Message to devs/publishers:
If you want our money, MAKE BETTER GAMES.
End of story.
"Unfortunately, Sony's stance on the topic seems to have changed, with numerous reports suggesting the next PlayStation won't support used games."
Complete bull, there has been absolutely no indication PS4 will block used games. The entire article itself trys way too hard to paint Sony in a negative light, almost to the point of inferring bias.
"logicle"
Sorry i'm not a grammar nazi but that's just hilarious :D
Also, Xbox mini is just a rumor at this point and all the apps you mentioned will inevitably be on competeting platforms too.
Dunno what this article is rambling on about, the store updates at 4pm ish (i think) every week here in the UK. One 24hr delay is hardly a trend or even anything to start crying about.
@below, Really? Then the article should provide some kind of links to the other times this kind of thing has happened so the writer wouldn't appear to be crying over nothing.
That would be mind blowing.
It kind of hints that we'll see the final design before May 25 because it's unlikely they'll start advertising without a box to show.
That one guy with a 360 in Japan will be pleased.
Seriously - Giving players in Japan an incentive is smart on Microsofts part, they need all the help they can get in that region.
Wonder if this is a result of the new marketing firm they went with for PS4? It's certainly a step in the right direction and building hype for PS4 now is smart since officially it has no simlarly specced competition.
This only means that the devs who DO put in the extra effort will be rewarded with games that run a lot better, which in turn should review better and it should follow, sell better.
Who?
In my experience, the hype for new consoles only builds as the launch approaches. People aren't just going to stop being excited for PS4 when Xbox 3 is finally announced. There will be much more info to come from Sony in the run up to and at E3.
What's phenomenal about the hype is that Sony have revealed so little but still there's a huge amount of anticipation from gamers.
It's likely most of the negative rumors turn out to be false but the damage these rumors are doing to the image of the Xbox brand is quite real. Microsoft have a lot to address before and during E3 and their PR department seem to be sleeping on the job.
Worked for Epic, although they did produce a lot of multi-plats too.
@below - True, guess they have something to prove.
Following a brilliant gamer focused announcement show and considering the uncertainty surrounding the direction of the xbox brand, it's no wonder gamers are flocking to PS4.
What you have to consider is that all this buzz and excitement surrounding PS4 is even before they have shown the actual console, most of the games and even the price. It's kind of phenomenal when you think about it.
The share button has the potential to be revolutionary.
It's innovation through convenience, something that has made Apple very rich indeed. I can see it becoming a staple for all consoles from here on out.
You're a master of taking things out of context.
STEALTH EDIT ALERT
original comment:
"'Sony have become masters of creating an OS'
lol..."
Trolls, they're tricksy, precious.
IIRC the video capture is done on a seperate chip, probably with it's own pool of memory to dip into, so it shouldn't effect the OS.
Truth is, this is just a rumor, could end up being 2gb but personally I think they could do all they need to with 1 and still make it nippy.
It should reduce load times, smooth out framerate peaks and reduce texture 'pop in'.
The PS4 has been confirmed to use the RAM to store the state of games so you can jump right back in where you left off, even after turning your PS4 off.
The media certainly has no love for MS and Xbox recently. I'm starting feel a little sorry for them, I hope they speak up soon and clear their name or it will be a one horse race next gen.
"every used copy sold is a lost sale for the publisher / Developer"
Nope, that's an illogical leap that assumes the gamers who buy used games would still pay the full price for them. Most probably just wouldn't bother, especially the poorer among us.
Also the game has to be bought new at some point for it to end up as a used game.
Your movie analogy falls down on the fact that (most)piracy and used movie trading exist...
