MS showed too much CG and too little gameplay. Sony just showed too little gameplay, but still brought the best variety of titles to the table. They could have cut out the TV crap and most of the guy who replaced Jack's spot and made the presser 30 minutes shorter though... or showed 30 minutes more gameplay.
Their F2P games don't require plus, and never have.
I held off on TLOU because I knew a PS4 version was coming... though I did buy GTA5. I'll still rebuy it. The improvements are good enough to warrant that IMO.
@pumblechook... many games, even PS3 games, use dedicated servers. Why do you think that so many games last gen lost online connectivity because the servers went offline? MAG, GT5, the SOCOM games, etc...
I love the look and feel... very atmospheric and captures the mood perfectly. Kinda reminds me of the old Out of this World games.
Nothing really impressive about a previous-previous gen game running at 1080p60... or even a last gen game. It should be expected, really.
Add that to the billion lost by RROD, and the 4 billion lost by the first Xbox, and you see why investors and execs are floating the idea of spinning off the Xbox brand.
Don't bother with the specs. These fools would believe a Radeon hd 4000 series gpu would outrun a titan if m.s. told them it would.
Image quality adds to immersion. It does matter in that regard.
Also, 1080p at 60 fps is not a metric that can be used to judge a system. The game that is running at that resolution is what decides how powerful a system is. There were 1080p 60fps (wipeout hd) games on ps3. Of course Xbox One can do that resolution and framerate... but at what expense? Lower resolution textures? Fewer lighting/shading effects? Lower polygon counts? Less AA? Worse physics? Trade-offs have to b...
There are benefits and drawbacks to unified memory. The drawbacks are what he mentioned, the benefits are when CPU and GPU are working together on the same data. That data does not have to be copied into the other device's memory pool first, which saves a heck of a lot of time in the grand scheme of things. In gaming, the CPU and GPU team up like that quite often, so it isn't a "split memory is better, period" situation by any means. Perhaps for their particular game, it wor...
"On the other hand even making a PC exclusive game you can’t target high end configurations, so it doesn’t matter in practice.”
Which shoots down every "My PC will smoke your PS4" argument... the developers aren't even targeting your PC.
That isn't to say I don't like PC gaming, the mod community is something you'll never find on consoles. I just find some of the PC master race comments to be silly.
Here's Georgenoob's argument going down in flames...

They're really trying to whore this game out. GT tries to cram content into their games, thousands of cars, many different race modes, etc... Forza seems to want to strip out little sections of the game and turn it into its own series. Just another excuse to charge you another $60 for features they could have just used to make the next Motorsport game better.
Obviously people don't like paying the same amount for weaker hardware, and obviously people prefer Sony's proven game lineup vs. Microsoft's "let's make 2-3 good exclusives and then pay for the rest from third parties" approach. They also probably don't like the fact that MS will dismantle or lose the studios that make all their best games, then go on to give those franchises to unproven studios yet will still hype them up as if they are as good as the original ...
I'm a U-verse customer (24mbps tier) also, I did this and it actually did increase my speeds. I normally download around 2 MB per second, but was downloading 2 8gb updates today (DCU Online and War Thunder) and my speeds slowed to a crawl. I updated the DNS and now I'm back up to around 2 MB per second or higher.
The CPUs are clocked low due to the GPU (especially in PS4's case) being able to help out with GPGPU tasks. It isn't as big of a deal as many are making it out to be. Both GPU and CPU function essentially as one in these consoles.
I'd say 4-5 years we'll hear about a new console, depending on the economy.
To each their own...
I do like the controller for flight, as it mimics a little flight stick. I wonder if the PS4 version supports and flight sticks?
I think that tradeoff between aiming and flying will provide a great balance. PS4 users will need to be better aim than PC users, but will have the advantage of being able to get on their tails easier than they can PS4 users.
For those of you who haven't played this, War Thunder is easily the best free to play game I've ever played... and it is ACTUALLY free to play. I've been playing it for months now and haven't paid a dime. Leveling up takes longer, but not so long that you feel at any real disadvantage to those who pay. You can still progress through the game just fine.
It takes a little getting used to at first, because you only start off with 2 respawns (or crews, as they cal...
Come on, if you're going to pose as a journalist, at least have enough knowledge of spelling to be able to properly spell "overhaul".
