What do they need to do more of since you are such a rocket scientist?
Games?
They have released the following new content (sequels or new IPs) this generation on X1 first: Forza 5, Crimson Dragon, Deadrising 3, Ryse, Titanfall, PvZ Garden Warfare, Peggle 2, Max Curse of Brotherhood, and Powerstar Golf.
The Console?
They reversed their policies on DRM and requiring Kinect to be turned on before the console launched.
The OS? <...
It is unnecessary. 8.1 was mostly a UI update to the OS not a large core OS update. Same with Windows 8.1 Update that is about to release.
The important update will be bringing DX12 to X1.
@neoandrew
That is a fact less comment. First Win8 is full backwards compatible to Win7 when you are using a x86 based processor. It is only the UI that really changed.
Second, there have been several iterations of Win8 to improve it. It was touch friendly but not desktop friendly in the first iteration. 8.1 made it desktop friendlier. And the new Update to 8.1 takes it another step towards being a solid interface for both touch and desktop users.
I have the Xbox pages as a favourite in my browser, I don't see any difference between it and an app.
More Exclusives
360 had just as many exclusives. Sony focuses their exclusives at the end of the generation. 360 brought their best exclusives near the start of the generation... Gears of War, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Halo, Project Gotham Racing, Viva Pinata, Kameo, Crackdown, and many others...
Longer Software Support
360 is a year older and in the past six months has seen World of Tanks, Fable Anniversary, Titanfall, and now Warface. Support...
Same here.
The games keeping coming and they have more replay ability and quality...
Deadrising 3, Forza 5, Ryse, Powerstar Golf, Killer Instinct, Halo Spatan Assault, Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, PvZ Garden Warfare, and now Titanfall.
I can't say that I disagree with anything he said...
This review was spot on!
There is nothing wrong with games solid at 30 FPS...
To get better gameplay, AI, and additional interactivity with environments more and more games will be 30 FPS...
Yes, there is a difference for resolution and when you compare both side-by-side you can really see it. But, during gameplay most people won't pay attention to that.
They will however notice a large difference from frame rate... That was my only beef with TLOU... Now, that changed I am going to play it again!
LOL. Titanfall has already lasted.
Most games come out and disappear from the charts in 3 weeks. Titanfall has stayed top 5 all along.
Once Destiny comes out we will see a shift, but Titanfall will rule the summer for online shooter sales (With or without a single player campaign).
Sony didn't just wake up last week and decide to do TLOU for this summer on PS4... LOL!
Porting from the Cell based PS3 architecture to the PS4 x86 architecture for TLOU has probably been in the works since last summer at the latest.
Software development isn't like waving a magic wand... you don't just think it and it is done.
As for Netflix, I don't even have the app for the XB so how can you say people are paying twice for ...
You are correct. This specific news article is only about fixes to people who are previewing the next X1 update for April.
The reason people are disagreeing with you is that your OP is:
a) Talking about how MS should not have had these issues in the first place. This specific news article is about an update on the preview program. The reason they do a preview program is to catch bugs/fixes before it is widely distributed to everyone. So you are incorrect ...
Yep, in the middle of a crazy shoot-out or survival gameplay, gamers are going to notice the difference much...
Sure...
The difference between 720p and 1080p is noticeable as I stated, but in the middle of gameplay it is more subliminal then at the front of your mind. 60 fps will make more difference.
I played MGS Ground Zeros on both last gen and this gen consoles... I did notice differences in the environments, but they were negligible and...
It is a next gen (first) game ported back to run on a last gen console. The degrades to get it working on 360 are completely understandable. This is merely common sense and logical.
I saw nothing in EA's advertising or hype of Titanfall that said both versions would be exactly the same. I have played both versions and they are both just as fun. But, the X1 version is obviously (and should be) superior.
I'm sure people can see differences between the two, but those differences won't be easily noticed by gamers.
The big difference I am excited about is the frame rate from holding 30 consistently to 60 all the time.
Can't wait to play this game again!
The gaming news media continues to focus on stories that no one should care about.
PS4 has 6.9 million in sales, X1 4.3 million in sales...
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know which game should sell more on the console platforms (excluding PC).
You are implying that the speed of the hardware is the only thing that adds value to a console.
It is a significant component, but last generation the Wii had inferior hardware and as far outsold both 360 and PS3.
Some people look at other aspects of the machine.
Some people see value in XBL because its uptime is generally accepted to be higher than the PSN.
Some people know that MS's track record on console and network s...
@Scatpants
Have you seen any gameplay from the game? It's physics and mechanics are almost exactly Halo. The size and openness of the environments feel like Halo as well.
The art direction is different and the weapons are different, but they have many of the same characteristics as Halo.
By the way.... That is not a bad thing... If you have solid gameplay, mechanics and general environment designs that are top notch then re-using the...
Outside of the bike screen shot shown the Halo influence is way more than star wars. everytime I have seen gameplay I think this is more a next gen halo then a new bungie game.
When I saw last year's Black Tusk tech demo at E3 the first thing I thought was Perfect Dark...
