@xbottox

Even though it's already been said, I'll repeat it.

Bandwidth does not work that way. You don't evenly divide the amount of gbps among each gb of RAM. Every byte of that RAM can be accessed at the rate of 176gbps. That means that even if there is only 2GB of available RAM, you can still access that 2GB at 176gbps, provided that there isn't anything else accessing their RAM at the same time. Then that speed gets divided among the numbe...

For me, it has inspired creativity, developed my problem solving skills, given me killer hand eye coordination, made me better at operating a vehicle, and enhanced my social life (this was back when arcades were a thing, but even today kids socialize online when gaming).

I interviewed that guy back at E3 2006, super cool person. He also appeared on our podcast a while later.

I'm glad to see him working on Morpheus. It's in good hands with him.

Um... they did nothing but state the obvious. Any post processing on the image is going to be done to the frame buffer, which is going to be stored in the highest bandwidth area of RAM the system has (if it has split RAM), because frame buffers need that bandwidth. PS4's unified architecture (having CPU and GPU share the same pool of RAM) isn't going to yield improvements if the software runs only on the GPU (there's no need for the CPU and GPU to share data, the CPU isn't bei...

The headline quotes one store saying they sold out quickly and several more saying they're cutting prices (an indication of slow sales). So, in essence, getting tackled at the 1 yard line on 4th down and doing the touchdown dance anyway.

Wasn't this same article posted a few days back? Or is this a new site parroting the old one's story?

LOD is the practice of swapping lower polygon models out with higher as your perspective moves closer to it. It's been done in gaming for many years now. It would be expected that Uncharted 4 also would use this technique, even on characters. Why render all 40k polys of a character that is way too far away to be able to see them? As long as they can blend together well during the transition, I see no issues with it.

"Well, the previous rumor was bullcrap. Here's another rumor... Sony will show interesting stuff at the next gaming convention! No idea what that stuff may be, but it's supposed to be cool."

That's about like saying "cars will be driving really fast at the next NASCAR race! No idea how fast, but they're rumored to be going really fast!"

Not everyone plays games for the graphics, but for those who have not bought a system yet, and want to be able to compare the two against each other, this info is important to know.

Not everyone buys a car for it's top speed or how fast it can get to 60mph, but that doesn't mean that those who want to know those stats shouldn't bother with them.

Let's look at the above comment applied to cars.

Considering it isn't a good looking game by today's standards, that's kinda disappointing.

I was really hyped for this game, but after watching angry joe's review and seeing the $15/month fee, i'll skip this garbage.

truefan, staying true to your fanboy roots, you spew more lies to try to further you agenda.

Why in the hell would ANY company want to purposely constrain supply when their console is selling at around double the rate of it closest competitors, and stores are still supply constrained? They just admitted it's at a point where they are losing money off of it. Those are not words you want your investors to hear.

If this were right after launch, purposely con...

Sony has taken a beating in the TV market, which is why Kaz chose to spin off the TV business. A wise move I say, as TVs are not anywhere near as profitable of a market as they used to be and there are other name brands that have gained dominance in the market. This sort of restructure isn't done overnight, though investors are chomping at the bit to see results right now.

Is it a crisis for Sony? Most definitely. Is it the end of Sony? Only if they keep the businesses t...

Sorry, my math was off about 900, I referenced the wrong material for a 900p frame size which accounted for a 100k pixel difference. Let me revise the numbers...

1080p is a 30.56% increase in pixels from 900p. I was off a whopping 7.5%.

My point still stands. It is no small difference. You're getting almost 1/3 more pixel density per frame.

@noob

I never once said anything about 50% more pixels, I said 37.5% more. It shows how much you actually read the comment. Nor did I say anything made anything else look better. Though it is a well established fact that the more pixels you add to an image, the sharper the image gets. You have no right to declare how much of a difference someone can or cannot see, because for all you know they may have a better screen or better eyesight than you do. As for "better lookin...

720p (1280x720)= 921,600 pixels per frame.

900p (1440x900) = 1,296,000 pixels per frame.

374,400 more pixels per frame than 720p.

1080p (1920x1080)= 2,073,600 pixels per frame.

777,600 more pixels per frame than 900p.

There are more than 2x as many pixels in the difference between 900p and 1080p than there are between 900p and 720p. It isn't just "an extra 180p". You're talking 37.5% more pi...
