I'm not sure console gaming is on good footing.

I buy a lot of games. All were bought at retail prices, and none are used... You could say, my spending and people like me fuel console vendors and game publishers with money.

I like to walk in the store, pay one price and get the entire game experience. With all the new supposedly F2P, micro transaction, etc based games I am frankly turned off of gaming as a whole. When faced with a 15 hr grind to play ...

I agree. If you pay extra to get a "Premium" experience you should not be exposed to ads.

I cannot disagree more with these types of articles.

Just like you pay for fuel to run a car, you have to pay for the services "aka the fuel" that run the games online.

I work with companies, data centers, and networks. The infrastructure that Sony and Microsoft have deployed are 100's of millions of dollars to get up and running, and require 100's of millions of dollars to maintain and keep running. Especially, for games like Killzone, Co...

Releasing a downgraded game graphically supports the delay was real and necessary.

Although I do think publishers work with each other and manipulate to maximize sales (Ex. Dark Souls II released yesterday on PS3 and X360, and Titanfall was delayed on X360... Coincidence? Nope. AAA RPGs need no other AAA releases in the same week they release to maximize sales), you look at the factual record and it supports the theory that Ubisoft had real issues with this game working ju...

I agree...

By delaying, they were simply admitting the game was not ready. Gamers don't need to like it, but they should strive to understand that it was necessary.

I really want X1 to support external drives ASAP. To me, this is the one and only feature that is really missing now that they have completed the recent updates.

Nope. I just know how the gaming press and people on this site work...

If Microsoft screws up they need to be persecuted on the spot, we must remember this for 25 years, and never trust them.

If Sony screws up everyone needs to understand, forgive, forget, and give offerings of faith.

Truth be told, I haven't started up my copy of Titanfall yet and probably won't for a few weeks. Unlike many fanboys, I don't think this will be my...

If this was a Sony exclusive the title of the article would've been

"Titanfall PSN Connection Issue - Don't Worry Sony is Working On It!".

@Kobe357

You must be drinking the Sony Kool-Aid pretty heavily.

If you have the games already they have zero value to you. Especially since they are digital. You cant resell them.

I play online games like Shadowfall, therefore I have to pay for PS+. I have no other reason to buy that subscription.

You seem to think I am saying PS+ is bad... I am not... What I am saying is that things that people think add "value&q...

@Kobe357..

Like I said, if I have the games already then getting the same game free does not have any value. There has not yet been one game on PS+ that I didn't already own.

As for the services being free that is now BS on PSN. You must buy PS+ to play most games online with PS4. So it is not a free service. That is the primary reason I have PS+... I can't play most games online without it.

"Value" is a matter of perception and circumstance.

I have both PS+ and XBL...

I buy all multiplatform games on XB because my PERCEPTION is that Live always works... I have never experienced an outage with Live. But, on PSN where I only play exclusives, I have experienced many outages and issues.

Also, I buy a lot of games on release day, so my CIRCUMSTANCE is that free games don't add any value when I already have them.

@andibandit

Sony certainly has a really good marketing strategy... What other console company can announce games that never release and still have people buy their console for those games?

@BABYLEG

Yep. This is why I don't count any game until it has a final ship date.

This happens too much, especially with PlayStation. Lair, DriveClub, Agent, Last Guardian, LBP, Killzone 2, etc. are all examples of PS exclusive games that got delayed more than a year.

I applaud Playstation exclusive publishers for wanting to get games right... I get angry with PlayStation exclusive publishers because their planning/scheduling stinks.

@SilentNegotiator...
Really it depends on TV size... The bigger the TV, the more noticeable it is... I will give you that... 720p on an 80" TV is noticeably blurry-er than 1080p on an 80" TV. But when we are talking 25" - 50" TVs you probably won't notice much difference.

@Cuzzo63...
Yep, because everyone puts two HD TVs side by side to compare their 720p games with 1080p... Honestly, don't you have any games to play rather tha...

First, I don't see too much bad with Games with Gold. You may not like the games, but they have put out a lot of variety in the games and almost all were of good quality.

Second, Sony has had a multi-year head start with their service and I would not doubt that part of their essential "buy-out" of games is probably a clause that the publisher cannot do the same on another platform.

Third, MS start Games with Gold late last year. Most of the ga...

The article gives no evidence that the X1 is on its last life.

A single quote from Medhi talking about how important Titanfall is does not mean X1 is on its last life...

And the writer compares X1 to PS3, which after stuttering in its first few years ended up selling well, but not as good as PS2...

There is a lot to go this generation still. I'm not say X1 will beat PS4, but to write it off a few months after launch, and with what seems l...

Seriously, the gaming media and gamers have way too much time on their hands if they are writing about this still.

I admit that my X1 will run the same games at a lower resolution than my PS4...

I also admit that I bought my X1 at $100 more expensive than my PS4... (Actually, $200 more because I got my PS4 for $200)

And believe it or not I still prefer to play my games on X1 over PS4... Why? Because of other things like XBox Live, Achieveme...

I'm not sure that one game can ever really be considered a console seller to the core market. It is more about the entire library.

Titanfall + DR3 + Forza 5 + Killer Instinct...

All MS exclusive and all top notch... Not at all disappointed with my purchase so far...

4359d ago 8 agree3 disagreeView comment

Resolution matters... Just it is a law of diminishing returns thing...

1080p to 480p is a significant difference...

1080p to 792p not so much obviously...

Anything 720p above should be considered respectable.

I am more concerned about whether the game can hold its frame rates steady at or above 30 fps. Since they advertise as 60 fps this should not be a concern...
