Kinect is no different than any other technology. Computers, consoles, 3D, VR, WiiMote, etc. all started with grand promises that were not met.
That doesn't mean they should all disappear after the first or second versions. It just means that they need to find their niches. Kinect is not good for everything, but there are some games it does really well. Dance, virtual sports, and fitness are all great examples of games that completely suck without Kinect.
Can't wait! Forza 5 and Xbox One just keep improving!
Definitely worth playing twice!
Forza 5 is running at 1080p - 60 fps...
If they are aiming for parity then that would mean the PS4 can't do it... X1 has already proved it can do racing games at 1080p - 60 fps with photo realism.
Sony hasn't even been able to get their first, first party racing game to ship for PS4 yet!
There are many problems in the industry.
Devts have to dumb games down so that they make money...
If more people bought their games new at retail from the devts/pubs then maybe they wouldn't have to?
Just something to think about...
Graphical innovations are not raising costs...
Studios have lots of tools to make very detailed, awesome characters, and environments... Its the game play interaction with those environments that costs a lot to produce. Coincidently it is what makes each game unique as well.
E3 should show us a great lineup of exclusive content.
Can't wait to see what the Sony chefs are cooking up!
There is no mistake when you get and exclusive on your platforms and it rates 86 on Metacritic.
The cost of developing AAA games like this are high. By shipping on PC, X1, and X360 Titanfall will probably get 3-5 million in sales by the end of the year. For a new IP and platform exclusive to do that is impressive.
I don't know why these articles are out there...
PCs: Keep evolving and changing with the latest enhancements in graphics, CPU, memory, and storage technology.
Consoles: Are locked in with a technology at the start of the generation.
For the first 6 months to 1 year of consoles they are usually capable of exceeding PCs. But, after that they fall behind and the latest PCs exceed console capabilities. There is no secret sauce in consoles ...
Peter is becoming as bad as that Jonathan Blow... Maybe he should just stop talking and start delivering something worth talking about.
Peter has never delivered a game that lived up to his promises.
Peter will go down in gaming history as the "Would've, Should've, Could've, Didn't" games studio leader. The dreamer who never really knew how to tie his dreams to reality.
To me, it is too early to tell whether he is good or bad for X1. So far things look good, but you won't really see his decisions and direction really come to fruition until E3 or later.
@Ninver...
Not bitter and you are free to buy what you want... I'm just tired of seeing stupid comments like yours in XB news articles by PS4 gamers... And stupid comments like yours by XB gamers in PS4 news articles. Yes, it goes both ways.
This is a gaming site not a fanboy site.
Not as good as Sony's BS...
wtf does that have to do with this?
But you left out that the free games offered by Sony so far on the PS4 (excluding Resogun, but X1 gave everyone Killer Instinct) are just a bunch of recycled PC Indie and PS3 games that they shouldn't have charged for in the first place.
It's OK because Sony knows their fans are simple.
Deadlight is a really solid GwG game. GwG got out to a rocky start, but, the choices the last few months have been getting better and better.
Microsoft has said they want to do system updates more frequently and on a monthly basis with X1... They are fulfilling their promise.
That said, I find that both Sony and MS's system were both rushed out so I will agree on that front. Both have had substantial updates that make you wonder how they shipped incomplete products. Remember, Sony still hasn't implemented a lot of media playback features that were in PS3.
But, MS seems to be better at sy...
Why do people continue to do this? These articles are dead horses beaten up long ago...
X1 and PS4 are both great consoles.
Some will choose to buy X1 for its games, apps, music, movies, TV, and Kinect support...
Some will choose to buy PS4 for its games, apps, music, movies, TV, and PS Camera support...
You need to stop talking like you know something when you don't.
I was at Build 2014 all week and have gone to almost every Build and (formerly) Professional Developers Conference since the late 90's. The talk they gave is no different then any other talk they give at Build. Build is about leading edge software development techniques using MS tools... NOT PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS... NOT GAMING...
They talk theoretically and give demos. I don't...
Your comment is lacking this little thing called proof and facts.
If they go from Killzone / Ryse type graphics to Minecraft type graphics I agree gamers were misled.
But when you see the "downgrades" in Forza 5 and Watch Dogs... I look at the gamers who make a big deal about them and think, they must be bored with playing games because they have time to think about such small stuff.
Forza 5 looks great, same with Watch Dogs. When you are travelling at 200+ mph down a track in forza the "downgrade" is ...
