People are always quick to attach the 'hate' label to valid criticism that they strongly disagree with. By all means offer a counter opinion but don't write it off as hate, thanks.
"your blog is sooooo clever and full of wit"
Gee thanks
And thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my personal blog, I'm glad my opinions elicit such emotional and passionate reactions, normally means I hit close to home.
"I think Microsoft has been the victim of journalistic entrapment"
Oh dear, the conspiracy theory defense, if only there was some kind of paper-thin metal head gear that could shield us from their thought manipulation rays.
Yes, you're right I should have said "decent game". That should open the gates for the argument that "decent" is subective :-)
When was the last time Rare made a AAA game?
Rare have no soul.
@strongman Thanks, I genuinely couldn't remember.
edit: I hope it's Killer Instinct, one of my fave games on SNES. Wonder if they have it in them to redeem themselves.
"Microsoft on the other hand appears to be changing the gaming landscape"
It's what they're trying to change it into that has me worried. I have a cable box and I have a PC, I want a GAMES console!
I suppose you don't have to have much substance if people aren't expecting much.
Right now I can only say yes to PS4, simply because we have no info on Xbox 3.
MS have got to convince me that games are their main priority before I commit to their next console.
I need to see that same commitment to games from MS at their reveal. I fear they have too much to dismiss (always online, used games etc) that it will get in the way of what they want to say. Even with 2 hours they won't be able to fit in the content Sony had as well as explain the direction of their TV/entertainment focus.
They have their work cut out for them.
I think if this generation has taught us one thing it's that even against a year head start you just can't stop the Playstation brand.
You're right, of course that only holds true if MS manage to follow through and totally top the PS4 announcement, which is hard to believe for many atm.
"All that changed when Sony announced the date of the PS4 event which caused everyone to change their minds."
You're right, the PS4 reveal was so well done that it changed a lot of peoples minds about next gen. They liked what they saw and now they're up for it.
@logic below - Read my comment again, you'll not my use of the words "a lot of peoples minds" as in a lot of people, not all. I would read carefully before critic...
The Xbox 3 reveal is suffering from being second to announce, in that people were totally expecting it. Unlike the PS4 reveal announcement which came out of nowhere, I remember people didn't even know if it even would be the PS4, the speculation and hype went through the roof. So, being the second to announce is always going to make less of an impact.
@LOGIC Not an assumption, an example.
"What about the majority of console owners who will simply say "screw you" to next gen consoles and stick with their current gen consoles?"
Er... weren't you the one who said "...people have the option of buying other consoles."
So I guess I was following your very own assumption there, again PS4 was just an example, which being the main competitor of Xbox 3, I thou...
It's only timed exclusivity because it gets cold and/or mouldy after a while.
Tray and toppings sold seperately.
@below - No good, it would scratch the base to shreds.
@SatanSki
Exclusives are going to happen, why bother having more than one choice of platform if there's nothing to differentiate it from any other.
Also I never said I wanted all the exclusives on one platform. I will own all consoles at some point in time, I always do.
edit - also, what NukaCola said.
Japon, Japoff
Sorry couldn't resist.
It IS a big deal to people with spotty or slow internet.
It IS a big deal to people who play in areas without internet i.e. soldiers overseas.
It IS a big deal to gamers who DO have great internet but don't want to be reliant on the console manufacturers or publishers servers to be able to play their own games.
IT IS A BIG DEAL.
@logicwins
If these millions of people decide to buy a PS4 instead ...
More new IPs for Sony I guess, this is great news, all console manufacturers should be striving to bring us a good mix of both new games and pre/sequels.
