I bought it and beat it a few months after launch, noticed no issues.
Since 2001.
The sales are telling a different tale, unfortunately. Until people stop buying the remasters, they're gonna keep making them.
I liked Rebirth more than the OG FF7.
I'm so glad I rarely ever have to deal with this, and I get to play the games when they come out, not a year later.
Because there's a lot of PCMR's feeling very threatened by what Pro is offering, and a lot of former X fans that have decided to cling to PC now that their console of choice is circling the drain who are feeling the need to trash what is now the most powerful console ever released.
DF showcased that PSSR does indeed surpass FSR, by a long shot. It's not quite DLSS, but it's close.
7800XT has weaker ray tracing performance than Pro due to Pro using RDNA4 tech for it's ray tracing. It also lacks PSSR, FSR is inferior to it. So, while it isn't clocked as high as a 7800, it does have some advantages over it.
The messaging was loud and clear, Cerny himself said they were leaving it up to the developers to decide how they wanted to utilize the extra power, but that the goal was to enable devs to hit quality mode at performance mode framerates.
You should watch DF's video on this topic, PSSR blows FSR out of the water. Still not yet as good as DLSS, but that will come with future updates.
I was surprised to see the shadow quality surpass the game running on a 4090. That isn't due to hardware superiority, of course, but they did make the improvement none the less. You can see it on the shadow of bearded dude's dreadlock on his face, on the 4090 version, it's jagged, but it's nice and soft on the Pro, realistic looking.
I'm glad Sony offers the choice of adding on a disc drive vs. having to release an entirely different SKU to support it.
That 4K UHD optical drive in Pro? $100 to buy one for PC. Then you gotta drop more than a Pro costs to match its specs, and you're still missing the controller (with haptics), 3D audio, and none of your games can be bought in physical form. Don't forget that part.
Actually, you can't buy a SSD that can hit 9.8GBPS at 2TB for under $250. That's Gen5 speed (the lower end of it, but it's above what Gen4 can do).
Also, this GPU has RDNA4 ray tracing tech in it, so it's above a 7780XT in that regard.
My guess is that PS6 is going to lean VERY heavily on AI. Jen from Nvidia once stated that future graphics are going to be generated, not rendered, and honestly, he has a point. GPUs are getting so power-hungry by trying to brute-force renders out in real time, that it is not sustainable. So, before long, we're going to start seeing frame generation and upscaling take over. We already have Doom running entirely in AI ( 634d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment
I love this. Y'all, at least try this game. Buy it if you enjoy it. It really is something special, and I hope this success sends Sony the message that we want more of this... creativity, not just pretty graphics (which this game has PLENTY of, along with cool tricks like 3D fluid simulation, excellent use of motion control, the best haptics ever, and great music) and shooter games.
Chris Dring, Head of GamesIndustry.biz, took to Twitter/X to share that Astro Bot has become the fastest selling original platformer outside of Mario from the last 10 years in the UK, making it a bigger franchise than Sonic, Crash, Yoshi, and Kirby.
A bit more detail.
"People will just order from different retailers." not when pre-orders are limited to PlayStation's direct store only.
They switched to x86 for a number of reasons, one of those being that it would make BC much cheaper to accomplish vs. using exotic chip architectures that were wildly different from the previous generation each gen. While it did eliminate the ability for PS3 BC in PS4, it was a necessary step to ensure that the PS ecosystem would remain backwards compatible moving forward.
Must not have lasted long, by the time I bought it it played just fine...
