@jholden, that's what they said about wii U also...
PS4 is 3-4x stronger than Wii U (more than that if you go by raw FLOPS). Doesn't bode well for Nintendo.
It does some things better than its more expensive competition. For instance, 120hz refresh or full RGB OLED sub-pixels per pixel, rather than using two sub-pixels blended together to get the desired shade of color. Rift/Vive: 2160x1200x2 = 5,184,000 sub-pixels, PSVR: 1920x1080x3 = 6,220,800 sub pixels. This means PSVR is going to have much purer color than the competition, in addition to the 30 extra possible frames per second (and with PS4 Pro, we'll actually be able to natively push th...
Konami's ego wouldn't allow that to happen. Look at their recent actions. However, Konami doesn't own the concept of the game, or Norman Reedus, or Guillermo Del Toro. Just the name.
Not really, as it doesn't have to be a Silent Hills game, just a similar horror game that uses the same themes and gameplay mechanics.
1. There is no definitive proof that PS4 Pro cannot have a firmware update to add UHD BD playback at a later date. All of the technical evidence points to it being possible, even though Andrew House says it isn't.
2. There are literally billions of headphones out there and millions upon millions of songs to listen to with them. There's only about 30 UHD BD movies available.
What a poorly written article.
"In fact, its legendary status is confirmed by the fact that three years after the initial release, the game is still considered the best by a huge number of players. That’s why it won’t be a surprise if Sony decides to release a 4K resolution version of the game for the PS4 pro." - Best to not throw around facts backed by other facts that you pulled out of your ass. "An unnamed number of people have this opinion of the game, ev...
GPU Queue Engine Support

AMD GCN 1.1 (290 Series) 1 Graphics + 8 Compute 8 Compute
AMD GCN 1.1 (260 Series) 1 Graphics + 2 Compute 2 Compute
AMD GCN 1.0 (7000/200 Series) 1 Graphics + 2 Compute 2 Compute
Even the R9290x, a 5TF card far ahead of PS4 or Xbox One, only uses 8 queues per ACE.
Anecdotal evidence makes for a weak argument. The burden of proof is on you, not me. You're the one saying that Xbox One's ACE's process twice as many as any other AMD GCN card, based upon admittedly flawed information.
"We do not at this point know whether this is a typo or a feature thanks to AMD’s custom solutions"
Not confirmed.
Meche, commentator, even in that article they say they cannot verify the claim of Xbox One's ACE's being able to handle that, and all other sources I've found say 8 queues, so until someone can verify it I stand by my statement.
"We do not at this point know whether this is a typo or a feature thanks to AMD’s custom solutions"
I couldn't disagree more, I play indie games FAR more than I do AAA, and have had far more fun playing them. Rocket League, Don't Starve, War Thunder, among my most played games this generation. AAA takes a back seat for me. AAA gets too cookie cutter, the indies take risks.
I've been playing worms for almost 20 years. Highly addictive fun, especially local multiplayer. I remember running LAN cables all over the house back in the day, screaming down the halls at the other players for blasting my last worm next to a mine that was next to a barrel of fuel that sent my little guy into the next life with a fiery bang followed by a watery grave. Some of the 3D games sucked (the most recent was good), but any of the 2D and some of the 3D games were great.
PS4 has more asynchronous compute engines (8 to Xbox One's 2), enabling up to 64 queues of Async Compute. Xbox One has 16 queues. Each ACE processes 8 queues. This is why the pipelines cannot be the same (there you go Rashid, I did your research for you. It's ok, you can steal my work again without sourcing.), as Xbox One has nowhere near the Async performance when you couple that with the 40% more compute units on PS4's GPU (not even touching Pro, which has 2X as many as PS4). In...
*Dev gives 4 sentences worth of vague tech talk*
We got an entire article!!! Quick, publish to N4G! This guy just said they have to approach coding async on each platform differently!
I came here at least expecting some sort of technical analysis from the author, or an in depth tech talk from the dev, not just one vaguely spoken line that could be interpreted any which way from a developer and didn't inform us of anything new at all in the end. Mark C...
Ah, Gaming Dolt...
"The lack of 4K blu-ray is apparently an issue for some players and we have done a through (can't even spell thorough) analysis on whether Sony can add it in the future."
Translation - They ripped off what another website (e-mpire.com) reported on the day PS4 Pro was announced, which was partially sourced from info about UHD discs that has been discussed by a guy named Jeff Rigby in various forums online for several months...
Colonel, there are two native 4K games on PSPro currently. It's how the dev chooses to use the available hardware. Even MS said not all Scorpio games will hit native 4K.
This article is a bunch of stills from a trailer that came out almost a year ago... The youtube video was uploaded back in October of last year.
It's likely that MS was going to rely on Oculus for a VR solution, as it is the most affordable PC option at the time, and there has been talk of discussions between the two companies about future support.
That said, this is temporary. Palmer will get dropped like a bad habit, will become the next "pharma bro" (hated, but too rich to care), and we'll only hear him blow hot air about politics once in a while. Then Oculus will resume course.
So would The Last of Us.
