You pretty much summed up this web site...
@Hellsvacancy
Why don't you go and compare Microsoft's profitability to Apple or Google?
Dollar for dollar MS is less profitable than Apple or Google.
Yet MS is seen as greedy... What does that make Apple and Google?
@MoonConquistador
Gaming is not the only place on the planet for investors to put their money into. If they do not get the return on investment they are looking for they will simply go to other industries where it is much easier to make more money. You say games are over-priced, but how many developers and publishers went bankrupt last generation? That does not point to an industry that is over-priced. That points to an industry that is not charging enough for their products.
I know I will get a million disagrees for this....
But, I saw nothing wrong with Kinect bundling. To me, it is just as useful as Blu-ray on a console. Both are optional the way I purchase games digitally only.
And I had and have no problem with DRM... People complained about X1 DRM, then proceeded to flock to the PS4 where over 50% of the games are Indie downloadables protected by DRM. Tell me how that makes sense? I own every X1 game and outside of Skylan...
I completely agree. The only two similarities these games have is they are open world and they have next gen traversing styles.
These games are completely different and should no longer be compared.
Worthless is all about perception...
They've done two title updates adding two new tracks and a bunch of car DLC...
Forza is not a arcade sim. DLC comes in two forms... New tracks and new cars... Its not like arcade sims where DLC is an expansion of the world or new arcade racing types.
I do want more DLC tracks though!
With the hours I've clocked into Forza and still have not completed career mode I don't thin...
"Microsoft should stop being a dick about their security policies. they are annoying, a huge waste of time and don’t do much. publishers might think different but for actual developers all that crap is just annoying."
I don't care what a devt thinks on that. MS has kept people's data safe for years and have had no major compromises where they needed to shutdown their network for days or weeks to deal with it. This is the biggest reason why I have no quams p...
I have absolutely no problem with micro transactions. As long as:
1) If I want to I can pay one price and get the full game experience free of micro transactions
2) The game developer makes it clear how micro transactions are used in the game (aka pay gates to advance or just cheat codes to make the game easier to advance)
I played the game though all the way. I never saw a frame rate dive.
@Revolver_X.
I love it... You've played the game through you tube!
@Hellsvacancy
No Mans Sky does not look like it is doing anything crazy. Number of objects on screen are often limited and the art style is not highly realistic although it gives a feel of realism.
Really, this will apply to all graphically oriented gaming engines. They will get optimized for DX12, and devts, whether indie or not, will benefit.
I pre-ordered Donkey Kong Jr. on the Colecovision for $79.99
I do not subscribe to Hulu, Netflix or any of the streaming TV/Movie services where I do not get to the content license. The only reason I subscribe to PSN+ is to ensure I get all the PSN network services, not the free games.
Secondly, whether it is 99 cents, 15 bucks or whatever, is irrelevant to me. What is important is owning a license to use the content for perpetuity.
I laugh when people say game prices should drop. Have you seen how many publishers an...
I find it incredible that the same people that complain about digital distribution are almost all streaming or buying all their music videos digitally today.
This ship sailed long ago in music, movies, and TV. Its sailing now for games. Look at the PS4... Over 50% of the game titles available cannot be bought at a store.
One thing I strongly disagree with is Sony's policy that you have to be a PSN+ member to retain your "free" games. And it i...
I really don't see the strong link between Sunset Overdrive and infamous.
infamous is based in a highly realistic world (detail over color) - Sunset Overdrive is a fantasy world (Color over detail)
infamous is based on powers within the guy - Sunset overdrive is based on a third person shooter.
The only similarities appear to be that they are both open world and have similar traversing styles. I guess games aren't allowed to be open ...
At least there is an exclusive on X1 worth buying the console for...
I have been finding digital prices the same or less than retail prices in my region (Canada) for new content.
True though, when it comes to older content, you can usually get it cheaper at retail than digital.
But, if you stay on top of the PSN and XB digital sales you can end up about even over the long haul.
A few tricks I use:
- Never buy a good selling game day one... They will put it on sale usually a month or two after release...
Great game...
I can't wait!
Although this is not a seriously bad issue it does speak to the level of testing that Sony does. They have delayed firmware upgrades a few times with PS4, and now this. Glad that they aren't releasing crap, but come on Sony, get your act together. Amateur hour is over. If I did software releases like Sony has done so far this gen I would be fired from my job (Yes, I lead software development teams).
And it is laughable that the refund is into your Sony Wallet rather t...
What is very clear this generation is that gaming is no longer about new IPs and new sequels to games. It has become about recycling PC indie titles and recycling games already released (Rayman Legends, Tomb Raider, Metro, Last of Us, GT6, and probably Uncharted and Halo).
It is really a sad state that gaming is in.
Add to that microtransactions replacing online passes and season passes now costing almost as much as a game... Makes me walk away from gaming....
