe it's just me, but I think this game looks like a lot of fun. :)
I don't think many are expecting Sony to win in the US outright. But Sony breaking even in the US and UK basically means they would easily have the most worldwide sales. If the X1 doesn't sell as much as the PS4 in the US? Then they are toast worldwide.
Not enough numbers here to really show momentum, but..... Has there been even one preorder chart published anywhere showing the X1 outselling the PS4? The more of these I see in the PS4s favor, the more I think the PS4 has this launch in the bag.
I'm sorry, but this is so unlikely. I could see this happening if they were launching with Gears 4 or Halo 5, but Ryse and Forza 5 aren't going to make up for the $100 more price tag and all of the PR disasters Microsoft have made. Every preorder chart, poll, polls from attendees at game conferences, comments from both companies all point to the PS4 selling more period.
iOS games scratch an itch like a tic tac mint scratches my hunger itch.
Not saying this is true or not, but I never buy a console on day one. Wait a month and see if there are issues. Both sides would be wise to do this. Although many issues come out after months of use I suppose.
Don't get me wrong. It will sell well. I just think they lost some momentum going into this next generation. When people see the Halo 5 reveal, a lot will be forgotten. But make no mistake. Sony will gain some serious ground in the US and UK which has been Microsoft's bread and butter.
Microsoft have done it to themselves. First impressions are huge, and they totally blew their first impression. It takes a lot more to reverse people's views of things. Especially when more and more came out that was negative that eventually was reversed.
Not everyone ends up on N4G and sees this stuff. More will have tuned into the reveals and then caught maybe 1 or 2 headlines after that. It's going to take time to get people excited about the potential of the X1 a...
The more they rely on this for power, the more a game will be compromised if your internet connection slows down or disconnects. Imagine playing a game at an important part like a boss battle, and having your connection drop and have the games visuals or AI drop. It would have been way better to have a 100% always on, always the same for every player power that is included in every box.
And that's if there is even close to enough bandwidth to do something worth even men...
WHY would anyone want to play Halo 4 on a smartphone with HORRENDOUS controls? With such a great refined controller on the 360 and the X1, playing anything on a phone or tablet would be brutal.
Tech looks wayyyy better than Kinect 1, but noticed that the fingers/face get lost when he heads back to the couch area. That's about where I would be sitting with my setup, so would it be able to track me back there as well as if I was closer? I'm not convinced it has enough fidelity to track the smaller details unless you're closer to the TV than I would want to be.
The 3d representation is very cool though. They upgraded the depth resolution from 320x240 to 512...
LOL. This happens with every console. Guess what? Sony will ****UNLOCK***** more ram for developers, more processing power, and more GPU! It's called optimizing code which has happened since the dawn of computers.
PLEASE let it be a fitness game! ;)
Would love to see them put out something open universe in something like a Starwars / Mass Effect kind of way. Something where you could be a trader, pirate, privateer, bounty hunter. The universe is yours to explore.
Quads = 4 verticies. In other words, there are 4 specific points mapped out in a 3d space
Tris = 3 verticies. In other words, there are 3 specific points mapped out in a 3d space.
There is more 3d information stored in a quad than a tri period. That said, Killzone devs are probably talking tris as well, but they also could be talking their models before converting quads to tris. If that's the case, the models would have greater than 41k tris.
What I don't get is why the drastic drop. Not just a small tweak which is usually what they are doing right now. Didn't they see the performance hits months ago with the known X1 specs? I just don't get how they waited this long with the hardware in place to make such a huge drop. Does this mean this game will be 1080p again though? Is that the tradeoff for this? Or is this just a straight up downgrade to make it run properly?
On a side note, the shaders do look ...
God of War wasn't about fighting human like warriors that made it great. It's the wild beast designs and HUGE epic boss battles that made it stand out. This just doesn't really interest me more than a weekend rental to try out some of the finishing moves. I'm sure it will be a good game. It's just not a "This is why I will buy an X1 at launch" title for me.
I wonder what the specs would have been on the PS4 if they were matching the $500 price tag of the X1. $400 already is providing some insane hardware on the PS4. Imagine what $100 more could have done though. But I think they hit the sweet spot with the PS4.
Nothing groundbreaking, but exactly what Microsoft needs to standardize with all their FPS games to make it a stand out feature for their games. They need to make these kinds of things an automatic extension of their games. Would be nice.
"Perf. differences are greatly overstated"
....Meaning he thinks the speed advantages of the PS4 that have been talked about ARE there, but exaggerated.
Love the dynamic lighting and time of day. Instead of some racers where it will be "Oh right, have to remember the lens flare over this hill that happens every time because the sun is in the same place."... Lighting will play into the races, which is really cool. Maybe not making a huge difference, but a difference that will make the same tracks not feel and play the same each time.
