Exactly.

To answer your question I wear a cloak and shoot lightning from my fingers, does that count as wizard?

I'm sure kids would love it,it's a good concept. They'd also like to play paintball in the living room and it'll likely be as expansive and inconvenient.

This whole illumiroom thing has gotten out of hand. It's either going to be wildy expensive, massively impractical or both. It's a pipe dream wrapped in yet more smoke and mirrors. I guess it could work with PCs somwhere down the line but it's HIGHLY unlikely to ever see a console release.

Agree but what happens when that perception leads to non-gamers, casuals etc becoming the overwhelming majority of console buyers? In order to keep making money MS would have to please 'their' audience first, which would mean more dance/kinect and less core games.

Yes at the moment it's a battle of perceptions but those perceptions can have very real world effects, especially to a company that is more interested in competing with Apple and Google than Sony/Nint...

"I understand that you’re trying to turn your console into a multimedia device but save that stuff for the TV commercials and minor press releases. The core gamers don’t watch E3 to hear about how they can now order pizza from their Xbox or your latest partnership with some other company that will revolutionize the way we use an Xbox."

This is what I've been trying to say for ages. MS, make a games console with home entertainment apps not a home entertainment...

"Like Sony's PlayStation 4, the new console is expected to hit stores this holiday season"

Hmm those recent rumors (as well as yield issues, see bottom link) about problems in development could knock the launch back into next year, which wouldn't be the end of the world.

"At this point they really need to provide free online play for all Xbox owners. PlayStation Plus is a much better premium service than Xbox Live, which barely competes with the free PlayStation Network services to begin with. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect free online play from the next generation."

Definitely my own personal number 1 wish for Xbox 3, MS need to listen to what gamers want.

This is all we can ask for as gamers. It's fine to inlcude multi-media and non-gaming apps in a console but when you're making that kind of thing too much of a priority then the gaming aspect will suffer.

Yes, we know PS4 will have a multitude of non-gaming related apps and such but we also know that Sony's main priority is to the gamer. Their investment in high quality studios over the last couple of decades has given them an unrivalled portfolio of AAA conte...

Ever since Kaz took over, Sony and in particular the Playstation brand have been on an upward trend

It mentions the Gamasutra interview with Mark Cerny confiming this tech for PS4, no confirmation that it will be in Xbox 3 yet. Thinking about it though, won't the rumored eDRAM setup of Xbox 3 kind of undermine the advantages of this? I can see why Cerny wanted 100% unified GDDR5.

The article come to the illogical conclusion that the 40 something million XBL subscribers must have constant online connections. It's estimated that only half of those pay for a gold sub and that's still no guarantee of the quality of their internet.

I mean really, are they trying to say it's OK to push invasive online only DRM on gamers because 'it'll sell anyway'? What a terrible argument.

The part about one percent of live us...

I'll give you three guesses what Admiral Ackbar would say if he seen the rumored Xbox 3 subsidized price plan.

$299 + $15/m for 2 years = $659!

"strong possibility that the PS4 will be in the $499 range"

True but I think after this gen Sony will be keen to keep the price down as much as possible, even if they take a big hit at first.

I made a completely reasonable comparison to the Xbox 3, which has everything to do with this article. I didn't even use the PS4 acronym specifically so to not rattle the cages of any fanboys, looks like my effort was wasted.

Exclusives are INCREDIBLY important in the early years of any console.

It seems that Drinkbox Studios made the descision to go Playstation exclusive because of Sony's Pub Fund. Sony has been going far and beyond the call of duty (no pun intended) in making the PS4 as accessible to developers as possible. Not only in the way the hardware was designed but also in offereing them a helping hand with funding, I applaud their methods.
