No they aren't. They have to be conservative so that their stock prices keep climbing.
If they would've made aggressive estimates and the consoles sold less that would send their stock prices down. By making conservative estimates and saying the consoles of the future exceeded estimates their stock prices will increase.
I agree that last gen Sony ate a lot of crap last generation but that was a lot of their own doing and over-promising.
Check out this Wired article that went back and reviewed the PS3 promises:
http://www.wired.com/gameli...
They promised that they were capable of doing games at 120 fps (Page 2 of the article)! Then, when they shipped many games couldn't ...
I don't either.
But, it seems that the Sony loving gaming "journalists" (I use the term journalists very loosely) and Sony fanboys have made it a huge issue since this gen's launch...
To me, 30 fps is the acceptable level, and everything above is gravy. I doubt that this gen will sustain 60 fps. Especially when truly next gen gameplay and (if) 4K games appear.
I've played DR3 for over 50 hours. Not once has the frame rate appeared to drop. The review builds and the conference builds may have dropped below 30 fps, but from my play thrus it appears Capcom patched this appropriately on Day One.
Depends who you ask.
If it is PS fanboy they will say it is everything. 60 FPS and 1080p is all that matters.
If you ask a XB fanboy they will say it isn't a big deal.
Sony has to work on profitability.
They have a lot of cash reserves so they are not in any real trouble, but if they don't become more profitable then they will continue to hurt.
Also, being downgraded to junk status with their stock didn't help.
It really doesn't matter how many PS4's they sell. Investors look at returns on the dollars they put in. If they can get more return dollars elsewhere they will avoid Sony.
@cozomel...
TLOU is very relevant as a comparison. It is just not fair to Sony fanboys who constantly keep bringing resolution and framet rate up as an issue.
The fact is that it is only an issue if people choose to make it one. And Sony fanboys love to make it an issue right now.
Quantum Break and D4 should've been there with Titanfall, Project Spark, and Sunset Overdrive.
So, which game is better looking?
Shadowfall is the only game that competes with Ryse in looks...
So, "not a chance" becomes, "there is only one game that certain fanboys think is better".
I don't know of a single media article by a cross platform reviewer that said shadowfall is better looking than Ryse. Sony fanboys and sony only reviewers say Shadowfall is better, Xbots and xbox reviewers say Ryse is better looking...
@Lukas_Japonicus...
So what is the minimum resolution and minimum frame rate acceptable?
What you have said is that there is a difference... But what is acceptable for a game to be able to be good?
What I am hearing from you is that last year's universal game of the year "The Last of Us" runs at 720p and 30fps and therefore must "look horrible" because of it...
Resolution matters only to a certain point...
The difference between 480p and 720p/1080p is very significant. The difference between 720p and 1080p is noticeable in stills and during sniper zooms, but not very noticeable during regular gameplay.
Really, this a law of diminishing returns. As resolutions get better and better, their real "wow factor" gets less and less in relation to the previous resolution.
To me, any game that has...
Patcher is a joke.
The key to PS Now is going to be the pricing model. Depending on how the pricing model is, will mean success or failure of the service.
Excellent.
I will dub this and the March update, the "360 Updates".
Essentially, to put the XO OS on par with the functionality with the 360 OS.
I know a lot of people thin MS could've did better for launch but given the changes they made based on the negative gamer feedback they had a lot to do. Hopefully, they will continue giving us what we deem as priorities and keep improving the OS well past what it was on 360.
I just looked it up and they say timed exclusivity... I guess a week or two is timed exclusivity this gen...
This looks to be a strategy that devts and pubs are taking this generation. Take a game that was successful (Tomb Raider, GTA V, Rayman Legends, etc.) and port it to next gen. I doubt they expect to make much money from it but what it really does is give the devts and pubs money while they are learning the new consoles, which is invaluable.
That way, when they start devting true next gen games they already have a game engine to start with that is sitting on the new console ...
If I remember right the deal was through 2013. So it makes sense that it may have ended.
Just like they don't call the PlayStation the DelayStation for nothing....
How's DriveClub and Last Guardian coming along for the DelayStation?
I said if it is found to be fraudulent. I have no problems with rumours and leaks, but if they are found to be made up or false, I think the news organization reporting it did not do enough of a background check to substantiate it and should be banned from N4G.
That would get rid of or significantly reduce the BS articles on this site.
And that's why I visit this site less and less...
It used to have news articles and be a great source of gaming information...
Now, it is overrun by over-zealous fanboys that are doing sony's marketing for them.
Why is it a shame?
Game value has a direct correlation to how much time you get from playing it through and then how much re-playability the game provides. I doubt too many people would pay $60 for a 20 minute game.
It is like movies... They don't charge you $15 to go to a 15 minute movie. Full price movies are almost always at least 100 minutes. If you don't have enough content for a full movie you don't charge $15 to see it. You call it a sh...
