Every game you've ever played came from a developer that was once and indie. So, to trash indies is to trash gaming as a whole. Just because they don't have some publisher making them sign multi-million dollar contracts that strip them of any creative freedom and vision they may have had for their game in order to make the game more appealing to the mountain dew-doritos crowd, doesn't mean they can't produce classics. Some of the best games I played last gen were from indie de...

iagainsti, you are correct in the fact that it is a combination of factors, and ESRAM is not solely responsible. However, ESRAM is also where the frame buffer resides (frame buffer needs enormous amounts of bandwidth for things like AA, etc). Since a 1080p frame takes up about 13mb, there isn't much room left over for other data to fit into there. So, it leaves a little more room in ESRAM to reduce resolution. The ROPS do play a big part in that as well. However, other things like the num...

@Markus, you need to consider that as time goes on, the demands these games will be placing on the hardware is also going to increase as developers figure out new ways to squeeze more power out of them. You are trying to perpetuate the myth that someday developers will be able to make the 32mb ESRAM bottleneck disappear, which isn't going to happen. 1080p will always be a struggle. Most developers are going to keep making games more complex as time goes on, and will be taking more advanta...

Any game that pushes the hardware is going to struggle to run at 1080p60 on Xbox One. The ESRAM being the reason why. There's only 32mb of it, and that creates a big bottleneck when you need more than just your framebuffer to have high bandwidth access to RAM.

People have been saying this to the fanboys for months, spelling it out in laymans terms and citing all the technical details, but people will only believe what they allow themselves to believe. It doesn't help ...

@foxtrot

It could definitely result in more or less people watching the show. People might or might not like the change. It could sell fewer or more games, and could result in Sony winning the console war, or not.

You may or may not even notice the change.

@abriael

Well, lets give you a picture made of 100 pixels, and another made of 1000000, and we'll see which looks better.

The characters look good, but the backgrounds sucks. Those rocks in the second pic are super blurry.

The difference between this and Oculus/Morpheus is both Oculus and Morpheus have given real time demonstrations of what they claim is possible, and these demos weren't just on-stage presentations, people actually have experienced both for themselves and have been able to give their own opinions which have matched the hype generated by the manufacturers. Not the case with MS' cloud tech, which so far we've only seen one demo of a PC running a game at 720p and 30fps, with the server...

You're talking about that cloud demo that was forced to run at 720p at 30 frames per second even though the servers were in the next room? Yeah, that's some impressive tech right there, especially when the internet connection has a hiccup and the game slows to a 1fps crawl because of it.

TF was supposed to have cloud AI, what we got were bots that were no smarter than bots in previous fps games. Literally just cannon fodder.

Forza... same crap. Nothin...

The lighting is better on the PS4 version also. Look at the gif of the dude in the gun turret firing over the water. You don't see any muzzle flash lighting up the guns on the Xbox One version, whereas on the PS4 version the flash illuminates everything around it.

Some here may not know this game was videotaped in the 80's for a VHS based console developed by Hasbro. Both it and sewer shark were shot and produced long before they ever appeared on Sega CD. As such, the quality of any "HD" re-release is probably going to look like crap at best, unless they shot on actual film rather than video (which is possible, but unlikely given the low budget nature of the films/games).

I already acknowledged the SLIGHT differences in AA/AF and framerate (if you want to go above 60, which most TV's can't, and not everyone likes sitting at a desk while gaming.). polygon count has nothing to do with monitor size. I don't care if you have a 100 inch 4k monitor, you still aren't going to see those extra few polys on the headlights while racing. We're not talking about dramatic differences here, we're talking about having to pause the game, zoom in on the ...

If anyone disagrees, lets see some proof. Show me a PC build that is confirmed to be able to run this game better than PS4 that doesn't cost 2-3x as much. And when I say "can run better", I don't mean on paper specs that don't take OS/API overhead into account. I mean in Windows/mac/steam actually running the game with higher benchmarks.

Come on folks, put your money where your mouth is.

Last time MS claimed something like this it turned into that Cirque du Soleil Kinect circus mumbo-jumbo... followed by the faked star wars demos and such.

It'll be the PS4 version with slightly more pixels (which you probably can't even see on your little PC monitor, and definitely can't see if you hook your PC up to a 1080p TV) and frames per second, better AF/AA, and imperceptible details like polygon count on the headlights which you never see while racing, essentially.

'cept it'll require a rig that costs 2-3x as much to play it.

Lol @ the kid trying to sound like he knows what he's talking about... "the tesselation of the water, the procedural textures, the global illumination"... literally just throwing around every techie buzzword he could come up with without knowing what any of it actually meant. Tesselated raindrops? Really?

(All of that is handled via shaders, not tesselation, for those that don't know. Tesselation is used to add detail to geometry, and videogames do not rende...

Drop the price to $350, drop the paywall for netflix and other services, and then I'll start watching some of the games for what I'd be interested in.

A step in the right direction, for sure. MS just might have prevented their gaming division from going extinct before the end of the generation. However, it is hard to stop momentum, an object in motion tends to stay in motion. PS4's momentum isn't going to slow any because of this, so XO is really going to have...

@SPAM

You'll be another 1 bubble troll before long, but to address your made up point, Sony has not lost 1.2 billion on PS4. Sony as a corporation has, not PS4's division. Also, Microsoft never paid back the 4 billion they lost on the original Xbox, nor the billion more they lost because of Xbox 360's RROD. The Xbox division has never once turned a profit (as in, repayed all investments made and made additional income to profit). Not one red cent in over 10 years....
