New console cycles are driven by technology change in graphical processing, CPU processing, and memory.
There has to be enough changes in 1 or all of these to justify a new console cycle.
I hate them, but this is now a fact of life since gamers insist on no DRM, they must have used games, and they must be able to rent games.
Gamers must understand that all of these companies require this little thing called a "return on investment". If they don't get it through standard channels they get it somewhere else... Why would you invest money in the game industry if you could get 10, 20, 30, 300% more in some other business?

I still don't think that is any shock. If the games are available people will buy them based on their console purchasing intention. And all the games have been reviewed so it should not be a shock to people on how they will play.
I love it... They compare a bunch of games that have been released with a bunch that have not been released...

You have obviously played neither game. Both Ryse and Forza are visually stunning.
I also have played KZ4 and it is visually stunning.
People who critique the difference between the visuals of these three games and the X1/PS4 should spend more time gaming and less time being fanboys.
Neither Sony nor MS should be ashamed of their consoles.
I do not know a single person who paid to get their RRoD replaced. MS spent $1.1 billion cleaning up that mess for gamers.
I am enjoying the games a lot.
Ryse is repetitive but gorgeous, and even though it is repetitive I haven't felt bored yet.
DR3 is just pure unadulterated fun.

Forza 5 is everything you expect from a Forza game.
Powerstar golf is a nice downloadable Hot Shots clone-ish.
Lococycle is decent but not great.
Zoo Tycoon is fun for my kids.

I don't mind the business models for the developers, but every game should have a "I want the whole and real experience with free-to-play BS". If that's $60, then I am fine with that.
Free to Play is almost never truly free to play...
They either hit you with advertising which is annoying, or they micro-transaction to death, or you have to grind for hundreds of hours to make progress.
The bigger question is why a PS fanboy is even interested in an X1 thread? They are apparently riding greatness so why even bother looking at X1 stuff? LOL!
So PS4 had a million for launch in NA...

Yep, just like Sony suckered millions of gamers to shell out $600 for a PS3 in the first year and see backwards compatibility and a much cheaper device released a year later.
