Thanks :)

If this is a troll attempt then MS are troll clubbing themselves in the foot. If they come out and say "NextBox can be played online or offline" then yes some people will eat it up but I think a lot of people will be asking "why the fluff MS just didn't come out and say that earlier".

Messing with your cumstomer base it not good business.

@ darth

Third time I've seen you post that same stupid joke in like an hour, stop trying to force it, it's just not funny.

Sadly, those who are patient and open minded enough to hold off judgement are the minority. MS's silence is only hurting the situation if anything, like the article states,

"...if it wasn't true, why wouldn't Microsoft just squash it now so that there's not a negative connotation surrounding their next Xbox?"

Are there any gamers that WANT always on DRM?

Whether you believe all publicity is good publicity or not, the rampant negative press towards the Xbox 3 is having an adverse effect on gamers perceptions of Microsoft as a gaming company.

You've got him there, fanboy hypocrisy at work.

Well done sir +funny.

Good read but...

How is the terrible content submitted to N4G now any different from any other time? Next gen is just the latest excuse, there'll always be top X lists and other trash as well as wild rumors and speculation.

"Don't agree with someone else's opinion just to be popular"

You might need to be more specific there, how do you know who agrees for that reason and not just because they actually just agree? ...

I think they may have become too dependant on XBLive fees to ever make it free :(

If some of the rumors surrounding Xbox 3 are true then number two is also out the window. They just don't have the first party studios to supply both Kinect/casual games and enough core games to satify either party. A good percentage of their studios are named things like: Kids and Lifestyle Entertainment, Playful Learning and then there's Rare -sigh-
Sure, there's 3rd p...

Me: "No. It can't be. That's not true.
That's impossible!"

Disney: "Search your feelings, you know it to be true."

You're right, I didn't think it through all that well.

My point about the price bumping still stands. Kinect is a bit of a double edged sword in that respect, both attracting the casual gamers MS want so desperately to court but, at the same time, inflating the price of Xbox 3 making it less attractive to that same demographic.

If I were MS I'd try and fool the core into thinking Kinect 2 will be appeal to them, like they did last time. At l...

It's going to take something really special to win over critics more than Bioshock: Infinite did. If anyone can achieve this it's Naughty Dog though.

"It is reported that the device will go on sale for around $99"

This part makes me doubt this whole leak, it's far more likely that MS will bundle Kinect 2 in with xbox 3. If they want Kinect to get support from devs other than 1st party they will have to be certain that their entire userbase has one. Not sure if that's as smart a move as it seems because putting an extra $99 on top of a new console's price could be bad for sales.

I wonder if this has been confirmed to developers behind closed doors?

Seems like a lot of studios are speaking out against it and rightly so, it's a douchey move.

"This is a very dangerous situation for Microsoft. They either have some wild card in their hand, or this could very well be their last, suicidal game."

"From a gamer perspective, if all this is true, then Microsoft is basically destroying an industry, just to recreate and model it after its own rules and goals. Apple started it and it seems that Microsoft is joining the fight with what seems like a brutal re-entry. In this case, core gamers can only turn to ...

Oh yeah of course, price is paramount. As you say, you just know it's not going to be $600/£400+ again. It's quite a lot of tech still so yeah I don't think it's going to be Wii cheap either. I think $400-$500, pure guess.

With more PC-like architecture Sony should be able to give the PS4 a very competitive pricepoint. I can see it being out of stock, with a waiting list, for longer than most would expect.

4695d ago 4 agree1 disagreeView comment

If you don't pre-order or queue at midnight prepare to wait at least a fews weeks or even up to a month or two to get a hold of one. PS4 is going to be a hot item if reality reflects all the predicted demand stores have been shouting about. It will be even harder to get a hold of if it only releases in one territory this year!

Perception is their problem, if developers perceive MS as not interested then support for the next xbox could suffer. Especially with the smaller devs who may only be able to work with one console for starters and there's Sony with hands outstreched but MS nowhere to be found.

Perception, although sometimes superficial, can actually turn out to be very important.

@ironfist That doesn't change the fact that Sony had a big gaming presence at GDC an...

There's a chance they did, I don't think anybody was expecting Sony to announce first let alone set a rough timeframe for release.

I don't know if it has made MS re-think anything in their hardware but it has probably made them re-think, at the very least, their marketing strategy.

@garethvk below, if MS were truly shooting for a 2014 release then we could see PS4 release unchallenged this autumn/fall in at least one region. There's a ki...

First off what high horse, I congratulated those guys because they argued against the people who were making an illogical argument in anger instead of relating to the real topic at hand. Chrismichales may have mentioned sales first but he didnt do so in a troll-like manner, the argument that he did it first is just simply juvenile.

Also, I never broke down sales "right to the decimal point", I clearly stated that the sales were averages and not based on solid num...

Glad to hear it works fine, I played through both Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 with Move and it really changed how I saw the game. It made them stand out compared to normal FPS games, something which may not have happened had I just played with DS3; not that the games aren't great on their own.
