@JMyers
Anyone who knows anything about gaming industry sales knows that:
1) PS4 has outsold Xbox One world wide since day one so how is it news that PS4 sold more units of Wolfenstein than X1?
2) 360 out sold the PS3 in North America and the UK the entire last generation so it is not surprising that sales of a game would be higher on 360.
These two trends have been obvious and very well documented for years on the previous generation...
The rumours of XB spinning off has always been just rumours...
Microsoft has always been a company about integration... Integration across business and home, hardware and software, services, etc.
XB gives MS integration to home, gamers, and the living room. Although many people may not think it is much, it gives MS a place in consumer's heads. Which helps drive sales of all their other products as well.
There is a reason that MS' c...
@Alexious
The Order was never going to ship in 2014... Until recently there wasn't even gameplay in trailers, yet people magically thought it would go from no gameplay to polished by the holidays... $100 million games take years to make, and if you don't see gameplay it is still a long ways from completion.
I have a simple rule I follow when watching game trailers and announcements... If the game has a ship date within 6 months it is on my radar. If not, th...
That goes for all consoles this generation...
Gamers are paying $400 a pop to join the new generation and for the most part all it has been is a recycling exercise. Recycling indie games from other platforms, recycling last generation, etc.
The console vendors have to ask themselves:
"Why would anyone buy our consoles at $400 to replay all the games they have already played when they can wait two years, and pay $200-300?"...
All the drama in the comments...
As with every article that announces 1 or more xbox exclusives.
Is this really necessary?
Yep, this article falls in one of two categories...
1) The article was written by a PS4 fanboy pretending to be a "objective gaming journalist"
2) The article was written for a site desperate for advertising hits and knew fanboys would flock to it when made.
I hope it is #2. But, both are pathetic.
@All the above...
Man... The Sony Defense Force came out swinging as usual...
To Sony fans, my comments may sound fanboy-ish, but you people have to understand that if someone owns a PC and gets their indie games there, there is almost no reason to have a Sony PS4 right now. Why would someone spend $400 to play infamous, Killzone, Resogun, and Knack?
Whereas you can only play DR3, Ryse, Forza 5, Powerstar Golf, Killer Instinct, Kinect Sports...
LOL.
Last Guardian... Will that ever see the light of day? Sony has been in development for over 5 years with it... Imagine how stupid people that went and bought a PS3 in 2009 because of the E3 demo of Last Guardian must feel. They should get PS4s for free because of that.
Uncharted 4 no doubt will be good, but with the turbulence at Naughty Dog the a few months ago, they may be slowed up a bit...
Ending with a teaser to Last of Us 2. Y...
Sony has done next to nothing so far this generation. Sony's success has been a result of Microsoft's failures. If MS would've avoided DRM, mandatory Kinect, and announced the Live Gold changes they announced a few weeks back for launch, Sony would be eaten alive this generation.
If you want to play new content the only place to play is either on a PC or X1. The PS4 is striving for recycled quantity over new content.
Its funny... People used t...
I hope the focus is more on 2014.
I really don't like the console vendors going into 2015 and beyond. There is so many delays, push backs, and game cancellations that going into the long term future is very murky at best.
Games like Too Human, Alan Wake, Killzone 2, Last Guardian, Agent, etc. All were delayed multiple times and some have yet to ship or know if they will ever ship.
Unless a game is announced in 2014 it is not on my radar...
That is typical in ALL consoles. None of them have ever shipped a HDD faster than 5,400 RPM. Almost all don't have cache, and last generation they were all original SATA based.
In fact, this is true of most laptop and desktop computers as well. Unless you are moving to the high end almost all consumer electronics that have hard drives are in the 5,400 RPM variety.
Games alone cannot save the Wii U. That isn't even the Nintendo problem.
Nintendo has to start catering to what gamers expect from a modern console...
PS and XB have:
Superior Hardware (Specifically memory, storage, and CPU)
Better social features
Better online features
Mandatory achievement/trophy system
Better TV, Movie, Music integration
Better apps
Better network services
Gaming media keeps asking for new and creative content then goes and makes an article asking a new game to model it off existing games...
Excellent.
The 2 TB (Ultra Performance) Western Digital Pocket Drives are $125 in Canada at Costco.
I am just going to buy Pocket USB3 drives powered by the USB port. Picked up a WD 2TB today at Costco.
As soon as the update is out I will be moving everything to it. Should be enough for the next year and then I am hoping 4TB USB powered drives drop to $130-150 range and I will get one of them...
I added up the total storage for all games to date... It is about 575 GB. I expect the games for the next year to be around 1-1.5 TB.
It is a solid game and brings back the Wolfenstein series nicely...
Nice that it is a solid and smooth 60 fps
Graphics are solid
Pacing is great
Although linear there are many trunk paths
Gameplay mechanics are spot on
Lots of collectibles
Lots of weapons
Lots of gameplay
They hit all the right buttons.
Microsoft's news just doesn't seem to be stopping...
Sunset Overdrive, Halo Guardians, XBLG changes, Kinect unbundling, and now Minecraft in August with a discount to current 360 gamers!
What is left for E3?
@djplonker
You are not taking into account several things around XBL as well...
It is not only about free games...
XBL also has XBox rewards which gives you Live rewards for purchases of games and playing games. The rewards are converted to money into your account on a monthly basis. http://rewards.xbox.com/
Also, I followed XBL and PSN+ sales (valentines, Halloween, e...
Glad to see third parties are making truly next gen games. Now we will truly start to see the capabilities of next gen gaming systems.
On the negative side I am disappointed Dragon's Age Inquisition did not make this choice as well.
I do agree that the game is generic in that there are no new elements to it.
But, the story is very solid, the game mechanics are solid, the perks are solid, the weapons are well balanced, and the collectibles aren't overly tedious to obtain.
It probably won't go down as one of the best shooters ever, but it is a lot better than 80% of the shooters out there today.
