Given that both companies are putting out day one firmware updates I doubt anyone can really say the shipping PS4 or X1 is worth anything until it is updated.
The same was said about PS3 vs. 360 last generation. While PS3 was struggling to maintain framerates during the first three years, 360 was cheaper and delivering better playing multi-platform games.
This generation it is reversed. PS4 has the easier to develop on platform and are hitting higher framerates and resolutions to start with.
Whether they maintain that as the generation moves forward is still up in the air.
Gamers won't know what console is truly better for at least another 2 years. Look at last gen as a perfect example. The first multi-platform PS3 games did not come close to 360 in framerate and resolution, but as the generation progressed, devts learned how to get everything out of the PS3 device.
This generation may be the same way with X1. No one knows for certain. New consoles that have new architectures take time to understand fully.
Every game could take more time to polish and complete. I lay more blame on developers than pubs in these cases. Devt goto the pubs and tell them how long it will take or the pubs goto the devts and say when they want a game to ship.
It is up to the devts to ensure they plan and schedule the build of the game within the scope of the project.

I agree. It seems like gamers are wandering stores looking for any reason to hate on the console they are not getting.
Both Sony and MS will ship solid hardware this gen.
Why is that cocky? They just said it is a successful model?
A lot of the car companies and tracks want royalties to put their stuff into games like Forza...
Paid DLC allows everyone to win... MS gets profit for the DLC they release, the tracks and car companies get profit, and the gamers can get all the stuff they want by picking and choosing their favorites... Why should MS have to take a financial loss to release a game they can't make money at?
Review scores give indicators. +90% you usually can't go wrong... between 75-90 I am usually pretty satisfied with the games purchased...
Below 75% I have found a few games that didn't deserver the bad rap... They weren't necessarily AAA must haves, but some often provided some enjoyable entertainment... Binary Domain, Quantum Theory, Viking, Dynasty Warriors, Too Human, Deadly Premonition, etc.
@Irishguy95...
Deadrising is not a lame franchise. It may not be your type of game, but there are a lot of people that are fans of the franchise. If you think Deadrising is lame, you are not a gamer. Gamers don't call franchises like DR lame.
@SpinalRemains138...
Like last generation when the PS3 started out with substandard framerates on many games, I am sure the X1 will pick it up as the gen continues.
As for "l...
Why is that not good? I would rather have a well polished game that is really fun running at 30 fps and 720p than a game that was absolutely gorgeous, ran at 60 fps, 1080p, and had lousy gameplay and was very boring.
Not every game this gen will be 1080p and 60 fps.
Developers need to choose where they spend the GPU and computing power. I would rather see it spent in gameplay, AI, and environment control rather than in a pretty screen.
Yet another X1 exclusive that looks like it will be undeniably fun to play...
Deadrising 3, Forza 5, Crimson Dragon, Powerstar Golf, Lococycle, and Ryse are all looking like exclusives that are worth having...
Oh, and I forgot... I am one of the lucky ones that got an e-mail for Killer Instinct 3!
I can't wait!
And that will sum up the problem that this next gen faces...
X360 and PS3 both had good visuals.
Now we are going to great visuals...
But the naked eye that is playing a game probably won't see much difference between them.
When I look a the details... Trees, lighting, buildings, tunnels, etc. you can see a difference... But who is going to notice the details when you are speeding at 150+ mph on a racing track against ...
1. Unproven that the UI is any better than PS4 as the real interface has yet to really be shown.
2. Exclusive quality is a matter of preference not fact. What is a fact is that MS tends to have more exclusives early in the gen then Sony and Sony has more exclusives near the end. This should push typical gamers to buy X1 now and PS4 later when their exclusives start really showing up.
3. I have used the new controller and I feel it is better. Lighter and the trigger feedback...
Microsoft's xbox people have been clear all along that they play games on all platforms.
Not really news.
Call of Duty definitely sold the most this past generation but I definitely would not call it the "series of the generation". The Infinity Ward Call of Duty's were a centerpiece of the the generation, but the non-Infinity Ward CoD's were not the greatest.
Other series that helped define and to me could've been considered as "series of the generation" were:
Unchartered
Mass Effect
Gears of War
Elder Scro...
And this is why I think that technology companies are dumb to be on the stock market. Technology companies more so than regular companies have to be able to adjust to the rate that they can release tech and to market conditions which both often weigh on profitability...
The stock markets hammer companies that are not able to have consistent results. And no technology company whether it be Samsung, Apple, Google, Microsoft, or Sony can keep year after year perfect profits....
These constant comparisons got old about three months ago...
And so does Facebook, Sony, Google, Apple, etc...
This is really nothing new.
I had the corrupt save issue at 80% game progress. Took my DVD to the back yard put it on a chopping block and used my 10 LB axe to fix it...
Good news...
I no longer have to worry about corrupt saves. I will no longer spend time on Arkham Origins, and I will not buy another game with Warner Brothers Montreal name on it.
I really wish there would be more articles about games and less about what some sony or Microsoft guy said.
I have to admit Sony marketing knows what they are doing. Can't wait to bring mine home and play the only three games worth having at launch...
Killzone, Knack, Resogun...
Gotta get them done before the week after when I get my X1 and will be playing...
DR3, KI3, Forza 5, Lococycle, Crimson Dragon, and Ryse...
Not to mention the cross-platform games.
Games, games, games... That's what its all abou...
